if they could write a letter to their past self, what would it say:
dear venita of the past,
isn't it funny? how you sit and you wait, hoping that something good will happen to you for once? i'm not sure how i should put it in words, but you need to do something. i'm your future self, so obviously, if you want to benefit, you'd better listen. your life is going to go downhill from here. your father and sister will plot to murder you, and everything is going to come crashing down on you- but you can break free. don't wait like i did, though. i'm currently working some less than desirable jobs to make a living, but i think i would've had a better chance is i took off from the palace earlier. don't be like me, don't be afraid. channel all of your fear into anger, and run. you just have to hold on, and perservere. you can do it: i did.

workshop three - writing prompt

kalon name: rudy

prompt: rudy and desiree have been friends since they've met. they're just a good match- the two are both pretty flamboyant, and desiree is one of the only people that can tolerate rudy's hysterics and dramatic tendencies. rudy was always picked on as a kid (he was lanky and nervous- an easy target), but desiree would always stand up for him, regardless of whether or not she'd get in trouble. the two are currently roommates, which works out extremely well (rudy does the cooking while dez makes sure their lives don't collapse), and it's enough to give them the title of best friends. (plus, they're both not that smart, and a lot of the time it's just "what?" back and forth.) rudy and dez have just known each other for forever, and they've always been close.

has your kalon ever met their grandparents? if so, what do they think of them?
she's only met her grandmother, as her grandfather passed before she was born. she absolutely loved her grandmother (she thought she was the coolest person alive), due to her wild stories about her time as a kid. cali completely idolizes her, and while she isn't alive anymore, cali was extremely close to her.

what is your kalon's relationship with their parents?
cali tends to distance herself from her parents. they're very supportive of their daughter, but they're usually very busy and tend to overlook a lot of the emotional aspects of life. cal loves them a lot, but feels like they don't really care (which isn't the case at all!).

do they have any siblings? are they blood related or adopted?
nope, cal is an only child. she's blood related to her parents as well. (she wishes she had siblings, though.)

does your kalon have children? do they/did they ever want to have kits?
no, as she's just a kit, but she doesn't really get the appeal of having kids anyways. she thinks that babies are disgusting (the drooling is gross), and she claims that she wouldn't be responsible enough for a child. however, she's just a kiddo herself, so who knows what'll happen in her future?

which family member is your kalon closest to? why?
as said before, cal was extremely close to her grandmother, more so than her parents even now. when she was alive, cali's parents usually sent her off to her grandma's house whenever they were working, so cali learned most of her life lessons from her.

is there a family member your kalon wishes they could know better? who is it?
cali wishes she could know her mother better. she's a very stoic and serious woman, but she maintains an aura of grace. cali tries to emulate how her mother acts most of the time, as she truly does look up to her, but she wishes she knew what she was thinking most of the time. she always looks so stressed out, and it gets her daughter worried.

workshop three - day two exercise

who is your kalon's enemy/least favorite person? how did they come to feel this way about them?
although they're not truly blood sworn enemies, cali and castor have a very, very strong distaste for each other. cali thinks cas is an overprotective brute who needs to give her twin brother pollux some space. on the other hand, cas thinks that cali is extremely stuck up and needs to stay in her own lane. right from the moment the two met, they clashed. they're in the same grade, and have the same homeroom, and they ended up sitting in the same general area. cali hit it off with pollux, as the two are both hardworking and share many interests, but as per usual, cas is very cautious of those who interact with her brother. (she doesn't want anyone who'll hurt him to talk to him, as he's an easy target to be picked on.) of course, cali wasn't being rude to him, but cas' atmosphere of questioning and being on edge pissed her off. so, they never really hit it off, and have some super preconceived notions about each other.

besides their best friend, who else is your kalon friends with? he's friends with dove, venita, and is at least acquainted with eloise.
what qualities does your kalon look for in a friend? he looks for people who will listen, but not snoop. otherwise, he's drawn to people who have at least a bit of humor, and usually likes when others aren't a complete stick in the mud.
what qualities does your kalon dislike in a friend? he doesn't like those who are too attentive or questioning. palmer firmly believes in privacy, and doesn't want someone nosy near him.
would they risk their life to save a friend? a stranger? no. he believes that fate is cruel, but everything happens for a reason. (plus, he's super lazy, so that's there.)
is it easy or hard to earn their trust? why? it's very hard to earn palmer's trust. he's very wary of others, although it doesn't show,
but he's been let down a lot. most good things in his life have quickly turned sour, so he isn't easily trusting of anyone.

describe their pet/companion: a very big, moderately fluffy, angry orange and white cat. kind of looks like this ???
how did they meet their pet/companion?: dove met mildred on her front porch. she saw her sitting near the door, and feeling bad for the cat, she left out some leftover chicken. and then the cat just kept coming back for more food, so eventually dove caved in and took her to the vet's, and then boom. dove had a cat when she was little, so she was no stranger to them, so mildred was an easy addition to dove's already somewhat busy household. dove just... feels bad very easily, and that's what made her take her cat in.
