║╚═════════════╝ Dragonpaw glanced over her shoulder as she slipped into the nursery.
"Aspen, Hound, Cheese, Lavender," she whispered, "You ready?" Cheesekit
glanced at the other queens, busy with their young kits, and the nursery
helpers, oohing and ahhing over the newborns, and nodded.
"Let's go," she said, firmly. The four kits followed the lithe
bengal out of the nursery, barely suppressing their giggles.
"This way," Dragonpaw instructed quietly leading out of the camp,
avoiding the med cat den. "The others are just outside the camp, in
a clearing." She murmured, grinning at the excited kits.
"Got it." Houndkit said, grinning, bouncing in excitement, "Could we
die doing this?"
Dragon paw looked at him in exasperation. "Would I intentionally put you in danger?" She demanded. The kits glanced at each other. "Oh, shut up." Dragonpaw scowled playfully, grinning as the kits giggled.
"Dragon, is that you?" A familiar voice called.
"Shh!" Insisted Dragonpaw, "Of course it's me Soft, are the others here?
"Yea, we're here." Hailpaw called, "Sleetpaw will be back any second, he had to give Dad an excuse as to why we were leaving."
"He's here." Whispered Sleetpaw loudly, "Come on, let's get going, quick before Velvetflicker catches us."
"She'd have your hide if she knew you were sneaking us out." Cheesekit teased, earning her a playful scowl fromthe slightly older tom.
"Oh, I know." he assured her, "So let's go. If you fall behind, we'll find you on our way back. No waiting for stragglers."
"Got it." The kits assured him, and the eight cats darted off into the grass, beelining for the Drizzleclan camp. Normally, a trip this length would take several hours, but the path was smooth and straight, leaving no doubt as to which direction to turn. It was only an hour or so before they reached their destination, the kits chattering excitedly.
"Okay!" Dragonpaw announced, moving to face the small group, "It's totally possible other apprentices will show up here, so look out. Do not jump anywhere I haven't approved." She flicked her tail at Sleetpaw, "That idiot jumps from all sorts of dangerous places. Don't follow him."
"Hey!" Sleetpaw protested, feigning injury, but grinning as the kits all laughed.
"So, basically, Anywhere Hail, Soft or I go should be safe. Anywhere Sleet goes is probably not safe." Dragonpaw summed up, "So....who's ready to go cliff diving?"
The kits shrieked with excitement, and the group darted toward the well worn, winding path up the cliff, the apprentices shouldering roughly, fighting for the lead. Sleetpaw broke away from the group, careening up a rocky path that ran parallel to the main path, but went far higher. "I want to go first!" Lavenderkit piped up, earning a chorus of dismayed shouts, each vying for the first place in line behind the three apprentices.
"You can all go at once!" Dragonpaw called, skidding to a stop, and grinning over her shoulder at the kits, tumbling to a stop behind her. "Just watch us first, be sure to jump out, away from the cliff."
"Got it." Lavenderkit said with determination, watching as the three mollies bolted towards the edge of the cliff, and flung themselves into the air, shrieking with delight. The four kits tiptoed to the edge, eyes fixed on the water, cheering as the three surfaced, beginning to paddle towards the shore. Sharing one mischievous glance the four backed up, then launched themselves into the air, their shrieks and laughter mingled with the crashing waves.
