It was a stormy night, and Ocean was... Floating, if you will, on a little bit of wind that she was using to keep herself suspended in the air. She was hidden amongst the storm gray clouds, her ears and eyes were focused on the water below her, waiting.
"Help! Help!" Came the desperate cries of fishermen. Their boat had capsized in the storm and they had been tossed into the water. At last, the call had come. Ocean swiveled her ears around, trying to pin point exactly where the cries were coming from. There! She thought, as she in the air above and floated over to where the men were. She blew the clouds away from her a little bit so she could see better. Ocean counted a total of four men in the water, and she used her powers to change the waves around them to her advantage. She used them to push the fishermen to shore, drifting down onto the surface of the water as she did so. Ocean walked calmly behind the men, urging them forward with the altered waves.
Slowly but surely, the fishermen soon made it back to the sandy shore and crawled onto the land, gasping for air after the long swim. She stood there for a moment and watched them, still standing on the water. The crashing waves seemed to bend around her as she stood there. Another job well done! She thought to herself, though she had been expecting no less.
"Look!" Said one of the men in loud whisper to his three companions. He didn't know if he was just imagining things, but standing on the water was the most beautiful Night Walker he had ever seen.
"Is that -" one of the other men started to speak, but the first man shushed him. Apparently no, he wasn't imagining things.
"Come here, pretty little Night Walker," the first man said, trying to coax Ocean towards him. His wife would definitely forgive him for going fishing again instead of cleaning out the garage like he said he would, if he brought her this pretty Night Walker as a present. He knew that many Night Walkers lived with humans, although his family didn't have one yet.
How silly, Ocean thought. She knew what he wanted, as many people that she rescued had tried to adopt her. If I came home with you, who would watch over the skies and the seas? Ocean turned and began to walk away with a flick of her tail.
"Wait!" Shouted the man, reaching out with a hand as if he could grab her and make her stay. Ocean continued to walk away, walking up towards the sky and disappearing in the clouds. The storm wasn't over yet, and she knew that more people may need her help tonight.
