Bird Encounter: Nyvooki stretched out her legs as she stood, her claws flexing as they tore up small bits of earth beneath her. Another boring day of boring hunting... What she wouldn’t give to go on an adventure, or have something interesting happen to her. Upon reaching the hunting grounds, she spotted a falcon. Far too small to be a meal for the pride, but a nice snack to get her started. The gorgeous feathers would be a bonus, she was sure there would be someone that would love them. A bird painted in black that reflects no light, no hint of other color in the darkness. Every darkened feather tipped with a white Nyvooki swore shimmered, and a full collar of white feathers. The lioness silently crept closer and closer before lowering herself to the ground, preparing to strike. She saw the bird’s head turn towards her and she leapt, her resolve faltering as she landed harmlessly inches from the avian. The falcon stared at her with vibrant blue eyes, completely unphased by almost becoming a snack. That however, wasn’t what made Nyvooki stop. It was the intelligence, they mirrored her own, and her prides. She’d never seen anything like it before. “Thank you for not eating me.” Came a distinctly female voice. The lioness looked around before turning her gaze back to the bird before her. “Was that... You?” Nyvooki asked, to which the bird simply nodded. The large cat stared in awe as her back feet slid out from under her, causing her to sit on her rump. It took the lioness a moment to find her voice, but she bombarded the falcon with questions once she had. “Who are you? What are you? How do you speak my language? I’ve never met something like you before. Are you from around here?” The bird gave a light chortle before speaking. “I am a gyrfalcon. Believe it or not, I am quite close with several cats like you. No, I’m not from around here, though it is beautiful. I’m afraid I must go now, however. My love is waiting.” The falcon said as she gave a flap of her powerful wings and took to the sky. “Wait! Will I see you again?” Nyvooki called, causing the falcon to pause. “Perhaps.” Was all that was said before the bird flew away. Nyvooki didn’t even realize the falcon never revealed her name.
