Name: Lumina
Gender: Female.
Story/Lore:
Scientists decided to see if they could achieve bioluminescence within animals. It has certainly been done before in animals such as cats and monkeys. But they wanted to try and see if they could create a rat that would glow when in danger. Over thirteen hundred rats have been tested in none as successful as this rat. Lumina watched many of her brothers sisters and friends suffer negative effects from these test.
Bioluminescence is often caused by a protein known as Lucifernin which is the reason why some aquatic creatures such as jellyfish, algae or mushrooms glow.
Taking the protein and tampering with rat genetics they managed to have the rat process more sugar and have a higher oxygen intake for the protein to react within the rat.
Lumina has gone through tons of poking and prodding when scientist noticed that even her blood and flesh glowed. Taking her genes they injected it into other rats in hopes that they would too glow. Which they have!
Luckily Lumina managed to escape.
