As a god, Cherry was many things. Tall, powerful, unbelievably lucky. But, oddly enough, he had never been exceptionally persuasive. So, when Shark told him he would need to get Thatcher to give him a diamond of all things, he was at a loss.
Then again, he was able to trade with the mermaids. Admittedly, he had offered them bugs, and all they’d had were parts for the ship which didn’t have any value beyond just being shiny. A diamond, though... That was worth more money than most Kalons had, maybe even more than Cherry himself had. Plus, for Thatcher there was some personal connection to because of that shrine thing he’d been building.
That shrine... Now there was an idea. There had to be something Cherry could offer to add to it that Thatcher would think was worth trading that diamond for. Maybe flowers? Yes, that would do it. Sure, they didn’t have the permanence of a gemstone, but that made them even more valuable and beautiful. With his mind made up, Cherry headed out into the forest to search for the largest, most beautiful flower he could. He spend nearly the entire day trekking through the underbrush, finding countless small flowers but nothing like what he’d had in mind. Finally, as the sun began to set, he found it.
Some sort of island flower, maybe a hibiscus? But no, it was far too large for that. Smiling to himself, Cherry carefully dug the flower up and began to make his way back down the beach towards Thatcher, the shrine, and most importantly, the diamonds.
