After she had spotted an island resident with that signature red wrapper, Eleanor had asked excitedly where to find the treat. "At the gas station," they had replied as they took a bite. "Cooler by the register."

"Thank you!" Eleanor waved as she turned and jogged towards the main strip where the gas station was. She had been craving a strawberry shortcake bar since the beginning of summer, but the shop in her town didn't stock them, and it wasn't quite worth driving all the way into the city just to find. But if they were here on the island, her waiting would be over.

The little gas station was busy. With all the kruisers stranded here making things work, the small buildings seemed even smaller. Eleanor, though, was used to a little crowd. She deftly navigated the narrow rows of the gas station convenience store until she found the registers. Sure enough, the cooler held just a few more strawberry shortcake bars. The line to pay, however, was a mile long. Should she take a bar and wait in line, melting be darned? Or should she risk leaving it up there while she waited in line, getting it at the last second for maximum chill?

The choice was tough, but ultimately, Eleanor decided she was willing to take the risk. At least for a little while. While she stood in line, she watched the cooler like a hawk. If anyone showed interest in it, she prepared herself to ask them to pass her a strawberry shortcake bar, but most kalons went for the choco tacos or character-face, gumball-eyed treats. Thankfully, as she stepped up to line, she retrieved a strawberry shortcake bar from the cooler and placed it on the counter. "Just this please," she told the clerk, who nodded and rung her up quickly.

Eleanor left with her treat in paw, elated at the find and the pay-off of the risk. Now to enjoy it on the dock.
