Tris huffed, that was the last time she ever went diving for Shark. He seemed totally unbothered by the fact she'd just been diving in dangerous predator filled water and brought him back a bunch of tools. He was now sending her to somewhere he himself described as dangerous. Gosh. He Shark was beginning to frustrate Tris.
Tris set off to Mermaid Cove, armed with the piece of map Carter had given her. She set off across the beach towards the lush green forest, she wondered what creatures could be hiding in such a place.
The forest is denser than you'd think for an island of this size, birds tweet above and insects buzz around. The air hangs heavy with moisture and the light is broken by thick green leaves.
A small tree frog hops across Tris' path, an odd colour - bright purple iridescent - not something Tris had seen before. Come to think of it even the birds here were slightly funny colours. Tris spun around on the spot staring up into the tree canopy, she saw vines wrapping around the trunks of the enormously high trees. A completely white monkey leapt from branch to branch.
"Isn't this place supposed to be dangerous?" Tris wonders aloud, suddenly the forest erupts in a flutter of noise. The birds flew, the monkey vanishes, even the flies in the air disappear. A low snarl from somewhere beside Tris completes this suddenly creepy picture.
Tris does not stick around to find out what that snarl belongs to. She hurried along the path to the safe clearing of mermaid cove. (265 words)
