Mooore sheltie babies. I actually might end up releasing more of these than I first intended whoops. But obviously I have a love of these beauties. <3 But this one is the Sable (standard) color with Piebald (abnormally more white than normal). Also the face is not symmetrical or the hind legs but the rest are. c:

To anyone who wanted to commission me via CS. I will no longer be offering drawings on CS due to being rudely rushed by some users. I no longer get on Cs as much as I used to so when I take on a commission here it’s usually just for fun and in my free time. I don’t appreciate being rushed. Most artist on here are just starting out like I once did but I can no longer do all my art for free.

prompt; - what is their greatest test or show of strength (300 words minimum / 1000 words max)
Legend tells of an ancient land, locked in the borders of sand and sea. A luscious, ever prospering territory protected by the guardian spirits who roamed it. Isolated from the mortals and left to their own devices these spirits lived in peace, ever celebrating and basking in the wealth of their lands. Time however was not generous and soon, very soon, these spirits would find change is swift. Everything they held dear could be lost in less than a heartbeat.

He was young when it happened, so it was no surprise to her that he couldn't remember. Ages had passed and for many the war was not a fond memory. The darkness had come fast, invading their sanctuary and destroying their aspirations. Families were torn apart, bonds forever forgotten as the spirits who once held enough strength to glorify nations were now bound to smaller villages and towns. Though stronger than most, Li-Mei found her own power sorely lacking in comparison to that of the demons. Particularly the one who had earned his name... the raven. Ever silent and always watching, it seemed none could escape his sights. None except for him. The raven could never seem to find the young spirit and as long as Li-Mei lived, she vowed he never would. After all, there is no strength which can compare to that of a mother's love. She kept him hidden, left him as a youth in a cave near a simple village, one which would easily be overlooked by the raven. She fled that night, abandoning her child and giving him the only life she could see as possible. One without her in it.

These days, she often felt uncomfortable. Her temple was small, far less grand than her home of before. No matter how much gold her village added to her home or how many paintings adorned it's walls, she was left unsatisfied. Nothing it seemed could give her satisfaction and the village she resided in would often face hardships on account of her difficulties. Of course, that was until she saw them. A small group of cets, four in total. A throne-less empress, a scared guardian, an impatient librarian, and a rebellious spirit, four viscets who upon first glance could quickly bring rise to curiosity. The villagers took to their curiosity and, while still showing extreme caution, they opened their homes to the strangers. The town elders spoke to the Empress and the spirit the next day, explaining to the pair about the dangers of their village. "It's not safe," He told them. "It should be," the spirit said, a furious glint in his eyes. "It will be."

That very night when the villagers went to offer their treasures to their guardian spirit, the group followed. He watched with glowing frustration as they sat before the temple necklaces of gold, precious gems, and beautiful arts. He scowled as they cried out for their spirit to protect them, only to receive no response. He remembered the days when he had his own temple, how the villagers would light it up with beautiful lanterns in order to show their gratitude. He reflected on the days when, pushing away the darkness and fighting off demons would be fueled by his desire to see those lanterns again. He longed to see those lanterns again. Yet here was a spirit set on greed, seeking only the finest of gifts and giving very little in return. He refused to accept this. He waited for all the villagers to depart, sending his companions back in order to prevent suspicion. Under the light of the full moon, Xerxes performed his first act of magic under the light of the moon, his mane glowing a brilliant crimson in his anger and determination against this spirit.

When she would step outside that morning, the first thing she noticed was not the lack of gold. It was not the broken pieces of gemstone that would crunch underneath her feet. No, rather it was the flowers. Petals fell softly to the earth, her precious metals and riches being wrapped in gentle pink flowers. She never saw how the plants seemed to grow from the metal itself and, for the very first time in years, she felt mesmerized by what was happening before her. Her eyes were opened.

Her eyes opened too late. She realized the condition she had left her village in, the lack of protection she had provided... and this magic was familiar to her. She remembered it easily, recalling a time of flower crowns and a child's laughter, testing the magic he had inherited from her, and she knew that he was here. Even now she failed to protect her son. A black raven flew ahead and her heart lept in fear. The raven had come, having tracked the restless spirit that was her son as he ventured with his companions. Now he had found them. Quickly she dressed herself in the gifts of her people, willing the items to fuel her through her fight. She fled towards the village where already she could see flames beginning to light as the raven's armies struck. When she finally found her way to the entrance, she was left with a horrifying sight. The raven had her son, her Xerxes, pushed against a wall and a blade to his throat. In an instant she was ready to strike, willing to protect her kin. She hesitated. The screams from her village could be heard behind her. She was torn between her responsibilities as a mother and her responsibilities as a guardian spirit. For a single second, she met the young spirits eyes and in that moment she found her answer.

It takes strength for a mother to be willing to sacrifice everything in order to protect them, but only the strongest can recognize when it is time to let go. Trusting Xerxes, Li-Mei turned away and took to her village with all the strength of a true guardian.

first piece of art- a portrait of this lovely gal <3 *shakes fist @difficult (but lovely) design*

prompt - what is their greatest test or show of strength;;

Lady Persephone.

That was what they had called her.

Now she was just Persephone. No title, no stilted formality, no family name to uphold.

Her name had never sounded so beautiful.

“Hm. Cool name, Persephone,” the stranger said with a friendly grin. “What brings you to our little corner of the world?”

After her years at the Court, Persephone had learned to recognize the look a viscet got when they were trying to look polite while actually plotting how to discredit you. Not that her family wasn’t discredited already; she’d seen it more often directed at other courtiers. But there was none of that here- no schemes going on behind those eyes. Just honest hospitality. She shifted the heavy pack slung over her shoulder and smiled tentatively in response.

“I’m... looking for a change of scenery, if you will,” she said, not sure how much she wanted to give away right off the bat. “Is there any place I could stay, if only for the night?”

“Of course!” The other viscet responded, grinning again. “Follow me- our inn isn’t that far off. I’m sure they have a room that’ll suit you just fine.”

- - -

Persephone hailed from a secluded city known only as the Court. Folktales held that the vast wealth within the Court had come from a simple mining camp, which had yielded a deposit of gold so vast that viscets had come from all over in search of wealth. Some had returned to their homes, content with the gift the kind miners had given them- for there was far too much wealth to split only among the team that discovered it- while others stayed, raising a gleaming city over the caverns where the gold had been found. The head miner had become the first Emperor- a benevolent figure dedicated to sharing his good fortune with others.

That had been many generations before Persephone’s birth. The mission of goodwill professed by the first Emperor had long since died out, stifled by the lure of the gold. The Court now cared little for the affairs of the outside world. Recent emperors had turned Court politics into almost a game, in which the courtiers squabbled and tried to one-up each other like children. Precious few families still clung to the old ways, sharing their wealth with those on the outside rather than hoarding it. Persephone’s family among them.

Her father had always taught her that their excess was meant to be shared. That they would continue as the founders would have wanted, no matter what the courtiers said and no matter how poor their house became. She had grown up believing that with all her heart, ready to one day take up their house’s mantle and use their wealth for good.

But then her father had died, far too soon and far too suddenly, leaving her to face the pressure she thought she was prepared for... alone.

Oh, Persephone had loathed the condescending talks she got then, from ‘well-meaning’ courtiers- opponents of her father’s mission- who urged her not to ‘waste’ what little of her father’s fortune she still had. She had hated the glares and whispers directed at her, as though she was committing some horrible wrong by sticking to her convictions. It was almost enough to make her yield to them, just to get it all to stop.

One night- about a week ago, now- she had been in her home, despairing after a particularly tough day. She was doing the right thing- why was it so hard? Why did they hate her for doing what she felt- what she knew- was right?

She had though and thought, pondering her mission, the remaining wealth she had, the courtiers’ words of ‘counsel-’ and finally, finally she had a revelation.

That night, she had left the court, as much gold as she could carry concealed within a simple, nondescript pack; the rest she left to a like-minded family still within the Court. She traveled as far as she could get, out of the mountains and across vast plains, seeing parts of the world she had been told were unimportant and irrelevant to courtiers- how could they say that when there were viscets working the land with their own paws? That made it worth far more than any gilded city, in her eyes. Wherever she stayed, she left gold behind- goblets, jewelry, even an ostentatious jeweled crown- as a silent message of thanks to her hosts. The gold was so heavy- she was glad to be rid of it.

Maybe she would settle down someday, somewhere, once her legs had tired and her gold was spent. But for now she was content to carry out her mission as even her father had not.

Some of the courtiers were likely to call her a coward- running away from the Court, off to “who-knows-where” on a “fool’s errand.” But Persephone knew that if her father could see her, he would be proud. Perhaps she hadn’t done things the way he had intended, or the way she had imagined, but if this was what it took to carry out her mission... then so be it.

Where there is a will, there is a way. Find your path to righteousness and never sway from the path. March on one foot infront of the other, and keep your head high. By as many steps ahead of your rivals and enemies as possible. But do not underestimate anyone.
