Tell me: There are too many things that I hold dear! I have my best friend who lives in a different state now, my boyfriend, and my beloved pets! I shall talk to you about my geckos. They're so adorable and easy to chatter about.
I have three wonderful Leopard Geckos: Lemon Meringue Zest, Mr. glass, and Gruff. Lemon I won from a raffle our bio department held waaaaay back in November 2017. She is now 10 months old. She has certainly grown into a chubby young lady and continues to grow with each passing shed. She seems to have hit that pre-sexual maturity point. She is ovulating now, but I don't plan on breeding her for another year or so. I need to do a lot more research before I try anything. She is a Mack Snow morph with really pretty veined emerald eyes.
Mr. Glass and Gruff I adopted from a rescue earlier this month. Given their size I think they are between 7-9 months and 6-8 months old. These two boys were tank mates with the previous owner. He did not understand that two males could not live together for long due to natural territorial instincts. He also only fed them 30 crickets a month as juveniles (Lemon would eat 12-15 a day as a juvie!). From this Mr. Glass developed a calcium deficiency and now has MBD. All of his toes are stubs since the previous owner didn't know juveniles had shed problems. He didn't shed his toes all the way, lost blood circulation, and dropped them. He has ONE back toe that is not stubbed. This means he has ONE claw and has issues climbing. Even just on our laps he constantly slips around. We have to assist him to climb up onto our legs, arms, and sometimes shoulders. Gruff, on the other hand, is healthier. He did not suffer the disease the older male has, but he had badly dried skin when I brought him home.
As for the rescuer, he has a non-profit orginization right out of his own apartment. He rescues and regimes any amphibian or reptile animal and provides them with the correct care they need. He does not rehome unhealthy animals. He gave me the two boys because he knew they would be going to a good home. He wanted to give me a Tremper albino female, but I had to refuse as bringing the two boys was already a big step. I didn't expect to take two home. I had only wanted one male (Gruff particularly) and was worried about the MBD guy. When the rescuer showed me pictures of them I instantly fell in love with Glass. It was a love at first sight kind of moment. The rescuer had hoped they would both go together with their tank mate history, and that was exactly what happened. I brought both of them home and have spoiled them since.
Both boys have gained lots of weight, grown a few inches, and have better skin conditions. They're not as dry and have no shedding issues. Both are super good hunters/eaters and Glass is getting better at catching his food. Lemon doesn't like Gruff, but is alright with Glass. I hope this attitude toward Gruff changes, so I can try breeding them. Glass we think is a hypo high yellow. Gruff we are not sure on. His stripes are oddly shaped, but his color looks like a tangerine. He is yellow with some orange areas. Gruff has super dark emerald eyes. They are almost metallic. Glass's eyes are a mix of Lemon's and Gruff's. They are emerald with veins, but darker and slightly metallic.
How I'd describe them is like a family of three kids:
Oldest (Lemon) - a bit of a brat. Super spoiled as an only child and not acts out when the boys get attention. She's not as cuddly as she was in her juvenile days, but she still gets excited about seeing us and coming out to play. She is a bit moody, but hey...all us women are moody during certain events. She definitely likes to defy us despite knowing better. Typical teen xD
Middle (Glass) - the perfect child xD he loves cuddling, hardly misbehaves (goes under couch cushions), and is an overall joy. He is the chilliest of the trio and looooves watching TV. He and Lemon are both my Star Trek nerds. Turn on Patrick Stewert and those two are glued to the screen. Glass likes anything sci-if or space themed. He likes watching secureteam10 youtube. Never had an issue with him, but we also try to be super careful. He has fallen off the couch twice, but is okay. Nothing broken and still squirming around happily.
Youngest (Gruff) - problem child. This boy inadvertently ruined our couch. He managed to get inside under the coils and my boyfriend had to cut the couch to get him. He looooves attention. Head pets are his favorite. I can't say he likes to cuddle because he is the most active of the bunch. He just go go goes. He doesn't know how to sit still and just relax xD
Fun fact about the two boys:
Glass would lay over Gruff when they were younger. The rescuer said it seemed that the older male was protecting the smaller one from the neglect. These two sure did have quite the relationship.

good boys, but now they seem at odds since they reached sexual maturity with a female in close proximity. Gruff, being stronger, is a lot more aggressive and bites the other two (though it could be a courting motion with Lemon). Glass isn't very agressive, he doesn't seem to care, but we have had him try to court Lemon. The difference here is she bit Gruff back when he tried and continued to randomly strike at him. With Glass....well...it looked like she was letting him court her. Leave it to my picky female to pick the male I don't want to use (MBD could pass to hatchlings if hereditary with Glass).
Anyway, I love my trio of lizards. They are crawled and wiggled into my heart and I'll do anything for them. Even if it means cutting open an expensive leather couch to rescue them xD
