what is his legend?

There are many legends yet very few are known since the old generations don't have many to pass them onto.
One rarely known but interesting legend takes us to mythical-age Japan, the gods ruled from the heavens, great heroes defeated demons, and spirits walked the earth.

Years ago, there was a huge quarrel between the gods and a group of yokai (Japanese demons). The demons demanded entrance to the heavens but the gods rebuked their requests. What would a heaven be like with a pack of dangerous yokai terrorizing the inhabitants? Anyways, the demons left mad and defeated and threaten that the gods would regret this. As their act of revenge, the yokai attacked the first village they came upon, and then the next, and then the next. The people, fearfully to leave their homes,
weren't going out to the dedicated shrines.
By time the lack of offerings really took their toll, the group of yokai had destroyed nearly 10 towns since the quarrel. They had taken over most of the western side and established their own little 'heaven'. Many brave warriors and generals perished under their bloody claws and the demons seemed to multiply rapidly in the area. Distraught, one of the heavenly beings, Amaterasu, goddess of the sun, called upon Yoshiro Kin Akio. The strange little cat demon, Yoshiro, was somewhat new to the realm of heaven and was brought up from his original home Yomi-no-kuni, the realm of afterlife and death. The gods thought he was too pure and a righteous attitude to stay down there and act like a low-life demon.
Amaterasu begged him to go down to earth and defeat the army of yokai. Yoshiro, with an iron heart, pledged to rid the west half of demons if he was only promised this: being turned into a god and being part of the holy family.

in the dead of night, twin lights, like oil lanterns, weave a path through the darkness. always just around the corner, always just out of reach. most kalons will say it was fireflies, or maybe just the eyes playing tricks. but some, those who have followed, know far better.

the nekomata travels by moonlight, no more than a lithe sillhouette with two luminescent shines. mystery has shrouded the animal for years. a few even claim it has a name: katya.

"This story is an ancient story of an immortal being who needs to possess a mortal host to keep their energy alive." Foolish words that I listened to, I shouldn't have yet it peeked my interest and of course, I had to know more. "Where is this thing?" Those words had come from my mouth before I had even realized it. The forbidden forest, never go there, ever!" my grandmother seemed to underestimate the mind the mind of a child, and so did I. "Of course I would never go there, Grandma!" I was so sure of myself when those words spilled from my mouth yet I acted against those words and left for the forest that night.

With me, I had nothing, not even a flashlight to light up the forest that seemed to absorb all light, though out of the corner of my eye I saw a wisp of golden light, almost like a flame. I was a child, so of course, I went to look for it, it was a silly choice on my part and if I could take it back I would. I realized that there were two lights and not just one, dancing through the forest around me as if it was a taunt, I was foolish then so I scoffed and continued looking for the fabled being not knowing it was following me and it was more than one. It was a pair.

Before I knew it both lights had surrounded me, "What are you!?" I yelled, not expecting an answer and of course I didn't get one, though as if they responded they had each gone through one of my eyes, a golden flame igniting above my forehead and my tail split. Each shine on my split tail glowed with the energy of the two beings that had chosen me as their next host. Here I find myself, now called by many the Nekomata

for centuries there have been accounts of

young children whom possess the powers of the gods.
this results in two scenarios, a best case and the later.
the most common side effect of supernatural powers
is praise, the child growing up to become a hero the
world hears of in nothing more than fairy tales. they
become living legends, often achieving their goals
and becoming martyrs for a cause they used their
powers in support of. but people only want to hear
stories with a happy ending, whitewashing the cruel
truth of abnormality and skill. forgetting the true curse.

There was once a young girl raised in a temple to the diety of the

night. She was beautiful, but mysterious. She had been given to the temple
after her parents had claimed that she was a demon, a beast, a monster. She
had eyes the color of the moon, surrounded by a foreign darkness. The parents
knew what powers the child had, claiming that she had called upon dark energy,
They and the townspeople were afraid, no one would go into her room to comfort
her when she cried, no one had the courage to simply speak to her. The girl had
been alienated by her home, and her story tugged at the hearts of the head
priestess.

The folk of Mirsholk took her in without any questions. After a few months passed
the girl began to exhibit unnatural abilities once again. The priestesses would
see her calling upon the energy of the gods without the need of prayer to Mirsholk,
the great serpent of the night. Out of respect the priestesses named this child
Yoru No Hana, the night flower. Years passed as the young priest mastered her
abilities,though she could only go so far without bringing herself great pain.
One year a prince declared war on the folk of Mirsholk and the whisperer's
temple. He would only surrender if he received their night flower's hand in
marriage. The priestesses refused, using the man's cruel history against him.
And so they went to war. The girl used her powers, defending the temple from
wave after wave of attacks, growing weaker and weaker each time.

Finally the folk of Mirsholk began to speak of marriage as a way to end the
massacre. Yoru no hana was horrified, they couldn't do this to her. She spoke
to her fellow priestesses, and they agreed to speak with their deity. Mirsholk
came, her forked tongue flicking in and out with amusement and disgust. It
agreed to awaken the night flower, claiming that the one way to get rid of
the princes desire to have her was to force him to fear her. Without a second
thought Yoru no hana consented, and was taken into a separate room.

The deity began chanting, the two high priestesses following in suit. A searing
pain erupted at the base of the girl's tail, the flesh splitting to reveal a forked
tail. The girl could no longer contain her power as yellow light seemed to flood
out of her fingertips, her eyes, and the tips of her hair. Mirsholk put an end to
the torment by sealing the power within a symbol comprised of the etheral
power the girl had been manipulating the entire time. She was no longer human,
but something much more deadly, something to be feared.

The priestesses filched, stepping back for a moment before bowing to her. The
war was ended swiftly, a decisive blow to cripple the prince's army. However, the
people having seen the power Yoru no hana had been able to manifest began to
fear her. The priestesses asked the girl to leave, and she did so willingly. They left
her a robe and a circlet of Mirsholk. Nine of the younger girls were sent with
Yoru no hana, as a form of protection from men like the prince. Years passed as
the girls story became legend, and legend became myth. It is said that she still
roams the forest that what was once the home she had protected, what is now
nothing more than a ruin. Her followers remain in the forest, living elongated lives
alongside their priestess. The kitsune, once the children the night flower played
with, now residing by her side in protection of their shrine. Every year the townspeople
light yellow and gold candles to ward off the girl and her followers. The villiage
must send a young man, representing the prince, out to meet yoru no hana and
present her with the best of their harvest. If he respects the beings and shows a
pure heart he shall receive a wish of his choice, however should his heart be tainted
with cruel desires he becomes lost. The followers torment him with the images of
all that he may want, leading him further into the forest until his bones turn to the
dust from which they came.
