Here's the first compound, H2O. This slippery kid is the basis of all life so we pretty much take it for granted, but they have some really weird properties. First off, they have an exceedingly high boiling point for their molecular weight. While similarly sized compounds like Hydrogen Telluride or Hydrogen Selenide boil at -4 to -42°C, water boils at a comparatively ridiculous 100°C. Although for every other matter, the liquid state is always less dense than than it's solid state - ice
floats on water, and is in fact
less dense than liquid water! Water is a universal solvent, and pure water is not conductive in the slightest.
