he wanted nothing more than to have an effect on those around him, and that's why he joined the revolution. he yelled his opinions to the passerby's in the roads and he wanted the streets to run red and the sky to turn black with the sins of those who'd hurt them, but when they came with their guns all he could do was run. the streets of paris were winding and the cobblestones got caught underfoot, and when he fell he realized that tomorrow would never come again and all he had time to do was grab a small flag and tie it around his neck before they killed him so that they had to live with the fact that they took a part of the french spirit, no matter how small.

She is a woman ahead of her time considered to be an unconventional spitfire when the war started she didn't want to sit on the sidelines collecting scraps she wanted to fight to do something useful eventually she was noticed by the SOE after all she spoke fluent French and who would suspect a woman she would spend over a year working as a radio operator before a fatal betrayal would land her in the hands of Gestapo she lost everything except for a French flag which despite several efforts to destroy it would stay firmly tied around her neck it kept her steady through out the days she spent in the concentration camp made her think of all the reasons to keep quiet and not give up and on her final day she refused to lower her head in defeat instead holding it high displaying the flag as they fired the bullet

Her clipped wings symbolize her final days of captivity and the flag her fight for freedom
