Hello everyone!

I see you've made your way over to this little Kalon kit.
Yes they are ufa.

APH Siantia and I were lucky enough to roll three kits in our breeding and decided that after we choose the ones we wanted to keep the third would be put ufa to non-owners. We remember how amazing it was to get our first Kalon and just want to help those that have been trying to get into the community to have another chance. This Kalon is a blank slate, we have nothing written down for them so if you win they are all yours. We'd love to keep them in the family with the other two kits, which really would probably be just linking them together as siblings and back to the parents.

Anyways we decided to host a story competition. The prompt will be found down below. Please keep your story to a max of 500 words. The story is to be written from the Kalons perspective (if that wasn't made obvious). One art piece is allowed as an extra (does not have to be related to the prompt) but we will be judging mostly on how you respond to the prompt then the art work. (Not to say that it couldn't be used as a tie breaker, if you want to show the three kits playing we wouldn't be opposed~ ) Prettying up the form is allowed. Marking and editing the form is allowed all you like. For your form to be considered, everything needs to be filled out (with the exception of the extra), that includes the name and the gender. If they are left blank or 'TBD' is written when the end date has come and gone your entry will not count.

Prompt: Write about a moment in your life you wish you could freeze and preserve. (From the Kalon's life. Doesn't have to be limited to them as a kit, could be when they are an adult.)

Story:

The tiny kalon squeaked, barreled over by a tiny set of paws. A flying flurry of fur and screeching, they tumbled together into the rock hard forepaws of their father. Wide eyed like owls, they stared up innocently, the temptation to swat at the other like any kit might feel in front of a butterfly. But, neither of them dared move underneath the eyes of their father. Instead of being angry, his orbs lit up like tiny moons against his dark fur, knocking over the smallest kit with a gentle swipe of his paw. Alamanium squealed in delight, her tail lashing as she tried to barrel into her father's muscled frame. Her sister, only slightly bigger, joined in on the attack and with tiny claws she dug her way up her father's back and clung on like a burr. Their laughters, squeals, and fake growls echoed through the forest; splitting it like a tide splits the sea. Nothing but time could break the perfection of this moment.

Story: [ i spent all morning watching videos of people with colorblindness being able to see color for the first time via specialized glasses and i cried like a baby ] [ 469/500 words ]

Cy closed his eyes, filling his lungs with the thick sweetness of the perfume of late-blooming flowers in a deep inhale. In his lap, a smudged, well-worn sketch book and short graphite pencil, bite-marks and over-use wearing away at the paint and eraser worn to a nub - hence the larger, square eraser still in the young kal's paw. The pages were filled with various still-life replicas; the intricate patterning of a butterfly's wings as it indulged in the nectar of the flowers of the city garden Cyrus frequented, the mess of twigs and leaves and scraps of fabric like unruly hair that made up a songbird's nest in the old oak tree's fingers above him, the laughing waters of the cracked and crumbling fountain he sat on flowing down the shoulders of a cherubic toddler from the pot it held, and even a simple leaf and the life-giving veins that flowed like so many criss-crossed rivers within it. The only thing missing from his art was color, something Cy himself knew little to nothing about as he was colorblind.

Cy reveled in the quiet of his sanctuary, that was, until his name was called by a familiar voice. He opened his eyes to the sight of his parents and siblings approaching, something very obviously clutched behind their backs and horribly hidden excitement on their faces. He lifted a brow, but smiled and welcomed them happily.

"We got you something! Close your eyes." Jaime spoke, and though Cyrus was curious, he trusted his mother wholly and did as he was asked. Something hard and plastic was placed on the bridge of his nose and he flinched back a little, startled by the sudden feeling. Obviously, they were glasses, but why? He already had sunglasses, and his eyesight was pretty decent already so the couldn't have been prescription... Sia's voice broke his pondering,"okay! Open!"

He took a moment to slowly peek one eye open, but his eyes widened totally with what he glimpsed. Colors! He could see colors! Colors he couldn't even name dazzled his eyes as he whirled, trying to take it all in at once. The flowers danced pink, purple, and red in the breeze, butterflies of orange and blue flitted to and fro, the songbirds were flashes of red and teal in an azure sky bleeding with the colors of sunset; orange into aqua and lilac and navy with bright pin-pricks of stars beginning to wink to life and cotton candy clouds rolling gently towards the horizon.

Tears of disbelief and joy welled up in his eyes as he turned back to his family - seeing the shades of their eyes for the first time - and a sob escaped his lips. They embraced him in a tight, slightly teary hug as he murmured his thanks and love. Colors!
