Act of Kindness:
It was raining. And a storm was arising. The rain made loud pitter patters when it fell on the cold, wet ground. The skies were dark and gloomy, with thick gray clouds floating across it. And Adelaide was in the middle of it. Shivering. Cold. Soaked. And scared. There was a dark figure near her, but she couldn't make out who or what it was. She was only interested in getting to safety. And quickly. Adelaide whined, and started to look around. But she could barely see anything. Only the unfamiliar figure that was not so far away from her. Adelaide tried shaking the water out of her fur, but a second later her fur was once again dripping wet with rain. How am I going to get out of this? It's heavily raining, I can only see the ground, the rain and darkness, and a strange figure near me. How did I even up here? Here, of all places. In the middle of a storm. Almost on cue, an ear-piercing clash of thunder erupted, making Adelaide bark in fear. The unknown figure near her started to whine. Another dog, perhaps. Adelaide thought, titling her head. She couldn't smell what it was, since the smells of the storm was what she smelled instead. But it was slightly comforting to know that the figure was most likely another dog. Adelaide started to build up the courage to go try to say something to the figure, or at least try to find out what it actually was. Adelaide crept closer, and the shadows that were washing over the figure faded away, and Adelaide saw another dog, a bit bigger than her. "Who are you?" Adelaide asked softly, as the other dog turned their head towards them. "Miichi." They replied simply. "Why are you out here?" Adelaide questioned. Miichi didn't reply. "We can go find shelter together." Adelaide offered. Miichi shrugged, but followed Adelaide. "We'll find shelter soon, don't you worry." She said quietly. She was unsure if Miichi heard her, but either way, it was her promise.

The two were beginning to lose hope. And Adelaide most definitely did not want to break her promise. "We're never going to find shelter in this mess." Miichi grumbled, and Adelaide replied with a sigh. "Don't completely give up yet. We still might have a chance." Adelaide said. "Well, it's going to become 'I still might have a chance.' Because I might as well leave now." Miichi said, looking down. "Don't be negative!" Adelaide said, raising her voice. Miichi shook his head silently. And then, it was almost like a miracle that suddenly struck. Not far from Adelaide and Miichi was what seemed like an old barn. "Over there!" Adelaide barked excitedly, running to the barn. Miichi closely trailing behind, as excited as Adelaide. "Ha! I told you not to give up!" Adelaide said, coming to a halt when they were right in front of the barn. Rain splashes down on their snouts, but they were too excited to care. The barn looked abandoned, and it was slowly falling apart, but it still worked as a shelter. They slipped in, and started to shake the water out of their fur. "We can wait until the storm is over, and then go back to our homes." Adelaide said. "I just realized I never asked for your name." Miichi then said. "Adelaide," she replied with a nod. "Well, thank you. Thank you Adelaide." Miichi thanked. "Your welcome," Adelaide smiled. "No promises were broken today."

Extra Words: Adelaide snuggled up to her mother's stomach, seeing the occasional fuzzy shapes around her. It wasn't like the pitch black world she was used to, but somewhere filled with more colours. "Their eyes are opening!" Her mother exclaimed excitedly. Adelaide heard paw steps coming towards her. She guessed it was her father. Every second she started to see more and more, and the shapes around her were less fuzzy. "About time." Her father said, gingerly nudging Adelaide's fragile body so he could see her face. "A true milestone." Her mother commented, sounding slightly tired. "I'm so excited to see our pups finally get to see what their parents look like. Her father mused. Finally, with a single blink the whole world around her built up and she could see the blurry figures were her siblings. She turned around, facing her mother with bright yellow eyes. "Ah! She's beautiful!" Her mother said, affectionately licking the top of Adelaide's head. "Well, of course she's beautiful. She's our pup." Her father said, also giving Adelaide a lick on the head. "Look! Another one opened their eyes!" Her mother said, her head turned to one of Adelaide's siblings. They went ahead and started to give their full attention to Adelaide's sibling, leaving Adelaide to inspect her surroundings. They were snuggled closely in a pretty worn out swampy green dog bed, with all sorts of toys laid around the dog bed. Adelaide curiously climbed out of the bed and sniffed one of the toys. She bit on it, and it made a loud squeak. Adelaide jumped back, but then continued to bite the toy, making squeaking noises every time. The sibling that opened their eyes after Adelaide skidded to her side, and titled their head. "Can I try that?" They asked. Adelaide nodded and nudged the toy over to them. They started to play with it, laughing each time it made a noise. Adelaide trotted back to where her mother and father were, and her mother lovingly nuzzled her daughter. "Oh my precious Adelaide. You'll grow up to be such a kind soul, and you know it."
