Personality;
Kanti is the kind of beranhund you'd find in the yard, lying on his back with a ball in his mouth, passed out. He's incredibly lazy, preferring to nap in the wagon rather than to pull it. Despite this, he'll happily do his job for Nikora. Not only does he love her enough to do so, but she also fills his bowl. Something odd about Kanti is that he has no predatory instincts, atleast as far as Nikora can tell. More than once they've been sitting by a fire and a rabbit will hop on by and Kanti won't pay any mind to it as he happily munches away at whatever object he's decided is his new chew toy for the day. How he survived in the wild is a mystery to Nikora.
Jobs;
Kanti has a multiple jobs he does. Since Nikora loves to travel and roam, she has given Kanti the job of pulling her wagon, filled with her their belongings. The wagon is comparable to a Romani wagon, though it's not as intricate in design. His second job is acting as a watch and guard dog, since she travels alone. He does this easily, alerting her to anything he thinks could be a threat. Though he loves everyone, he loves no one more then Nikora, and he would do what he needs to if it means protecting his human. His third job is letting Nikora saddle him up and ride him.
Lifestyle;
The lifestyle Kanti and Nikora live together is quite interesting, traveling from place to place with their wagon, meeting new people, seeing all sorts of things. On cold nights, Nikora has Kanti sleep in the wagon with her, though on warmer nights they lay outside on a blanket. While she watches the stars, he sleeps.
Story;
The beranhund rose to his feet, stretching out his muscles as he yawned. He began the short walk to the creek, ready to re-hydrate and then return to his previous state of sleep. His ears twitched as he made his journey, listening to the sounds the birds made high up above. He paused to listen to one that sounded particularly odd, but then his throat reminded him of what he was doing, and he resumed his journey. Upon reaching the creek, he saw one of those furless two-legged things by the creek, sitting by the edge of the water, dipping vibrant, soft looking things into the water. They sort of resembled the ones on its body. He walked up to the creek with the confidence an apex predator has, and made the discovery the noise he heard earlier was coming from the bipedal creature. He drank from the creek, keeping one eye on the two-legged and its bright and colorful .. things? He'd never seen a furless creature before, this was all new to him. After he was done drinking, he plopped himself down by the creek with enough force to make a loud thud. The two legged glanced at him and shook its head, making another weird noise, though it was showing its teeth. He laid there for a long time watching the hairless bipedal creature dip the colorful objects into the water, then squeeze the water out. They remained like this for so long the sun changed positions. Eventually, the Beranhund got curious enough to slowly belly-crawl sneakily over to the two-legger, his tail wagging the whole way. The two legged being didn't look his way though it was making noises and showing its teeth. Was it trying to challenge him? No, it didn't seem to be. He kept sneaking closer and closer, until he made it to the creature. He shoved his nose right up against it and sniffed. He got so distracted by the smells he didn't notice the two legged one put its front paw on his head and gently stroked the top of his head, then scratched behind his ear. He froze for a few seconds, wide eyed, before plopping his head down, growling happily at the lovely sensation. The bipedal being made another gentle noise and petted his head a few more times before resuming work. He sat up, disappointed that it had stopped, but he had another goal. He started sniffing the bright objects the furless one was washing. He picked one up in his teeth and shook it around. He dropped it and pawed at it. The two legged patted him gently, then moved the rest of the colorful contraptions away. The beranhund laid by the creature for awhile, playing with the colorful object it let him keep, until the two legged being stood up, gathering its things. He stood too, tail wagging. The two legger looked at him and made another one of those interesting sounds, similar to the call of a bird. It was directed at him. He tilted his head at the furless bipedal being one before it turned around and walked away. He jogged to its side and then walked lazily beside it, walking at a much slower pace then usual to keep beside the two-legged one. The furless creature glanced at him and said "Kanti. I will name you Kanti. Do you like that?" of course Kanti had no idea what those sounds meant yet, he just liked the noises the two-legger made and wagged his tail in response. The bipedal being made a noise, a happy one he assumed, as it led him back down the path he took earlier, though instead of going right to his cave, they went left, and ended up at a wooden thing. It had four round things on the bottom. The two legger looked at him and said "Welcome home, Kanti."
Saddle;
I was planning to do art, but my mouse decided "mm, no, I shall not work, there will be no art." and so I can't. But, I do have
this unfinished sketch of a saddle I was working on for my character Oreo, along with this
drawing I found of Naga from Legend of Korra, which also shows the idea of the saddle I was going for. Larger, flatter, unlike a horse saddle. I also have
this sledding harness I did for my character Chira. Kanti's would be similar in structure, though it wouldn't be purple and sparkly. I haven't decided what color would be best yet.
