Questions;1. Workshop One - Day Two ExerciseKalon Name: Eames
Link to Kalon: viewtopic.php?f=53&t=3348567Write about a time when your Kalon(s) lost something important or someone close to them: As a child, Eames was just as in love with birds as he is now, and his parents bought him a little pet goldfinch for his birthday one year. At first he was ecstatic, but the longer he owned the bird and watched its behaviors, the sadder he became. He would watch the birds outside soar and play on the wind currents, but his little caged finch couldn't do such things. Once he had gained the bird's trust and it responded to him, he began to let the bird out of the cage to fly around the house. That made him feel better for a while, but not for long. For weeks, Eames and his bird would sit at the window and watch the wild finches that came to visit his bird feeders, and he began to feel guilty that he was forcing his own bird to live indoors and denying him the chance to really spread his wings.
One day, Eames found himself standing by the back door, with his beloved little bird perched contentedly on his finger as he often was. With a deep breath, Eames padded outside onto the patio, and took one last look at his finch, petting it gently along its back. He cupped the bird in his hands, and set the creature free with an encouraging toss. Tears stung his eyes as he watched the flurry of yellow feathers disappear into the trees, and he felt his throat start to close up. But then, his heart was filled with relief, and he exhaled the breath he realized he'd still been holding. With the release of that breath, Eames released all the guilt he'd been filled with, and a warm feeling took its place. He had lost his precious pet, but felt that he had done the right thing, and that gave him peace. To this very day, Eames has never kept a bird caged.
Workshop Two - Writing PromptKalon Name: Eames
Link to Kalon: viewtopic.php?f=53&t=3348567Prompt: Eames had a happy childhood with parents who loved him-- pretty standard. His parents were very free-spirited and believed in self expression, and always encouraged him to do what made him happy. He very quickly discovered that birdwatching was what made him happy, and they took him to the park as often as they could to teach him about the different kinds of birds. Eventually, with the help of the library and his computer, he surpassed them in knowledge, and Eames became the one teaching his parents about the different kinds of birds.
Now that he is older, he lives a simple life-- he never went to college, and works at a landscape supply store as the manager of the gardening section. He makes enough money to support himself, and doesn't have much extra, but doesn't need it. He lives in Italy with his boyfriend, Dante, and his pet duck, Dollar, who he adopted from a rescue when he heard that she would not be able to return to the wild. It's not certain what the future holds for him, but he hopes to be a father someday!
Workshop Three - Day Three ExerciseName of Kalon: Eames
Link to Kalon: viewtopic.php?f=53&t=3348567What qualities does your kalon look for in a friend?Someone who loves birds, mostly! But other than that, Eames tends to like those who enjoy nature. He is pretty friendly, and can get along well with lots of different people.
What qualities does your kalon dislike in a friend?Eames tends to avoid people who litter, because to him that means they don't respect their environment. He also doesn't like anyone who seems to be naturally cruel or someone who only cares about themself.
Would they risk their life to save a friend? A stranger? As patient and friendly as Eames is, he isn't inherently brave. He'd do whatever he could to save a friend, but a stranger I'm not so sure. He might not be able to muster up the courage.
Is it easy or hard to earn their trust? Why?Eames trusts pretty easily! He doesn't have much of a reason not to, since not many things have happened to make him feel any other way. He also tends to give lots of chances since he doesn't lose his temper easily, and he likes to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
