Bought from the event.
For wilddog990.
"This poor filly was sold into auction out of the racing industry. She developed an odd gait and unsteadiness that they associated with a neurological disease, and was immediately disposed of, as is unfortunately common. When she was ridden into the ring at auction she fell twice, and the handler practically had to drag her the whole way through. No one else bid, and even the kill buyers knew she would be a pain to transport. We purchased her with the expectation that she would need to be humanly euthanized right afterwards. But thankfully, our vet brought only good news - it was a dangerous yet fully treatable ear infection. She has a slight malformation in her inner ears that makes her highly susceptible to middle ear infection, which in turn causes severe lack of balance and fracture pain in her skull. Left untreated she would likely have died simply due to the severity of the case. She isn't entirely out of the woods yet, but she is a young and otherwise healthy equine, so the issue is completely treatable with the help of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. We're hoping that once she is healthy and sound she will be a wonderful companion animal, though some occasional dizziness and or hearing loss for a few years to follow should be expected."

Task 1:
Every bump and curve on the road was a shock for her. Bangs and whinnies of fear could be heard coming from the trailer. Getting her into her new stall was the hardest part. We took it one step at a time. I would open the trailer door with a remote, inch by inch. When she got used to seeing me I fully opened the door. My steps were soft as I approached slowly. I finally was able to get close enough to lead her into a stall. I gently close it behind her. The 'click' of the door caused her to rear and skittishly circle around her stall. She lost her balance and fell, but got back up and continued to panic.
She finally calmed and I offered her a carrot. She didn't take at first. Her neck stretched out and she snatched the carrot out of my hands. When she was finished, she walked closer and sniffed my hand, as if wanting more. I took out another and this time she ate it without having to back away. I reached my hand up to her muzzle when she finished. She clearly didn't like that idea and jerked her head away. Her neck was still in reach so I stroked it reassuringly. I could feel her muscles relax and her head turned back to look at me. I was able to touch her muzzle and then I knew, that it would be a start to an amazing friendship. We still had some way to go though because she only let me stroke for a second till she trotted to the back of the stall. I wonder what had provoked her. I realized my companion had entered the stable and spooked her. If I wanted any progress I would have to ask my friends to stay out of the barn.
I counted 310 but is their a easier way to see the amount of words you have?

Task 2:
She was getting more comfortable around me everyday. Her balance is still off, and she falls often on a daily basis. I called the vet for the first checkup. I knew Moon would be scared but it had to be done. The vet came when she was edging through the pasture, trying to prevent herself from falling. Slowly I lead her into her stall. The vet watched my girls every move. Of course she lost her balance a few times before she could actually get into her stall.
The vet had finally checked her completely over but it was havoc to get her to calm down enough for the vet the check her. The vet informed me that she had a common neurological disease. Thankfully it was easily treatable, with a bit of hard work. I was given doses of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. I hadn't tried to ride her yet to to her unbalance. In a few months I might be lucky to get her around at a walking pace. I will never take her out to far due to her falling easily. My mystery of her not always responding to my clicks in whistles was solved with an answer of hearing loss. She has been through a few extra tests, just in case. Thankfully she is healthy other than her hearing and balance.

The owner section is linked with an X to your actual account regardless of what you change your username to, the typed version above it is to keep track of the written forms from the event thread and should stay the same as the name used in said form.
