Long ago, there was a tribe of Paeus Serpants. The tribe flourished for many years, however the many prophacies predicted by their elders soon approached closer, and closer.
It was tradition of this tribe, to send out the young ones when they reach a certain age and to learn of the world before returning home.
Kannan was one such Paues at one point, and his tribe adorned him with the jewelry now on him which represent luck and guidance in their travels.
However, when Kannan returned to his tribe many years later, he found no trace of them.

The polished stones that make up Verazu's jewelry aren't particularly special themselves- if you searched hard enough you could probably find more than a few in just about any cave. However, the memories that come from them are quite special to him. Verazu's mother often, if he and his siblings(lets just assume he had siblings) were well fed, would take them to travel, looking for shiny or pretty items to adorn their den. Eventually, he and one of his siblings decided to leave the den to start families of their own. Before they left to search for a home and mate, his mother gave both of them trinkets from the collection she and they had gathered. His had been the stringed stones he now wore.
