What are Nile River Equids?
Nile River Equids (NREs) are a sub-breed of Mustangs who were discovered to be living in Africa. They tend to range anywhere from 12 hh to 16 hh, while there have been known to be slightly smaller or larger. These horses tend to be able to sustain themselves on a minimal amount of water and food, they can travel long distances and have extraordinary stamina. The people who discovered these animals found that they were extraordinarily friendly and the braided tails are a sign that the NRE is domesticated or belongs to another person.

Owner: RebelliousWinter
Name: The Night Mare's Dream || Drew
Gender: Stallion
Age: 9 Years
Picture: Carrot Oatmeal Treats
Why: After the success of the pumpkin oatmeal treats Ailis made during Halloween, she decided to make a batch of Christmas-y treats with peppermints to celebrate the upcoming holiday. While all the horses at the ranch took to the minty fresh treats right away, Drew turned his nose up at them. Ailis was at a loss for awhile as to what to feed him, since she didn't want him to be left out. Given his already deep love for carrots, it was decided to make a batch of treats similar to the pumpkin one's, but with carrots instead. It took awhile to get the recipe down-pact but once it was finished Drew couldn't get enough of them! Now anytime Ailis is within vicinity of his stall, or pasture he'd run up to her and search around for the treats. It became a bit of a game after awhile and Ailis would hide the treats for Drew to find. It was a good thing for him, as not only did he get to eat his favorite treat, but get mental stimulation as well. Don't worry about her overfeeding him though! Ailis is being sure to only give the stallion the treats once or twice a week - Plus like most of her home-baked treats (Maybe not the peppermint ones...) they're healthy and very nutritious!

Name: July // We don't need any sleep
Gender: stallion
Age: 8 years
Picture: yogurt covered strawberriesWhy: July is quite a picky fellow when it comes to his treats, he doesn't like the crunch of harder foods like carrots and apples or the watery texture of melon or pears. For the longest time the only thing he would eat besides his hay, grass, and concentrates was yogurt, which didn't make the easiest treat to feed him. We tried too many different combinations of foods and yogurt, many of them resulting in failure. However, amongst the successful attempts, yogurt covered strawberries seemed to be a fan favorite. With a couple of these sweet treats you can get the usually stubborn fellow to do just about anything.
