What are Nile River Equids?

Nile River Equids (NREs) are a sub-breed of Mustangs who were discovered to be living in Africa. They tend to range anywhere from 12 hh to 16 hh, while there have been known to be slightly smaller or larger. These horses tend to be able to sustain themselves on a minimal amount of water and food, they can travel long distances and have extraordinary stamina. The people who discovered these animals found that they were extraordinarily friendly and the braided tails are a sign that the NRE is domesticated or belongs to another person.

A snort could be heard from within the old abandoned wooden barn. It was early morning, but not to early that the crisp fog hadn't been touched and the birds were silent. An old owl resided in the barn, his life being put to rest when the sun decided to peak it's tip through the window and the owl concluded his nightly reign. The red paint of the old barn is chipped and warn down to a point where it appears to be not even paint at all, but some long ago memory. The sun's rays fell upon a sleeping Stallion, one who's coat shown with the glimmering dew drops of the sweet summer grass which clumped in the barns flooring. The light laid up on the lad and as if on cue the Stallion's eyes opened. With a quick flick of his ears and a stretch of his neck the beautiful horse was up and standing. The long braided tail dileberatly swatted at flies who had not yet even appeared but seemed to already be buzzing. The Stallion, or better known as Domino, was not a wild horses by any means. He was in fact 'owned' if that's what you would call it, by a man 20 miles away from here. But the man paid no head to Domino so Domino paid no head to the man. Taking his own life by the reigns Domino promptly left the man all together and found this here comfy barn to reside in. Domino didn't need no owner to take care of him, all Domino needed was the track. Just the thought of the track sent a whiney through Domino as he pawed one hoof on the clumps of grass. Joy clearly danced in the Stallion's eyes as Domino trotted out of the barn, his head high as the dirt road before him shown with pebbles. As if a certain road was paved just for Domino the Stallion strutted through the tall grass, thinking he could just hear all the cheers now from his adoring fans. Ears perked at attention Domino easily gridded over the broken wire fencing from the road and reared up in the middle. In Domino's eyes there were crowds and crowds of people, all standing, taking pictutes, being amazed by the beautiful Stallion before them. But in reality all that accompanied Domino was a small mouse that dashed a crossed the unused pebble road. Domino wasn't discouraged in the least though and sailed over the other end of the fence into a thicket of berry bushes. A clear trail of crushed and dents in the bushes could tell many travelers that this was a trail taken multiple times every day. The funny fact was only one soul creature alone made this wide gap in the nature of the berry bushes, Domino. The young Stallion was taking it right now in fact, trotting through the tough brush to come into a clearing. There where trees all around and if one wasn't careful they could get lost with ease. Domino traveled forward with no hesitation as he had traveled this one trail to many times to count. One could say he knew the trail like the old owl that Domino woke up to and saw every morning. The trees thinned until only few remained, the vines entangled in a massive wall. Domino didn't mind the wall anymore as he simply let over the vines, his hooves inches away. Domino's leg muscles were indeed quite strong since he traveled here almost every day, all the time having to jump over these walls or mounds of dirt or any obstacle really. Then finally after the whole thirty minutes of traveling Domino stopped, his ears at full attention, nose dipped down as Domino's blue eyes stared straight ahead. There in the middle of an over grown grassy field was an old track. Domino lowered his head in respect and when he rose again there was a determined look in the Stallion's eyes. Domino knew at this moment, it was him agaisnt the track, as it was every day, morning and afternoon. And always, always, always.... Domino would go beyond the track.

Hi There! I'm Chico_Mistpool, otherwise known as Mist! I am a horse lover through and through. I currently have two species I am working on for adopts, Sea Kings and Hippocampi of the Pacific Sea. The links should be to the right of this. I love speaking to new people so feel free to PM me. I'm not really into the pets side of things anymore, but I still trade and collect them so just trade away! On the right, I will be linking important links to me and some advertising. Thanks for reading!

I've been on like a 6-7 month hiatus..... soooo to all that know me sorry. And Boop! I'm revamping??? Everything??? Idk what you would call it. I've found myself I think, through fan fiction, high school drama and a whole lot of maturing. Have a new room, new sense of humour, yeah. Ready to start helping the world. I think??? Still questioning my messed up life where I'm pretty sure my old cat is my spirit animal, I have a tea addiction (weak and sweet mind you!) and possibly building a author/ artist career??? There's a lot of question marks but that's life.

Always expect more questions than answers and you might just find yourself. xoxo

Name: A Spotted Jewel || Farida
Origin/Meaning: N/A || Arabic - "Precious pearl or gem"
Gender: Mare
Age: 5 Years
╘═══════════════════════════════════════════╛
╒═══════════════════════════════════════════╕
Personality:
Stubborn | Free-Spirited | Dreamer | Gentle | Graceful

Farida is a stubborn mare, slow to listen or to be convinced.
She sticks to what she thinks or plans and trying to turn
her another direction either takes a long time or is nearly
impossible. She is independent and loves to be free to
run and move as she pleases. She is a dreamer and is
always imaging all sort of scenarios, wishing her life
was more exciting, wondering what it is like to be free.
She is a gentle mare at heart and would never harm a
soul, she especially loves telling stories to the foals in the
herd, telling them about all the things she imagined while
she was daydreaming. She also enjoys playing with the
foals, getting them to pretend they are wild, or get them
to chase each other and herself. She is a graceful mare,
running with a smooth grace and being a horse with a smooth
gate and graceful movements.

My New Home:
I would be one of the first few Nile River Equids to join this stable. There was all sorts of horses there,
all sorts of species, but there was only one other Nile River Equid. I will tell my story from the beginning
though, tell you how I came to this stable an how I became friend with A Glimpse Of Sunshine, or Ray as
I like to call him.
I was weaned from my mother as five months old, and boy was I scared. I did not like the idea of ever
being separated from her, even if it was for a short amount of time. I stood next to the fence for days,
crying out to her, and she would call back in reply, but not as often as I would have liked. I soon gave
up and watched my mother from the fence and she disappeared and reappeared from behind the barn.
I did not know I had already been sold, it was just a matter of preparing me for my new home. Being
petted my humans, touched by them more and more, being led around using the strange object on my
head, and getting me used to different objects such as brushes, and getting me to eat more and more
grains and grass. They also got me used to a strange stall, not like the ones I was used to in the barn,
but a stall connected to the back of the strange monsters they used to move around. I was terrified at
first, it was noisy when I walked in, it did not seem as safe as the stall in the barn. I wasn't sure, but
I adjusted the more I was led in and out. It showed no sign of being dangerous, no sign of hurting me.
My life, but it was a good change, I became more independent, I could stick up for myself and was no
longer afraid of the things I used to be. I felt strong, and I liked that feeling, I felt free and I never
wanted to lose that. I was glad, but that was soon to change. Who knew being independent could mean
such loss.
I did not think of the trailer as a bad thing, I did not think of the strange stall to be a danger, but my
thoughts changed when it closed behind me one day, and then is started to move. I had been in it
while moving before, but this seemed different. It moved much further then ever before, much longer
and I had a strange feeling. I felt nervous the longer the ride went on, the further we drove, and soon
it slowed down, but something was very off. I watched the ramp open, and looked out into the daylight.
This was not home, I had no idea where I was. I was a year old by this time, the time I came to my new
home, a stable that bred, trained and showed many great show horses. My new home with the humans
who bought me. I followed my human out of the trailer and into was appeared to be a small pasture.
I watched them walk away, watching them over the fence. They talked to a couple of humans,
exchanged some paper, and soon they were leaving without me, driving out of the yard and back onto
the road which had brought us here. I called out, but hear their monster fade into the distance.
Separation was much harder then I thought it would ever be.
I was lonely at first, being the only one in the small pasture, but it was between the corners of two
of the larger fields, and that is where I met Ray. I trotted into the corner, wondering about the two
herds that lived in such close proximity to me. Many of the horses were far out into the field, some
were lightly built horse with somewhat of a concave face and surefootedness that seemed natural.
The others were more of a heavy build, friesians, but not the normal black ones I heard of. They
were of all sorts of colors, some very unusual and unique. Then there was the one out of place horse
in the center field. A Nile River Equid stallion, sooty palomino with reddish eyes, and he was looking
at me. Watching him walk towards me made me notice he was not too much older then me, maybe
by a year. "You must be our new herd member." he said. He spoke in a warm an welcoming way, but
he also seemed to grin. "My name is A Glimpse Of Sunshine, but you may call me Ray for short."
I was unsure how to reply at first, but I quickly shook it off as I remembered to introduce myself.
"A Spotted Jewel, but you may call me Farida." I replied. "It is a pleasure to meet you." he spoke
up again. "Maybe you'll end up a member of my herd. I hope you do." he smiled one last time and
left before I could reply, but I was thrilled. I was thrilled that someone came to talk to me, that
someone wanted me as a part of their family, that I was at least welcomed by some. I felt less
lonely, and knew this was only the beginning of my path through life.

Owner: DarkestWerewolf

Name: Warrior's Armour // Bulletproof

Gender: Stallion

Age: 7 years old

Personality:
Bulletproof is rather headstrong and can be a tad bit arrogant at times. However, he is very ambitious and determined to succeed in whatever he strives for. This also fuels and grows his competitive spirit. He likes to have only a small circle of friends as he prefers it that way. This meant he is also quite close with those he knows. Despite this, it doesn't mean he is unfriendly to those that aren't in his social circle. He doesn't mind being by himself as well as he enjoys just letting his mind wander.

Backstory:
Bulletproof grew up as the youngest of 3 other older brothers. This meant that competition and brotherly rivalry was already high when he first got in. He wasn't especially doted on in anyway as his sire and dam loved all four equally and would give their undivided attention and love to them. Despite having a rather competitive and rough childhood, being the youngest and also the weakest, Bulletproof thrived and made the best of what he could in that environment. He loss many times to his older brothers but it never deterred him, in fact, it spurred him on to be better than them which he eventually did. Since then, it has carved his personality in such a unique way.

Friend:
Clockwork Magic // Athlai
Image
Athlai is an altruistic stallion, has lots of leadership, very courageous but can be very competitive. He aspires to have his own herd one day and is determined to achieve it. He is honest and trustworthy but once the trust is broken, he will not hesitate to get you out of his life. Athlai can be a bit emotional at times, letting some of his anger slip out of his control, get too hyper or just cry out.

Both Athlai and Bulletproof are what others always say; brothers from different mothers. Athlai is always there for Bulletproof and Bulletproof is always there for Athlai. They both help to keep each other grounded as well. When Bulletproof becomes too arrogant or headstrong, Athlai will be there to ground him and reason with him. When Athlai lets his emotions slip, Bulletproof will always be there to lend a listening ear and to comfort or calm him down. With both being racing horses, they both are always competing with each other, which also led to them being rivals.
