thefartherstar wrote:Abbott is an extraordinarily bookish viscet, spending nearly 70% of his time in his university library. He is a student of history at a prestigious college. He is in fact, from the 1940s (World War 2 era), so feel free to work around that, or include it your character development. He is the child of two rogues, his mother having been a slave to humans in Africa until his father rescued her. Growing up in a harsh environment, but with a loving pack and parents, Abbott is painfully shy, with a stutter as well. When he came of age, Abbott's mother decided it best that he be sent off for a better life. Not leaving his family for good, but to get a formal education. He was then transported, alone, to London, where he lived with a kind couple for two years, while prepping for school. He then attended a university is Glasgow, Scotland, (where he developed a light accent). Life went on as usual... Studies, lectures, and his shy complex overtaking him from time to time. He then met Sebastian, a young up-start studying business. They became fast friends, Sebastian even managing to dig up the gold in Abbott's heart. Invigorated by Sebastian's support, Abbott enlisted in the Royal Air Force as an aviator in the ongoing war. These are basics of Abbott's backstory and character... So good luck!

Name - Serafina (Commonly referred to as Sera)
Personality - Serafina's mother gave her an angelic name, but also one that was strong. She hoped this name would shape Serafina into someone who was kind but yet knew when to be strong. Indeed, this seems to be the way of things with Sera. She carries an almost masculine appeal and seems to radiate strength. She is not a 'fair lady' by any sort, and she never longs to be. Sera knows the cruelties of the world and she knows that she must be strong in order to face them head on. Regardless of how many times she may be knocked down she will never wallow in self pity. Such things are a waste of time, instead, she is quick to pick herself back up and move on. Sera never got to go to school so she lacks 'school smarts', though what she lacks there she makes up for with 'street smarts'. She has all the makings of a great leader, though she does not enjoy leading or guiding others. She does not want others well being in her hands and, if someone attempts to lean on her she will try and force them to support themselves. Supporting ones self is extremely important to her, as through her life she has done only that. If you can not rely on yourself, then how could you rely on others, she believes. She does not intentionally push people away, but her self reliant ways and her constant pushing forward seems to leave others behind, further leaving her alone in the world. She has only the goal of keeping her eyes straight ahead and pushing her way towards the dawn. She values strength a great deal, attempting to push those that act weak to become strong. Whether this is physically or mentally. (298 words)
Relationship -
Abbott was sent away long before Sera was born. For a good portion of her early ears her mother lovingly told Sera of her brother and how eventually Sera would go stay where he was. To learn like her brother and become smart like he was. Sera remembers how her mother affectionately described Abbott to her, from the tip of his nose down to his 'cute little tail tuft.' Apparently Sera looked a great deal like her brother. 'You two are almost like twins!' She'd say to Sera. Though as Sera began to grow, the age for her to enter school came and went. The first two years her parents had not had the money to send her away like they had her brother. Though the third year came and finally it was time. Abbott and Sera would finally see one another! A tearful goodbye was made and Sera set off, the ship ride expected to be a boring ride. This was not the case, though. Though pirates have changed over the times they still yet exist...and Sera's ship was unlucky enough to become a target of these pirates. Cargo and people alike were taken and the ship burned and sunk. It was here that Sera's short life began to grow darker. Several of the passengers were sold while others were kept by the pirates to take the place of the ones who had died during their travels. For several years Sera remain a slave on the pirate ship, cleaning up after the filthy creatures that lived on it. Eventually the ship was apprehended by a coastal military fleet. The slaves were freed but not properly processed and tended to. Most were offered a phone to call family and that was it. Sera did not bother with this, as she knew her parents financial state was not the best. Her mindset was that, now that she was here, she could seek out her brother instead. She might as well move forward instead of back. There was nothing for her there anyway. With effort Sera made her way to London, where she knew her brother to be. It did not take her long to find him, how could she miss a creature that looked so much like her? She need not have seen him before to have known him as her brother...
From the day of their meeting Sera was in love with her brother. The two of them were exceptionally different and at times he grates on her nerves. She tries her best to help him become more extroverted and 'strong' as she puts it, but she also knows that this is the son her mother adores with all her heart. She wouldn't want to change him too much. Abbott is a very intelligent viscet and this frustrates Sera as well. She does not understand some of the things he talks about and she may, in fact, be a little jealous of how his life has gone so smoothly. He has had the ability to study and advance in life while she can not read or write, she can barely even count. Sera does not allow this jealousy to rule her, though sometimes it does come to a head. She also does not want to bother her brother to teach her, as this would take his time from his own studies. She tries to be encouraging to him and though their meeting is still fresh, she knows him as nothing less than her brother. She holds the same love for him as if they had been together since day one. Memory -
To place one memory over another and label it as a favorite would be an exceptionally hard thing for Sera to do. Her favorite is, in fact, a collection of memories. Or more so, something that her mother used to do for her nightly. Her mother always had a way with words, and despite how hard the world could be or how harsh the day had been for her at that point, she always told Sera a bedtime story. Something so very simple is cherished by Sera with all her heart. She actually used/uses this as nightly fuel, playing her mothers voice over in her head and reciting one of the many stories she was told at bedtime when she was small. Her mother had always played the rolls perfectly, changing her voice to match a psychotic villain, or a dainty princess, or a knight. She even hissed as she played the part of snakes, growled like wolves, and whispered when the time called for it. Sera's mother knew how to weave a story that one could get so engrossed in that they'd forget exactly where they were. They could see the images flashing before their eyes and wept for the hurt taking place at that time. Where as most of Sera's mothers stories had happy endings, some of them were unfinished, some continue nightly, some even ended tragically. Sera remember asking her mother why, the first time. The reply her mother gave her was very simple. In life, not everyone gets to have a happy ending. Sometimes things to not work out as we would like them to, sometimes they do. A lot of the time they do not, though. The best thing one could do was to try and take what they were given and make the best out of it. A great many life lessons were learned from those stories alone. From lives that Sera never lived but sometimes wished she could. She deeply misses her mothers stories, even now, and even despite the way she feels she should not look into the past, she often wishes to go back to those nights. In her life there has simply been nothing she remembers more fondly than that. (371 words)

1) More about Serafina.
For a long time Sera's only goal was to reach her brother. To find him and hopefully find herself a place where she could rest easy. Though she has found her brother she also found that she does not quite fit in his world. She is uneducated where he is absolutely brilliant. As much as she enjoys spending time with him she knows she can not stay for long. She, however, lies to her brother. She claims she has a pleasant home with a steady job and a normal life. This is all so that he will hopefully not worry himself or send letters to their parents and make them worry. Sera plays the part of a normal civilian when with her brother, though the moment she leaves him and enters her own 'territory' she seems to harden. Serafina lives on the streets, the locals having come to be quite familiar with her and those she hangs out with. Though she does not claim to be a part of any particular gang, there are several members of different gangs/packs who seem to hang out with her. Oddly enough, even though some of the gang members are rivals they seem to reach a mutual moment of peaceful understanding when hanging out with her. She can quickly put someone in their place if they incite too much trouble around her. She does not want to harm her brothers reputation or cause him and her family any problems by accidentally getting put in jail or getting into trouble. For the most part, the 'friends' she has made in the group of street thugs ends up feeding her, though there are a couple side jobs she takes to earn extra cash. If she isn't hungry she sends gifts home. (299 words)
