"i wasn't bullied! ...and it isn't a black eye. it's just a bruise." joakim would laugh, but it was his kid. and that meant it wasn't funny. he and clark were standing in the doorway; callum was stuffed inside his kitten's egg bed, crammed into the small, soft hide-away with the kitten curled up in his lap, fast asleep. the kitten, drake, purred softly as callum stroked it with a small paw.
"what should we do?" joakim whispered to his husband, clark. clark was sweating. his hair was standing on end, and he was shaking a little bit. "i have to leave, you know," joakim stated with a shaking voice. "for work. he's been in here all night, and nothing's changed. now you're here. you need to try something different."
"o-okay. i'll try my best. good luck, and have a great day at work." callum moved within the egg to turn his back to the two adult kalons, squishing drake in the process. the small, brown tabby kitten squeaked and darted out of the cat egg. "do you know what happened...?" clark said in a hushed voice, his mouth turned downward in a frown. joakim ignored clark for a second and stared blankly at drake. a few seconds later, he snapped out of it.
"he.." joakim paused and lowered his voice. "a few kids were teasing him because he's.. chubby. he doesn't want to talk about it... i think he's trying not to think about it. someone needs to go into his room and do something. and that someone has gotta be you. i have to go.. bye, clark! ...and, good luck. love you." joakim gave clark a little kiss on the nose, wished him good luck once more, and left for work.
what![Image](http://i.imgur.com/nwp8sGv.png)
clark stood, dazed.
this was gonna be hard. not only did clark have no idea how to handle the situation, but he was alone. and there was probably a time limit.
"ahhh, hey bud. growing up sucks and i know you wanna be left alone..."
"growing up doesn't suck! there's nothing wrong. all i want is for you to leave my room."
clark quietly exited the room, leaving the door open a crack.
-
"it's been an hour, callum. don't you want to eat something? i baked cookies!" callum didn't respond. "i know you don't want us to see your black eye, dear, but-"
"it's not a black eye. it's a bruise." clark sighed and set the cookies down on callum's desk. he then left the room. a second later, the door creaked and something slid across the floor of the room. there was a quiet meow and the door to the room shut.
-
clark had no idea what to do. it had been another hour, and callum hadn't left the egg. even with the cookies and the kitten inside his room, callum stayed. joakim would be home in a few hours too- maybe he could wait? he contemplated the idea for a few minutes before he heard a sniffle from the direction of callum's room. no. definitely not. he'd have to do something... but what?
-
"hey. callum."
"what, dad?"
"the cookies are getting cold."
"i don't care. go away." clark looked sadly at the egg, and left the room. before he closed the door, he paused.
"oh, by the way- i believe you."
a few minutes later, the door opened.
callum stood in the doorway, with a black eye and messy fur. he walked into the kitchen and hugged clark as tight as he could. a few tears dripping from his eyes. "i'm sorry, dad." clark pulled his son up onto his lap and gave him a little squeeze.
"it's not your fault. it never was. i'm sorry i didn't know what to do." callum was silent for a second, before he grabbed clark's hand.
"can i have a cookie?"
