Arizona is a confident mare. Headstrong and fearless she doesn't back down from any challenge. Aloof by nature, she does not bond with others easily (human or horse) but once she does she will defend those she cares about fiercely. She is not an easy mare to ride as she does not tolerate being mistreated, even if it is unintentional. Riders must have a steady seat, quiet hands and ask things of her rather than demand; she is not suited for beginners. The exception to this is children. She will be quiet and stoic if a child is riding her; taking care of her small mount at all times.
With other horses she is standoffish most of the time. She takes her time getting to know members of a herd and prefers to stick to the outskirts. She's not quick to start a fight but will not hesitate to defend herself if needed.
Even though she is not overly friendly by nature, she does have a softer side once she trusts others. In rare moments she will even be affectionate if she feels it is deserved.
