Twin A's Personality
endearing โข strong-willed โข sweet โข oblivious โข forgetful โข meddlesome
Xenia is full of emotion. Most of it is positive. She enjoys inspiring her peers, most of all her dear sister. Though she's pure of heart the majority of the time, she also has a habit of snooping in other people's business. She knows it's wrong, but she does it anyway. Since Xenia isn't the most intelligent person in the world, she relies more on hard evidence than common sense to fill in the holes in very simple-to-understand scenarios. Xenia is also very feminine and spends a lot of her time admiring other doll's fashion choices. Xenia tends to prefer tradition over change and acts just like a proper lady of the Victorian era.
Twin B's Personality
pessimistic โข thoughtful โข honest โข peculiar โข knowledgeable โข romantic
Noor couldn't be more different than her sister. When meeting her, one may find that her most obvious trait is pessimism. She sees almost everything in a very dark light; every what-if situation is automatically bound to be a disaster to her. Despite this, deep in her heart she dreams for a better world where everyone is happy. Unlike Xenia, Noor is quite academically smart. It seems like she can get her way out of any bad situation, even if she doesn't for a second believe that she can. A lot about this doll is a mystery to all but her twin sister Xenia, so unless you're her, don't expect to get much context as to what she's doing or why.
What do they use their pens for?
The twins aren't very vocal with each other. They'll talk, but they aren't great at conveying more than their most basic thoughts. Their shadows, the pens, help them compose their deepest thoughts and feelings to each other. Throughout the day their shadows listen to them and help them remember what they meant to say, and then at the last minute of the day, the girls write letters to each other containing all of their thoughts of each other from the entire day. The next morning they exchange envelopes. This helps clear up misunderstandings, though sometimes what's written in the letters would be of more use to the twins at the time the thoughts were most relevant.
How did Twin B crack their face?
"Why did you look through my journal?" Noor snapped. She stood in the doorway of the room she shared with her sister. Xenia was hunched over a small book. To her side was a key and the trunk that went to it.
Xenia looked up, blushing and hiding the book. "I'm sorry, but... Are the things in your journal true?"
Noor sighed, knowing that the journal contained her most unfavorable thoughts towards her sister, ones she dare not even put in a letter. "Yes."
Xenia narrowed her eyebrows and stood. "You're a liar then!" she hissed.
"Am not!" Noor gasped. "Not telling the truth isn't lying, either."
Xenia looked genuinely hurt. "You could've told me. I don't like you!" she pushed Noor as hard as she could to the ground. Noor's face felt numb. Xenia's eyes widened at the sight of her twin's cracked face, but she didn't apologize. Instead she rushed out of the bedroom, leaving the broken Noor alone.
That night Noor's letter was quite passionate. How dare her sister call her a liar? How dare she rifle through her personal business? And most of all, how dare she crack her face and leave her to rot? She hadn't looked at Xenia since the accident. In fact, she'd kept her eyes closed for the majority of the rest of the day. She went to bed slightly angry, but mostly devastated that her face be destroyed by the person she knew best.
Noor was the first to wake up in the morning. She saw Xenia's letter on the desk and grumpily tore the envelope. She read the letter.
Noor, I am so, so sorry! I might've meant to hurt you in the spur of the moment, but I never meant to crack your face! I was really just upset about the journal, which I know I shouldn't have looked through to begin with. I'm sorry.
Noor rolled her eyes. She swore Kynรค must be the best liar in the world. She was about to throw the letter away when something at the very end of the letter caught her eye. Three words, separate from everything else on the page. Three words Noor had never seen before, yet she knew exactly what they meant.
I love you.
