I would like you to know that because I cannot draw this will be a lot of reading so I apologize!
[ Name ]Adonis | Meaning Handsome or A Lord.
[ Gender ][ Hobby ] I would like you to know that because there is no word limit on this one, I am taking FULL advantage of that. c;Stopping The Ivory Trade/Saving The Elephants
Adonis slept soundly in the embrace of his big sister,
Camilla. The ground had cooled beneath them as they slept beneath a bush. The ground had been dug up underneath it to provide a dip in the ground to protect them from being seen considering both of them were as colorful as a rainbow. As the African sun rose above the horizon the two viscets awoke. Adonis was a tiny viscet and wasn't allowed to go too far from their nest so he often just sat outside it watching and hoping that animals would walk by so he could playfully chase them, never minding their size.
Days, weeks, and soon months passed and Adonis grew much bigger than his "big" sister. Growing up Millie had been like his parent because honestly their parents weren't ever around after he was born. The two of them did everything together and protected each other. Millie's only quirk was that she refused to leave the small forested area that they lived in although their bush was slightly outside of the main forest. Adonis had always wanted to head out to the large open areas but never left Millie alone until he just had to know what was out there.

It was a cool summer night and Adonis waited until Camilla was soundly sleeping before slipping away from their bush home. The air was clean and Adonis could smell gazelle, zebras, lions, and even giraffes nearby. He headed towards the scents and after about a mile and a half he found himself at a small spring. The water was fresh and cold and all the animals moved providing a pathway for him considering his size. He loved watching and chasing the animals around(he never grew out of that) and the animals knew he meant no harm because he didn't eat any meat. He went to the spring every night but soon Camilla began to notice just how tired he was during the day and began questioning him. His heart didn't want to lie to her but his head said it was best so he kept his nightly outings a secret until one night Millie stayed awake to follow him. Adonis jogged silently to the spring and noticed there were few animals there tonight so he sat on the edge and soon fell asleep there. Millie stood a little ways off watching. As dawn came, Millie woke up to see Adonis surrounded by elephants. She had always been deathly afraid of them and avoided them at all costs, "Adonis!" Adonis jerked awake to the voice of his sister and looked around quickly suddenly realizing he was surrounded by large grey animals. Some were taller than he was. The had long, slender trunks with sharp, beautiful tusks and gentle, kind eyes. Standing slowly so as not to spook them he found himself face to face with one of the giants and he felt a tinge of fear spreading throughout the group of creatures. "Adonis!" Adonis shrugged off his sister's urgent calls and continued his way around the creatures. Nearly an hour passed before they left and Adonis walked to his sister, his mind full of questions like how she had gotten there and how she had known where he was but all he asked was, "What were those?" "Elephants! You need to avoid them, they might be dangerous!" Adonis shook his head violently, "No." "No?! What do you mean no?" Adonis stared into his sister's eyes, "Those creatures mean no harm." Millie shook her head in disbelief, "Let's get home, I don't like it out here." Adonis nodded and the two journeyed home together.
Three months passed and Adonis had become accustomed to the five different elephant groups that often journeyed to the spring. He would happily gallivanted around them as they drank and became acquainted with them all, even the young ones. The strongest males would even allow him a ride occasionally but one day the ride turned deadly. Sitting atop one of the largest elephants he had ever seen Adonis lifted his head to the rising sun. He knew he should get off and head home but he didn't want to today. This elephant, whom he kindly referred to as Duke, walked slowly and delicately across the ground. As the sun rose into the sky a new scent his Adonis' nose, a harsh scent that he had never smelt before. The elephants caught it too and the smell of fear spread between the group as they began walking quicker. He could feel Duke's heart beating harder and faster and he stood atop him to get a view of the creatures scaring the majestic beasts. Whipping his head around he saw movement in the scarce forest to his right. As he stared into the trees the elephants to his left began to make a terrifying noise and he whipped around to see two-legged creatures much smaller than he and the elephants rush out from behind large rocks with odd tools that made loud noises. Suddenly an elephant fell dead and Adonis yelped in fear or maybe anger he wasn't sure. He had named her Debbie and as her body hit the ground he found himself rushing the two-legged creatures. He clawed at their bodies to rip away their weapons and destroy them against trees or his own knees. Without their little weapons the humans couldn't fight back and he was successful in scaring them all away but looking around he noticed the other elephants had fled the scene. Moments later a

thin viscet approached Adonis cautiously, "Hello?" Adonis whipped around in full defense mode before he noticed it was just another viscet, "Who are you?" "The name's Peter! What's your name?" "Adonis." "I can't believe you just full out attacked the humans, that's against the rules." Adonis had no idea what rules Peter was talking about, "Huh? Rules?" Peter quickly realized this viscet was not one he had even remotely seen before, "You don't know, do you?" "Know what?!" Adonis began to get angry but tried to hide it. "Do you know anything about the ivory trade?" Adonis grew more grumpy, "The what?" Peter shook his head, "Here, follow me." Adonis watched the viscet walk away without following at first but curiosity had its hand around his heart so he followed at a distance. Within half a mile the thin forest opened revealing huge field with large, burning piles of elephant trunks. Adonis' first instinct was angrer, "What is this?!" Peter turned and quickly explained, "We steal the trunks that hunters stole from the elephants and burn them. Their trunks produce ivory knick knacks that other humans buy from the hunters. It's just wrong and all the elephants are dying out quickly!" Adonis grew fearful that his elephant friends were in danger, "How can we help them?" "Well recently we've taken to dying their tusks pink because it doesn't harm the elephants and then their ivory isn't usable so hunters don't kill them...", the viscet paused before continuing, "the only problem is that we can't get close enough to them without scaring them off." Adonis laughed, "They're like my best friends, what're you talking about." Peter shrugged and handed a brown satchel to Adonis, "The bag contains the pink dyes. If you run low you can always make it yourself." After learning the methods of making dye Adonis headed home to Camilla who was worried sick.
"Where have you been?! I was worried sick!" Adonis tried to calm her, laughing the entire time, "Millie, I'm fine okay?" He then explained the predicament that the elephants were in but Camilla refused to get near them. Suddenly her blue eyes flicked open, "How about I make the dye for you?" Adonis considered the thought and nodded happily, bouncing around like a child he suddenly stopped and hugged Millie tightly. "What was that for," she laughed. He shrugged but smiled the whole time. Ever since that day he has spent his time saving elephants and destroying the weapons of the humans.
Disclaimer: This is not currently happening to save elephants but hopefully in the future it will be. Rather this is what is happening to save Rhinos but it can be used for elephants as well.
From Another Site wrote:The Rhino Rescue Project is taking a two-pronged approach to making rhino horn as undesirable to poachers as possible. They are in fact infusing a permanent dye (the same type of dye used to stain stolen bank notes) directly into the horns of living rhinos. This dye makes the horn unusable for ornamental purposes and can also be detected on airport x-ray scanners, even if ground to a fine powder. Along with the dye, the other step the Rhino Rescue Project is taking is to contaminate the horns of living rhinos with ectoparasiticides (toxins used to kill parasites such as ticks). Ectoparasiticides are safe for the animals, but will cause symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and convulsions in humans. Because rhino horn is made into medicine and ingested by people, contaminating the horns makes them unusable for this purpose.
[ Why I Want Him ]Well it started with his looks, I mean you really couldn't understand my love for stained glass. My grandparents house is filled with stained glass that's so beautifully elegant.. not to mention old and expensive. The way the sun shines through it is also stunning and this viscet just perfectly en captures it; you really did a wonderful job! Anyways, my second thoughts with seeing it were elephants, painted elephants specifically. I've just really had a heavy heart and I want to make a difference in saving elephants but I just can't right now but it doesn't mean I can't have a viscet that does haha. One of my biggest dreams is to ride an elephant one day. I really tend to put parts of myself into the viscets I try out for and I like who I view this viscet as. I have some great art ideas as well but I can't put them into action with such a short time period, maybe in the future? owo
[ Alaqua ]It had been two and a half years since Camilla agreed to create dyes for Adonis to use to save the elephants of Africa but creating pink over and over had gotten boring so she started creating blues, greens, reds, and neutral colors like white and black. Soon she began painting the trees and the ground itself with these colors making their home just as colorful as the viscets that lived in it. As she stood painting a tree she heard the sound of an elephant and froze before dropping to the ground. She looked around through the trees at about the height an elephant would stand only to look down and come face to face with an infant elephant. She just stared as it walked right up to her but the second it touched her with its trunk she jerked away and sat staring at it once more. It looked terrified and Millie knew leaving it by itself would mean it's death so she reached her paw out and let it come close enough to touch her. Wincing as it touched her she soon found herself petting it and it followed her home that night. Adonis didn't come home every night so Camilla didn't think anything of him not coming home but she desperately wished he wouldn't leave her alone with an elephant. Four days came and went leaving Millie alone to bond with the baby elephant and it followed her around quickly learning to lift a stick and paint like she did. Befriending the elephant was a step forward for her but one day Millie accidentally spilt paint all over it's foot and feared the worst. The elephant didn't make a move and completely ignored the paint but Millie suddenly had an idea. That night Adonis returned to see a happy Millie seemingly holding something behind her back, "Guess what?" Adonis stared confusedly, "What?" Suddenly the elephant walked out from behind her covered head to toe in paint designs, "Woah?! Where did he come from?!" Millie shrugged, "I dunno. I didn't see any parents so I figured I'd care for him." Adonis laughed, "I need to go away more often."
Soon Millie began joined Adonis on his trips and while he dyed their tusks she painted their entire bodies. With little Alaqua(the baby elephant) simply following along, always well painted.

[ Descendant ]Adonis spent the next four years of his life with elephants, they were the air he breathed and the reason his heart beat in his chest. He loved them. The first elephant he had ever ridden, Duke, had only one child whom Adonis named Descendant. Descendant grew to be one of the biggest elephants Adonis had ever seen. This elephant was specifically special because it had saved Adonis' life. Adonis had been making one of his weekly visits checking on the groups of elephants that he cared for and wasn't paying much attention to the group of hunters spreading their way around the elephants. They weren't in it for the ivory though, they were in it to kill Adonis. With his back turned a hunter lifted its gun but only seconds later Descendant came crashing down on the human ending it's life. Spinning around Adonis saw a satisfied Descendant and smiled knowingly at him. Ever since then Adonis had taken it into his own hands to paint Descendant like stained glass to look like himself. No other elephant could compare and Adonis enjoyed that.
