You got 11 gems for completing the last checkpoint!

Side Trail 2 --

You prepare yourself for another long walk as you get back on your paws and veer away from the main road. Even with you skipping the unnecessary loop-de-loops, the thin trail seems to stretch on forever. Thankfully, the clouds overhead clear, allowing the sun to shine down on your pelt and dry your dipping pelt. Birds chirp from unseen places and the wold overall shows no signs of the angry rain that was pouring down not too long ago. You find that you appreciate the change of pace.

Foxes behind you pass the third checkpoint and move on sluggishly. You turn your head to stop looking at them to find that lush foliage has suddenly surrounded you. Petals fall in your path from trees in full bloom, bushes are laden with ripe berries, and deer casually stroll nearby without fear. Warm sunbeams slip through the branches, making the area seem more alight with color than it already is. You can hear a babbling brook somewhere and...something else? You didn't notice it at first, but now that you're paying attention, you can hear what sounds like claws tearing at...things. A stray cloud crosses the sky, making the area go dark. The glade goes deathly quiet excepting the scratching noise which is now accompanied by raspy breathing that you're almost sure are growls. Suddenly, a bush very close to you quakes, causing you to jump away. The foliage continues to shake and the noises grow progressively louder.

Will you...
Close your eyes and snap your jaws at whatever's in the bushes? []
Throw your dagger into the bushes to kill whatever's there? []
Or investigate? [x]

As the trail drags on, it's not too much of a pain. The travel is quite enjoyable with all the nature and its wildlife. He can't help but pause a second to gaze at the fearless deer and wish he could be that fearless. Soon enough, he remembers he's on a path and needs to move forward. Moving on, the scenery starts to become ominous as he hears a rustling in the bushes. Braylon knows he isn't a killer, so blindly snapping at the creature in the bushes was out of the question. He decides to investigate [x] what is growling in the bushes. He carefully paws his way over to the bush and mumbles, "Hello?.."

You got 15 gems for completing the last checkpoint!

Side Trail 2 Continued --

Carefully, you approached the shaking bush and poked your nose between the leaves. Before you could try to see or smell what was there, you found something licking your nose! Squinting into the foliage, you can see what looks like a little rabbit with...wings on its sides...? When you back up, it happily leaps from its hiding place and sits on your front paws, looking up at you with big, sparkling eyes.

You gained an unknown pet!

After a while of affectionately hopping around you, it becomes clear that this animal doesn't want to leave. So, you figure you should probably get a move on. You finish your stroll through the glen, finding an actual path after a few minutes. It seems you've made a u-turn somewhere, as you're pretty sure you can see the main road way, way down there. You've somehow avoided crossing the river, er, one part of it. There's a fork in the water and, judging by the trails, it's in the way of the next checkpoint. You'll have to cross that bridge when you get there (if there is one). The lush trees fall away, leaving you out in the open once again. Looks like you'll be walking in the sun for a while. A ways up ahead, you can see a part in the tall grass that connects to another winding trail, but for heaven's sake, you've already taken so many twists and turns, you're not sure you'd have the energy to go that way and still make it to the next camp!

Looks like you'll have to...
Go down the new path []
Continue on to the main road [x]

When the rabbit with wings jumped out and towards Braylon, he was confused to say the least. The small creature was odd; never in his life has Braylon seen a rabbit with wings. Could it fly or glide? He had no idea, but it seemed like he would eventually find out since the rabbit refused to leave his side, not that he wanted it to leave. He hadn't gained a pet, but instead, a friend. As Braylon and the fuzz ball continue down their path, the fork is seen. Braylon studies both ways, and after the exhausting first side trails decides to continue on the main path again. He figures he has wasted enough to me and should try to follow the main trail for a while. They journey onwards on the main path, carefully studying their surroundings and just enjoying each other's company as well as any scenery they've got.

You got 16 gems for completing the last checkpoint!
My instructions say this bit can get you up to four custom scars, but I'm not fully sure what I'm supposed to do about that yet, so you'll have to pardon orz

Checkpoint 4 --

You continued on to the next point in peace for quite some time. The wind swished along the tips of the grass and now puffy white clouds floated lazily overhead. As you neared the river, you found yourself in a forest again, but the trees were spaced much farther apart this time. Large patches of sunshine filter through the leaves and the calls and mumbles of wildlife are all around you. With the sound of running water growing progressively louder, you began to wonder how you were going to cross here. Luckily, you didn't have to think too awful long about it. A huge tree seems to have fallen, forming what looks to be quite a sturdy bridge over the river. Besides the water, the area seems to have gone oddly quiet, but that thought is in the back of your mind as you hop onto the log.

The bark's a bit slick, causing you to slow you pace as you cross. As you reach the half-way point of the bridge, you start to get a funny feeling. Where did all those animals go? Even the gentle breeze seems to have hushed itself. A bit of nervousness pricking at you, you cast a glance around to see if anything's wrong. Something catches your attention that you didn't notice before: two small stones poking above the rushing river have icy blue eyes embedded them...and they're staring right at you. As soon as you spot it, the beast opens its long, thin maw and lets out a sharp hiss. You can't help but notice the sun glint off its many rows of pearly teeth. The flat alligator-like creature leaps up from where it was lying and lunges, jaws snapping, at you!

Will you
Defend yourself with your dagger? []
Try to fight? []
- Injuries will be gained
Or rUN? [x] - Injuries will be gained

All was calm as Braylon walked with his newfound companion, until he realized the eerie silence. Although he enjoyed silence as much as anyone, there was something unsettling about this particular silence. Braylon's companion was showing signs of fear, but he knew they couldn't stop. It was only once they got half-way through the bridge that trouble started making its way in. When Braylon first saw the icy, cold eyes he brushes them off as water droplets. When he heard the hiss, he just assumed it was some water snake and avoided the water. That was until he saw the teeth. Braylon had no idea what kind of creature this could be, but he realized it wasn't good news. When the jaws snapped towards Braylon and he saw the beast running his way, he reacted the only way he knew how to; [x] running. Fighting wasn't his way. He scooped up his rabbit pal and ran as fast as he could, unfortunately the beast could also run fast. He kept running, starting to slow down a bit. It's fair to say he wasn't expecting a chase and simply wasn't in shape for this. The beast snapped it's death jaws again, getting Braylon's back leg before loosing its grip. Braylon ran through the pain, refusing to quit until the beast was far away. By the time the beast gave up, Braylon found himself farther down the main trail and found two cuts on his back leg that he knew would scar later.
