What are Novibats?
Novibats are a unique species of bats that can take up residence anywhere their heart desires...Novibats are bequeathed with special "star-stones" that operate as magical transforming agents. Once they come of age, their star stone changes color (the little diamond in the center) and they undergo a permanent metamorphosis which results in their designation to a specific biome. Once metamorphosed, it is incredibly difficult to leave and often results in death because the Novibat is not suited to other climates. Novibats can then remove their star stones, as it loses most magical properties it held and becomes a memento for the Novibat. However, they usually keep them around their necks as it is something they keep with them all their lives as physical memories of their homeland and the Star-Stones serve as a form of name tag.
