Finnara is not the most talkative viscet, as she prefers to
be around seagulls more than other viscets. Finnara doesn't
like social events very much. She doesn't smile much, at
least not in front of others. Her closest friend is a seagull
named Albert. Albert can get a little out of hand at times,
as he has a crazy obsession with any food he can get his
hands on, and it commonly gets Finnara into a bit of a bad
situation. Finnara doesn't like to be noticed. Albert, on the
other hand, does. Though it seems like Albert and Finnara
are completly opposites, they share a strong bond. Finnara
isn't shy, she just doesn't like other viscets very much. Her
mate, Darcy, is pretty much the only other of her kind she
gets along with. Finnara is a very complicated viscet, and
not everyone understands her. This is why she turns away
from her own kind. Finnara's positive traits, however, usually
over take her negatives. When Finnara is alone or with Albert
at the beach, she feels alive. The light mist sprays her face
and the smell of the sea floods her nose. The comfort of the
ocean allows her to feel like everything is okay. Finnara doesn't
worry when she's by the ocean, she is carefree. Her playful side
eventually shows, and she loves to chase Albert around claiming
she's going to eat him,but of course, she would never eat her
good friend, Albert.
❝Finnara isn't very social. She doesn't like other viscets,
xx as she thinks viscets aren't very docile towards her. Finnara
xx actually is very sensitive, and her feelings are easily hurt.
xx she just does her very best to hide it, therefore she appears
emotionless in front of most others, mainly viscets. Her
feelings are commonly hurt by other viscets, causing her disliking to her own kind.

One morning, by the shore laid a very tired viscet named Finnara. Finnara hadn't eaten for days, and she was struggling to find fresh food or water. Finnara had been moping around this beach all week, in search of vital materials. She camped out in a weathered hole inside of a hill of rock-hard sand. The fastest way to get food for Finnara was to look in a trash can- but the nearest one was nearly two hours away.
--
Finnara summoned all her strength, and paced around the beach in search of food.
What am I left to do? I'm dead. It will take a miracle to save me now. The poor viscet thought as she stared into the distance. She saw a very large swarm of seagulls. they were all fighting over something-
perhaps food... Finnara thought. Just then she saw a very small seagull get knocked into the ocean by a larger one trying to get the food. Finnara immediately raced to the waves and hopped in. Her heart pumped so fast as she paddled her hardest.
--
Then she spotted the tiny, weak seagull, helplessly drowning. Finnara splashed underwater and carefully grabbed the drowning bird. She pulled herself to the surface and fought the rough waves to get to shore. She placed the poor seagull onto the sand and sat by it. Finnara backed away to give him some air. Then, the tiny bird coughed. He was alive. He slowly stumbled over to Finnara and began to speak. "Thank you for saving my life" He croaked. "I am Albert. To return the favor, I pledge to be your lifelong assistant!" Finnara was puzzled at the sight of this puny little thing offering her help.
He can't do anything. her morale told her, but she resisted telling him. "Um... I am alright. I helped you because it was the right thing to do. Not for you to help me back." She slowly told Albert as he tilted his head.
--
"I have to help you." Albert stated. "It's a seagull thing. We must return the favor." Finnara made a face. "OKAY, you can stay with me. But do you know any place where we can find food?" Finnara asked.
Of course he's going to say no. She muttered to herself. "Actually, I do." Albert stated as he grinned. "How can I get there?" Finnara was shocked as the words came out of her mouth. "Are you lying to me?" "No. I actually know a place to find food. Only I know about it. It's a tiny Island about 30 minutes away. Only flying animals can get there. That is why you need me." Finnara looked into Albert's eyes. She felt something that she had never felt before- trust.
--
Finnara took in a deep breath. "I trust you." She whispered. "But what if the other seagulls see you carrying food? Won't they push you into the water again?" she added. Albert had an idea. "You could tell them we can bring enough for all of them. There are so many trash cans on that island! This could help all the seagulls in the area!" "Great idea!" Finnara said excitedly. "Come to my den. I have only enough food for tonight. This better work." Albert quickly waddled into Finnara's den. He saw a worn out plastic bag with half a slice of old bread in it. "So, that's dinner?" He asked. "Yes. It's all I have left." She slowly replied as she looked at the bread. She wondered if Albert wanted to leave now. Maybe he wanted food for himself. Just as these thoughts popped into her head, Albert started speaking. "I don't need it. You can have it all. I just want you to have food." Finnara let out a tear. Never before had someone said something like that to her. She picked up the bread and started eating. Just before she finished, she tossed her last piece to Albert. "Also, I'm Finnara. I thought I may as well tell you my name." Albert looked at her the same way she looked at him when he let her eat all the bread. "No one has ever cared so much about me. Thank you for being my friend" Albert whispered gratefully.
--
The next morning, at the break of dawn, Albert looked off into the horizon. "Okay, Finnara, I'm ready to go." He exclaimed as he was jumping around excitedly. Finnara walked out of her den with something in her jaws. she walked up to Albert and sat down next to him. "Albert, you've been a great friend for the past day. I want you to have this." She carefully let the sailor hat out of her jaws, and onto Albert's head. "It's for good luck." Albert looked up at her and smiled. "You really mean it?" He slowly said as a smile wiped across his face. "We've only known eachother for a day! It's crazy. Crazy but amazing." Finnara replied. "Now go and help our seagull friends." Albert waddled off onto a high rock and stretched out his wings, but just before he could take off, he flew over to Finnara. "Thank you." he whispered into her ear. "Thank you for believing in me." Then, he got back onto the high rock, stretched out his wings, and took off.
--
Albert flapped super hard. This morning the wind was unusually strong, and the sky was dark. It looked like a storm was about to happen- but Finnara and Albert ignored the weather. As Albert flew off to the island, Finnara managed to get all the seagulls' attentions. She explained to them her plan to feed her, Albert, and all the seagulls. The seagulls all loved the plan. Just as Finnara had finished talking, she realized the storm was getting darker- and closer. After watching the storm for a few more minutes she noticed that this wasn't just any storm- but the horrifying truth was clear- it was a waterspout- and Albert was in it's way.
--
Finnara started to panic, but she knew she had to stay calm. "Seagulls! Listen to me, you have to get inside of my den! NOW!" She frantically called to the large swarm of seagulls. Immediately they landed and hurried into her den. When all the seagulls were safe inside of her den, she helplessly looked at the growing storm.
What's going to happen to Albert? is all that swelled in her mind. She finally retreated into her den, where everyone was safe.
--
Albert made it to the little island. There was a small fishing shack run by an old lady and her son. Albert was aware of the big storm and tried to find shelter. Time quickly went by as he searched for somewhere to hide. The waves splashed intensely. The storm was just a few miles away now, and just before Albert was taken away by the wind, the old lady's son grabbed him and took him into his basement in the fishing shack. "Look mom, I found a seagull. He has a hat on, he must belong to somebody!" Albert let out a little squawk before falling asleep in the man's arms.
--
It was dawn when Albert woke up. He woke up to the old woman talking to him. He was in a box. Next to him was a herring. He slowly nibbled at it, when he had a thought:
all the trash cans were destroyed in the storm! What will we do? WAIT. This old woman gives me food! Maybe I can stop by here everyday for food! He finished the herring with one last gulp and looked outside. The sky was gray. It was raining.
Oh no! Where's Finnara? he thought as his eyes began to water. Quickly, he flew out of the box. "He can fly!" The old woman shouted with excitement. carefully she took him back into her arms. "Do you know where your owner is?" She asked. Albert nodded and squawked. "Come visit me for food whenever you want. Now go! Find your owner!" Albert took in a deep breath, and took off. He had to find Finnara.
--
Albert flapped like he had never before! His heart beated like a drum. He was not going to stop until he found Finnara. Finally, he saw the main land. He quickly swooped down. "FINNARA! He yelled at the top of his lungs. "Finnara! I'm here!" He added. The rain pelted Finnara, it was almost as hard as hail. Finnara lay just outside of her den. She was crying. Albert saw her and screamed with joy, "FINARRA! It's YOU!" Finnara looked up. "Albert? Is that you?" She raced towards the tiny seagull and grabbed him with her paws. Then she held him close to her and began to cry even more. "I thought I lost you." She sobbed. All the other seagulls emerged from the den. They came over to Albert and welcomed him back. "I thought I would never see you again..." Finnara paused. "But you survived. That's what matters." Albert opened his bill to speak. "I'm just glad we're together now." He added.
--
Well, it turns out everything was okay. Through the years, the seagulls never starved, and the old lady grew very fond of the seagulls visiting her fishing shack. Finnara and Albert remained good friends. Then Finnara met Darcy, and a few more floods and storms hit, but no matter what happened, Finnara and Albert were two of a kind. Inseparable. Family.
