Character Story Event: Many fortnights ago, a bright tawny male known as Kentro was skulking around a savanna pool. Hunger tore at his gut, forcing him to embark on the dangerous task. Crocodiles are a very real and very dangerous threat when they're not seen. His large pawpads sank slightly and silently in the wet dirt by the water's edge. His body was kept low to the ground, keeping him out of direct line of sight. A fair sized Springbok nibbled at the cool water, completely relaxed and fully unaware of the looming doom. Kentro's sights were set - he padded closer, belly brushing against the soggy mud. Cool water lapped at his underfur, which is normally much too close to the dangerous water, but he was too focused on getting a meal.
The Springbok suddenly lifted its head, ears perked and face pointed towards the water. Kentro took the opportunity and became slightly messy in his hunt - his paws dipped in the water, sending ripples outward in the pool. The Springbok seemed to not notice, still directly focused on the middle of the watering hole.
The water exploded in a fit of activity. The Springbok turned on a dime and bolted away. Kentro spun his head around a moment too late - a crocodile had burst from the pool, jaws agape and heading straight for him. He attempted to react but the crocodile had already clamped down on his rear right leg. A mighty pained roar bellowed from his throat. He swiped at the crocodile, catching its eye with his large raptor claw. The prehistoric beast reeled back, releasing Kentro's leg from its powerful maw and slithering back into the deep end of the watering hole.
Kentro's physical injuries were minor, being mostly scrapes and puncture wounds that would heal with time, but a fear of water had been instilled in him. Now he refuses to go near watering holes and insists on only drinking from puddles too small to conceal a predator.
