Prologue
Her nostrils flared as she tread down the ramp. I can only imagine what she has been through. She scanned the humans in front of her before her eyes settled on me. My heart lurched out to her as I watched her being pulled past me and towards the holding stalls where she will wait for her fate.

Paragraph 1
I yawned; the sun had just started to rise but the birds were still asleep. Stiffly, I rose up rubbing my eyes. I usually get up later but today is special. Today was the annual opening of the Spring fling Auctions. I must leave soon, the best horses are usually sold early. Smiling, I walk down the stairs and into my kitchen. Shiloh and Button leapt at me excitedly as they greeted me like every other morning. I give them both a quick scratch before starting to make my breakfast. Scrambled eggs and bacon. My all time favourite.

Paragraph 2
The truck’s engine revved as I started it up. Shiloh panted in the back seat, observing her owner’s actions. I pulled the gears into reverse and left the muddy tracks behind. Putting the gears into drive, I drove on the road towards the Auctions.

Paragraph 3
I shoved my hands in my pockets and bit my lip as I gazed over countless heads in front of me. My eyes finally settling on a young palomino tovero who was being led around the bidding ring. I slowly made my way to the front of the crowd so I could get a good view. A leapt on the wooden pen to observe the gelding. I was tempted but iIdidn’t bid. I needed the money for a special foal I saw before.

Paragraph 4
Hours pass and the foal hasn’t shown up. I stare at my watch for a few seconds before actually reading it. 1:28pm. I sighed and decided I couldn’t stay for much longer. Shiloh had been taken to my Mother’s place for the night because Button had a vet appointment and couldn’t be active for the next couple of days. I heard gasps from some of the crowd near the entry point of the horses. I crane my neck, attempting to catch a glimpse of what everyone was crooning at. But then I saw her. That young filly who had caught my eye. Her short, cropped mane and tail made me gulp. It was all for fashion. The starting bid was $600 but as I was about to bid, someone else shouted out first. I opened my mouth for another go but was soon cut off by several people. I realised I would need to wait until the bidding and shouting died down before I made my winning bid. “$2200 dollars!” I almost scream, shoving my hand high up. “Going once, going twice... And sold! To the woman in the jodhpurs.” I blush as I glance down at my mud-caked jodhpurs. A bit ashamed, but proud at the same time. I felt many eyes burning my back as I leapt off the railing to go and claim my prize. The soon to be, newest addition to my stable.

Paragraph 5
I Watched the truck pull into my driveway. The echoing squeals of the filly were bone-chilling. I felt bad but I knew it was for the best. Her wild eyes flickered around as two of my grooms half dragged her out of the trailer. The two grooms pulled the young foal into the barn and into a holding stall I had already prepared for her. I followed them and listened to the cries of the foal who had gone through so much already. With the flick of my head, the groom's left. I leant on the stall door, watching the filly. Her eyes showing fear until they met mine. She started to calm as I stayed longer. She finally gained the courage to come closer to me. She reminds me of a puppy who just fell over. Her eyes were soft and her movements were relaxed. “What am I going to do with you my little darling?” I asked rhetorically. I got a sarcastic snort in return as if saying ‘Whatever you bought me for’. “I should name you now shouldn’t I? How about…” I paused, deep in thought, “Ah! How’s Adiba? Diva for short. My little well-polished babe eh?” The now named foal let out a gentle whinny of approval. “That settles it, Adiba it is.” I beamed, leaning forward to stroke Adiba’s neck. She leant into my hand lovingly, our friendship started there...

Expand on her personality:
Adiba is a little diva. Every stallion falls for her flirty tricks and sassy ways as she often struts down the barn's path like it was a red-carpet. She can be over-protective of the ones she loves like her brother. But she knew on the day she was separated from her brother that it was for the best. But it didn't help him crying and squealing in the process. Adiba has learned to cope with scared and pained cries of others. She is a good leader and often helps anyone out, trying to show them that life isn't bad. But Sometimes Adiba can be too bossy and controlling, pushing away ones that have gotten really close to her. She finds it near impossible to apologise because she reckons it makes her weak. 'I may as well be grinding my face into the ground with submission'. She often stands her ground in an argument and shows her opponent who is the boss but when the opponent is her friend, after the fight, Adiba gallops to the fence line under the shelter of weeping willows to cry. She feels the pain others feel, unless they deserve no mercy from her. Adiba has a quick changing personality as i described before. One moment she can be like a cuddly kitten and then the next, she is a snappy, sassy broodmare. But in the end, she means no harm.

I was being attached to a lead! My eyes went big in fear and in shock. I knew i couldn't leave my little brother! I just tried to act calm. I heard Peter yipping and bucking. But i just tried to stay forward. I stopped moving. The human was tugging on my lead half choking me. "Dont these people know how to treat a foal!?" I thought in my head. I took a few steps shaking myself. I just kept walking when i heard my brother whin. I stopped again. This time the human walked over and whipped me! I yelped in pain and kept walking. When i got to the stable i kinda just took it easy. Walking slower but nope! These people had things to do! She whipped me again so a walked faster into the stall and hid in the corner just wanting to get a good night sleep.

Ray is very protective. I mean very. She will do everything to protect the people she loves. She can be quite honorable too. She can be really fun if you get to know her and will do anything to watch a sunset.
