Name:
Avet choosed the name Pieris for this little beauty.
Name Meaning:
"pieris" is actually the name for a genus of butterflies commonly known as the "garden whites",with the most well-known member beeing the cabbage garden white
Avet choosed this name for her, mainly because she was curled up like a helpless little caterpillar when he first saw her after hatching, and unfolded into a fragile,pale,white-ish little beauty once she managed to get on her paws.It was just an experience of a few seconds, but i really left an imprint on avet´s mind. Also,he deeply wished for her to grow into a free, unworried and adventurous life after her troubeled start, like that of a butterfly after its hard time as a catterpillar.
He later stated to her that she was always free to change her name if she would like to,for its kinda unfair to name someone without giving them the right to bring their own likings into it,but she gladly kept the name her father gave to her,not only because she deeply appreciated the kind thoughts behind it,but also because butterflies surprisingly became her most favorite animal.
Gender:
Pieris was born a vixen, and always indentified herself as such. She also rather likes her gender, despite her adventurous and rowdy personality there is a whole lot of your average "girly girl" inside her,ya know-the one with the weak spot for cheesy lovestories, funny rumors and pretty accesoires, especially if they include either flowers, glittering gems or the color pink.
Adoptive Parent: Avet
Personality:
[size=200]To summ it up,Pieris really resembles the tiny animal that serves as her namesake: carefree, upbeat and flighty, this little fox just "flutters" through life, always in search for the next adventure-and for her, adventure is everywhere. She is gifted with an extremely vivid, colorfull imagination that makes her see the world a little differend than your average fox would: the most common shrubbery is actually an enchanted forrest, and the tiny lizard that sunbathes on the rock over there is clearly twenty feet tall, breathes fire and has just captured the most charming foxprince in the world so she,the fearless princess, has to come to his rescue.oh,and of course that´s not a poorly crafted bead of flowers, thats the holy crown of the spirits, gifted to her by the spirit queen to aid her on her quest.
you see, pieris can have fun everywhere, and she´s often so deeply sunken into her imaginary heroic deeds that she completely misses that she´s covered in scratches from the thorns or has just wandered away a bit too far, finding herself completely lost. yes, there are definetely some disadvantages of beeing a famous inhabitant of cloudcocooland, little pieris for example often forgets things or just gets carried away from whatever she actually had to do,and she tends to dream away from the more important-but sadly equally more boring-lessons she has to learn if she wants to survive in the wild. But luckily, she is almost as good at listening as at telling fantasy stories, and if you manage to explain things lively and in a funny, relatable way,you have found a student who inhales new knowledge like a dry sponge sucks up water-while she excells at things that catch her interest, she often fails to learn or remember things wich can´t hold her curiousity. There is also one thing about pieris that heavily contrasts with her namesake, the elegant and timid butterfly: the little kit is surprisingly present physically, not only because she tends to be clumsy enough to trip over her own left paw three times in a row,but also because she is a huge rowdy who loves to jump and roll around, pick playfights with other creatures or just abuses you as a climbing frame. She also loves to cuddle and will use every occassion to burry herself in avet´s fur or wrap his tail around her, simply because she deeply fears beeing alone, and the touch of thoose she loves make her feel save-as long as she is with someone she feels loved by,she is fearless, almost stupidly brave, but on her own,all the fears and doubts she normally easily locks away in the last imaginary wardrobe of her mind break free and turn the energetic and wild kit into a timid, insecure little fluffball. She has highly competetive, daring side and will never refuse a challenge, you can always get her with that old stupid "oooh, are you scared to do *insert idiotic dare here* ? i smell a chiiicken!"-trick ,the more often you tell her she is unable to do something, the bigger will her determination to prove you wrong grow. While she has a warm heart and a highly altruistic, selfless streak, she is "gifted" with a short temper and a muzzle that speaks faster than her brain can think.well,to be honest-most of her body parts seem to be faster than her brain in general, because while she is definetely not stupid, she is easily provoced, mostly acts before she thought about it and is rather easy to manipulate or trick-she is a highly creative, innovatie thinker who comes up with surprisingly clever yet unconventional ideas, but she definetely lacks streetsmarts and is way too trusting, always seeing the best in others. Pieris is cheeky, helpfull and simple-minded,finding fun in even the smallest things in life, and when she does something, she does it with all her heart-she might often fail due to her clumsyness and daydreamy behavior as well as her slighly complicated way of thinking, but she will always give her best and try as often as it is neccesary. She is extremely bubbly, easily to amuse and is mostly seen joking around or laughing, and she has a bit of trouble to stay serious, but she never means harm to anyone. The little pale fox dreams of adding something to the world that will survive her lifespan for years, she´s just the "im gonna change the world for better"-kind of canine.
-some random facts-
-Pieris has a rather loud, powerfull voice and tends to speak a little bit too loud without realizing it.
-While her wild imagination grands her the most epic of adventures,it also haunts her with the most horrible nightmares, she is the kind if child that sees monsters in the dark corners of the den, glowing eyes in the night and spooky ghosts in her dreams.in fact, the darkness scares her in general, and while she gives her best, she will probalby never manage to sleep in her own nest during her whole kithood, there will be some point every night when she just HAS to tumble over to avet´s place and cuddle onto him.
-beside this, she has an extremely high self esteem, probably because avet raised her in the knowledge that she could do anything she dreamed of ,always having his full support.he lets her know that he will stick to her and be proud of her no matter what, and because of this, she deeply admires him, always wishing to impress him.
-she has a huge fascination with all the little crawlers she finds lurking around the woods: insects,snails,centipedes,spiders...all the many-legged tiny animals totally fascinate her and also trigger her protection instinct.she´s sort of a hobby entomologist, always ready to observe and study the little critters-one time, she literally spend two whole days just watching the building of a new ant colony, and for someone who normally has an attention span of ten minutes, thats quite the archievement.she has a big, messy collection of papers on wich she draws every new critter she finds, adding its name and everything she finds out about their behavior.when avet does not know how a certain insect is called, she just names them herself (and often chooses names like "gilbert the spotted" or "hamilton the hairy" .)
-she loves to play "hide and seek", but will always insist to be the seeker, because she is secretly scared of never beeing found
-she has surprisingly high standarts set for herself, and is absolutely honest. wich is actually rather good for her, because she is the lousiest liar you´ll ever find.and while she is normally as easy to forgive and forget as she is angered, she is seriously offended if you lie to her.
-"hamilton the hairy" was a plate-sited golden tarantula she befriended most to avet´s dismay.
-everyone will confuse her and avet for sibblings, and when she grows older for mother and son, while they are actually father and daughter.
Extras:
Dark red eyes stare in horrified disblieve at the scenery as avet sighted deeply, still unable to accept that he was too late, that there was nothing left he could do: the rockfall had enterily destroyed the small loner´s camp. He had sensed the two foxes yesterday, but had decided to stay away from them,he had been in one of his solitary phases...but in the second he noticed the unstable cliffs,he headed towards the place where they planned to stay the night, praying that his short legs and tiny paws would carry him fast enough. And now it is to late, and all he can do is staring at the destroyed camp, nests and foxes burried under tons of stone. A sudden sadness hits him with unexpected force, and the pale fox with the face of a kit lowers his head for a minute, eyes closed.as he is about to continue his everlasting journey,a slight movement causes him to let out a sharp gasp: it cant be true,but...there it is, clearly a black paw, shivering ,reaching up in the clear attempt to touch his own ,tiny paw. in a second,he layes on the ground, starting to shove the debris away, ignoring the sharp edges cutting and scraping his paws untill the rubble falls down ,covering him in a cloud of dust. avet blinks before he stares into the suddely formed hole-its not bigger than his head, but he can clearly see the gaze of a golden eye shining through the darkness. " can you hear me? are you alright?"
A weak coughing is his answer, followed by a voice that is so raspy,so weak and unbelievably tired that it sends a cold shiver down the albino´s spine "h...help m.promise to...help." avet nodds in determination, continuing to try to shove the rocks away, but now,the burried vixen´s cold paw reachs him, making him stop "not...likethis.promisetohelpme..." "i-i promise,i´ll do anything i can, dont you worry!" avet says in a calming voice, taking the black paw in his own, slowly stroking it. "doyou...do you swear on your life?" avet is stunned for a moment-he has no idea what her words mean, but he can easily sense that it means everything to the moribund stranger, and before he even understands what he´s doing, the words are out of his muzzle: "i swear on my life."
The sight that echoes from the hole is so eased, and avet realizes that she´s crying in relieve without any sound.he hears a strange rumbling from under the stonepile, and slowly,so slowly, something is handed out to the bleach merle fox, something that turns out to be a bag of thick black leather, covered in dust and a bit scratched, but apparently unharmed. "you swore...you swore to keep my treasure, guarding it at any cost.bringing it to the land of rockhollow clan.you swore it..."her voice suddenly ecomes quiet, but avet holds the big black paw until it feels as cold as ice. saddened by the unneccesary death of the young vixen,he feels no remorse for his oath, and he is determined to grant the stranger her last favor, especially since it seemed to mean so much to her-even though it means that he has to travel almost to the other side of the known lands, for the place he just was sent to is far,far away.it will be a journey of many months, but well, there´s nothing he can do about it.he picks up the bag and heads towards his current home,a small den under a large birch tree. here,he is unable to controll his curiousity any longer: carefully,he opens the black bag and risks a look inside. avet gasps and tumbles a step backwards, his eyes even bigger than normally, before he finally starts to sob as he realizes that it was not just a small group of loners who lost their life today: it was a family. carefully,he pulls the big egg out of the bag, wrappping himself around the pearl-ish shimmering oval. as the night rises, the woodland creatures can hear a high, melodic voice slowly singing nursery rhymes through the darkness.
Three weeks later...
The snow falls without a sound, covering the world in a soft, flawless blanket of white. Avet looks down on the fox beneath him-its so small, even smaller than him,and the young looking elder´s eyes start to shimmer in the warmest glow as he carefully reaches down and nuzzles the kit between the ears. the todd shivers ,overwhelmed by thankfullness -the quick promise he made on a sad day was rewarded by the greatest gift he could ever think of: yes, there will be the day when he has to give the young vixen back to the clan her mother might have belonged to.the life as a hermit is not the right thing for a young fox anyway.but until then...she is here at his side, his pride and joy, someone to love and to be loved by and his reason to life for-he,who would never dare to hope for a family of his own had been gifted by fate with the most beautiful daughter a fox can think of.
Tell it to the butterflies...
-small extra one-shot-
"Nooooooooo,go away,go away naaaaaooooo!" Avet jumps up into the air with all four paws as the scream rolls though the den and rips him of his sleep. the albino lands ruggedly on his butt, his fur puffed up as he locates the source of this unsettling noise. with a deep sight,he trots over to his daughters nest,in wich a light colored bundle of fur tosses and turns around, four tiny paws scratching and punching the air. gently,he lays himself down beside her and nudges her cheek, awaking her from her nightmare. Pieris opens his eyes and stares at him ,needing a few heartbeats beofre she realizes where she is. she throws herself in avet´s paws, sobbing and hiding her face in his fluffy chestfur. "pa, it was so awful, there was this bearded fat ghost and he wated to pull my ears untill i look like a bunny, and i could not do anything against it! please, are my ears normal?!" she pleadingly looks up to him,and he smiles warmly and grabs one of her tiny, fluffy ears, pulling it down so she can take a look "normal as they can be darling,i promise ." he murmurs and licks her tears away and wraps his tail araound your shoulders. "it was just a silly old nightmare, you´re having a lot of theese lately, huh?" she nodds ,looking down at her paws in awkwardness "yeah...and they just wont leave me alone, just now when i was so sure i could sleep in my own nest tonight..." she wrinkles her tiny forehead in anger, letting out a deep huff. avet laughts compassionately and prods her shoulder. "well, all honor to your determination...but let me confess that I actually really appreciate it not to sleep alone tonight, its rather cold and you´re the best hot-water bottle i´ve ever had!" pieris blinks the last tears away and looks up to her adoptive father, happy for the opportunity to spend the night in his nest without letting him know that she is too scared to sleep on her own "really? uuuhm..weeeeell i guess i would make an exception tonight, just for you and your freezing old bones!" she squeaks, and as fast as a fluffy lightning, she has cuddeled herself into the soft moss of avets nest. Her father grins inwardly and walks over to the corner where he stores all the things he collects on his walks though the wood. when he lets himself fall into his nest,he holds a big jar in his paws,a big jar filled with tiny white butterflies. "look darling,i wanted to tell you this age-old secret long ago...but thoose tiny flutterers are hard to catch, thats for sure!" pieris rolls over to him, staring at the fragile creatures in amazement "ooooh,pa,they are so adorable, and so tiny...please,can i hold them?" without waiting for an answer, she grabs the jar and presses her nose against it,softly purring at the insects "aaaaaw, what pretty little guys you are!" avet smiles and puffs his fur up to keep his daughter warm "well, you have to know...no other animal in the world flies as high as theese butterflies.they dont have a set name,because...because everyone has to name them differently. see,its an old magic trick my granny told me: you just have to name one of thoose little guys after your worst fear, and then set it free.in this moment, the haunting thought-or the spooky obese ghost-will be bound to the butterfly, and when it flies into the sky,it will take the fear with it. its a thing all the ghost and monsters try to keep a secret, but you have to know that they are all terribly afraid of heights.and because of this, they will have to cling to the butterflie´s back forever, they are waaaaay to cowardly to return to the ground, they already get dizzy from even looking down...so we grounddwellers are free of them. i tried it myself a thousand times, and i swear,it works always-but you know, you are better with the tiny critters than me,so i want to pass my magic jar down to you, maybe you know some nasty ghosts that deserve to be trapped in the air forever..." pieris gasps in amazement as she presses the jar to her chest "oooooh, thank you so much pa,i SWEAR i will take good care of them, and i will never tell their secret to anybody,im so ready to be the next butterfly keeper!" she squeals, her tiny tail wagging in excitement. avet proudly nodds, storking his daughter´s head with his paw "well,i have expected nothin lesser from you." a few minutes later,a two-sized snoring echoes trough the den as the two pale foxes sleep cuddeled together.
When avet returns from hunting the next evening,he finds his daughter peacefully sleeping in her own nest, holding a half-empty jar of butterflies in her paws.

Name: Sequoia
Name Meaning: named after the huge, red trees called Sequoia, where she was found.
Gender: vixen.
Adoptive Parent: Ceferino
Personality:
Knowing Ceferino all her short life, it would be difficult not to take after any of her father's qualities and so, like the saying goes, like father like son, {or father like daughter in this case}, they have some similarities.
For example, like Ceff {and also partly how he found her}, Sequoia is a collector. Well, a more accurate title would be hoarder. She keeps everything and anything, for a variety of reasons; her main excuse is 'but what if I need it' but sometimes it's hard to believe when you find old, rotting flowers and bone shards lying around. At first, Ceferino was pleased that his little girl was following in his pawsteps but once she began pestering him to carry things in his bag or filled every den they lived in with useless junk, his joy turned to annoyance and many a time Sequoia's hoarding was a cause of arguments.
In contrast, however, to Ceferino's quick-footed grace, Sequoia is clumsy and seems to always be coming back to her father with various cuts and bruises. Neither of the duo know how, but she always seems to get into trouble, from annoying a predator or dangerous prey, to just tripping over a root. It's rather unfortunate for Ceferino as he has to clean up her messes and watch her get hurt time and time again, but he's slowly getting used to it and is no longer surprised when she comes back with a scratch and an interesting story to tell.
But, again, like her father, she is very creative and loves making new things and thinking up ideas. Although, the way she uses her creativity is different to Ceferino, as instead of making accessories, Sequoia creates art pieces. They are usually quite abstract and each one is different from the next. Of course, she is limited to natural resources, but that doesn't stop her at all. Sequoia uses a variety of paints made from insect blood, berries and all sorts of materials and can even make a kind of glue from the right tree and plant saps. Her knowledge of the environment is vast, allowing her to take advantage of the chemicals found naturally around her.
How was she found?
Rain pattered softly through the thick, leafy canopy, occasional heavy drops splashing onto the ground below. It produced little muddy hollows in the ground and varying sizes of murky puddles, which were motionless apart from the periodic trickle that escaped the forest ceiling and caused small ripples on the surfaces. A pleasant musk of damp needles from assorted evergreens laced the air, strengthening when a sudden breeze picked up then fading when the air stilled. It was peaceful, for most creatures had sheltered away from the rain in trees, bushes or underground, leaving a strange calm over the woods.
There was one todd, however, that utilized the quiet, and who moved quickly and sure-footedly around the place, as if he knew every paw-step in the area which, in a round-about way, he did. Ceferino wasn't looking for anything in particular, perhaps a couple of the white flowers that bloomed around a particular stretch of roots, or maybe a nut uniquely carved by the tooth of a squirrel or mouse. It was a routine of sorts for him; come to the forest, forage for food and maybe return with a few unique spoils if he was lucky.
But what a special trophy he would find today...
As he darted from one tree to the next, green-eyed gaze scanning over every minute detail, Ceferino felt a little disappointed at the lack of flowers. It was spring, the grass should be thick and shoulder-high, there should be new blossoms blooming everywhere but instead the space was strangely empty. Sighing, he decided to leave the area and venture further into the woods, in search of at least a flower or two. The todd ambled on, the trees condensing and the canopy thickening but still, nothing.
Stopping for a brief rest between the enormous roots, Ceferino realized with a jolt that he had no clue where he was. The previous perfume of needles had disappeared and night was beginning to creep in. He would have to find a place to stay that night; he was too far away from his usual den to return. Behind him, he noticed a small gap in the huge trunk and, after a quick test with his whiskers, poked his way through. It was a tight, dark squeeze but it soon widened into a cosy space. And there, as if it had awaited his arrival, was a small egg just a little bigger than his paw. He was sure he would have sat on it if not for the stark white that patterned the otherwise reddish brown egg which stood out against the bark.
Ceferino uttered a small gasp, and a grin settled on his maw. No matter what this egg would turn into, he decided then and there that he would take it. Even better, if it didn't turn into anything, he could simply sit and admire it and add it to his growing collection of interesting souvenirs.
That night, the todd slept, long tail curled tightly around it. And Sequoia and Ceferino's hearts beated as one.

Name: Ame
Name Meaning: Rain in Japanese
Gender: Vixen
Adoptive Parent: Rain (Yes she named the baby after herself. XD)
Personality: Quite surprisingly, Ame's personality take more after her Aunt Amia than it does her mother. She is kind, wise and always willing to lend a helping paw. Somehow, Ame always seems to know more than the other children her age and craves knowledge to the point of near obsession. She is also quite humble, a trait her mother lacks in entirety but her aunt has in spades. One of the few traits she takes from Rain is the penchant to be over-dramatic about things. She tends to make a much larger deal out of something than is necessary and has been known to over-exaggerate to the point of sounding ridiculous. This bothers Rain quite a bit since she knows her child is very smart and wants the other wolves to take what she says seriously. However, the other wolves are usually quick to point out that this trait is likely Rain's own fault and she needs to take responsibility.
Despite her mother's personality, Ame and very close with Rain and loves being around her. She sees her mother in a different light from the other wolves and is quick to defend her when they make negative comments. Ame knows what Rain went through trying to raise a child on her own, with only Amia for help and a bunch of loners that offered no support what-so-ever. It wasn't until Rain and Ame found a pack that things begun to get better for the pair. They are happy now and feel comfortable as members of the Wolfmarsh pack. She doesn't see Aunt Amia as much anymore but is happy that she and her mother have found somewhere to call home.
Extras: (Rain's POV) I ran quickly through the forest, paws kicking up dust as I went. The ground was soft from a recent storm and I had lost my footing more than one. It didn't matter though, nothing did at the moment. I needed to find Amia and it had to be now. She was the only one who could help me. After racing through the forest for what felt like hours, I finally made it to the place where Amia made her den. She was sitting outside watching some birds in the trees overhead, obviously relaxed and contented. I suddenly felt a bit bad about disturbing her. It had to be done though and I wasn't about to let a few birds stop me. Walking slowly in order to catch my breath, I went over to Amia and prodded her with my paw. Startled, she looked at me, her expression morphing into a smile as she realized it was just me. "Hello Rain, you look exhausted. Is there something I can do for you?" she asked, licking my ears affectionately. I nodded quickly, trying to find the words to explain my situation. "Amia...egg...alone...forest...help..." is all I actually managed to get out. Somehow though, she understood me anyway. "Ah, so you found an egg abandoned in the forest. Why exactly do you need my help though? You are not exactly the type to care much about an egg, especially one that is not your own." she said, looking at me quizzically. I sighed and begun to explain in a way I hoped she'd understand. "Amia...I cannot leave that egg there. I know better than anyone what it feels like to be abandoned and grow up always wondering about your family. I...I know I am not the best wolf to raise an egg but...I think I'd like to try. Will you help me Amia?" I asked, trying to get my body to stop shaking. 'Would the egg be okay while I was here? I had made sure to put it in a safe place so it should be...right? Why did I care so much anyway? It was just an egg wasn't it? No...it was my egg now right? I'd as good as claimed it anyway. What if I was a bad mother though? What if it hated me? What if...' I was pulled from my troubling thoughts by sudden laughter from Amia. "Oh Rain, just look at you. You are not yourself at all right now. This egg must really be troubling you huh? The answer you are looking for is actually quite simple though. If you want the egg, then take it. Yes you may not be what some would consider the ideal mother but I know you Rain. I know you better than anyone does, perhaps even better than you know yourself. Are you worried about the egg? Do you want to make sure it is safe and loved? That it feels understood and wanted? If so, then I think you already have your answer Rain." she said, nuzzling my shoulder. I simply nodded in understanding. She was right of course, she was always right about stuff like this. "Thank you Amia, for everything. I have my answer now." I said, licking her muzzle lovingly and walking to the edge of the forest. "Once it hatches, I think I'll bring the little one to visit you. After all, I want my child to know their aunt." I called to her before darting back into the forest. I had made my decision, now I just had to see it through. I would be the best mother that egg could ever have, I'd make sure of it.
(Wow, longest story I have written in a while. Amia is also my DVF and a sister figure to Rain so I hope I managed to portray at least a little bit of that in my story. I usually only write in first person so I do apologize if this is harder to read. ^^,)
