personality: Taffy is one heck of a trouble maker. Handlers know to keep him away from other feisty boys in the barn or else they will cause chaos! He wrecks havoc when he's around mares and nips playfully. He is an excellent barrel horse, but outside of doing work he is as immature as can be. His barn is located blocks from a beachfront, and there are many stores that sell saltwater taffy, which is where he finally got his show name once he was old enough to compete. Despite causing trouble around the barn, when he is with younger children he is as perfect as can be. People were hesitant to give Taffy a job of giving rides on the beach, or letting disabled children around him, but he shows his caring compassion right away around little ones.

This has been a tough post to figure out how to properly write. There is a great sense of wanting to do full justice to a wonderful animal, pet, soul and teacher; however words often fall short. It is with great sadness that we said goodbye today to the sweet Tucker (aka Pirendello). His passing was unexpected and rapid (secondary to strangulating lipoma). But Tucker had a long and happy life here, and his career ran the gamut from Children's Hunter superstar to wise and careful schoolmaster. I would like to thank our barn manager Jackie Heller for recognizing the early signs of distress, thereby minimizing his discomfort; also to Paul Black for helping to provide immediate care for Tucker. Many thanks to Dr. Jim (Meyer) for initial care and assessment and to Dr. Lloyd Herron for continued care of Tucker. Our condolences go out to Lauren Liles (Tucker's first love) as well as everyone else whose life was touched by this sweet boy. If the value of a life was measured by the broken hearts left behind, then Tucker has indeed lived a great one. RIP buddy...I imagine that you are happily munching some Winter Rye in Heaven smile emoticon
