"Everyone has different stories about their winter. About how holidays are different or what they celebrate. But every winter isn't always so pleasant."

This section of the winter event will be a writing section. In order to win you need to write a tale about a winter/holiday experience your event wolf has been through that's from their past or led them up to receiving their invite. I'd like to see some original stuff. I'll start with an example by writing about my entry wolf Alrik.
The night he would never remember.
Dissimulodeerling. wrote:
Alrik, or as he was known at the time. Salvador stared over the burning woods surrounding him. His comrades laying still and breathless on the cold hard ice. Just a few hours ago the wolves had been fighting beside him... A battle he had sworn he would be content once they'd one. That they would all be able to return home and for the first time after winning a battle against alphas. Be free to be with their families. The single wolf walked between the many wolves he had shared the fondest of memories with and for the first time in what seemed like years, He started to cry. They were 'triumphant.' but Alrik, or, Salvador. Felt like his entire world had fallen apart. He won a battle he was fighting for his friends but now he had none. He had no family to go to. What was the point? Alrik laid down in a hole where the snow hadn't quite gotten to and shivered quietly closing his eyes. He could have sworn he heard a faded sorrowful tune in the distance. He closed his eyes. Never would he speak of nor remember this day as a triumph, but as a terrible, terrible loss. He swore by it before drifting into deep slumber. His oath would stay with him, he would never speak or remember of that day as a triumph.

I know I'm not the best writer, but this story happened in winter and is a big part of why Alrik is where he is. Even why he's attending the party.

FAQ-

Q-Is there a limit?- A- No, there is no word limit, but please try to make it easier to read and check word spellings and meanings, I won't judge on these, but the more forms with proper spellings and meanings to them, will make it much faster for me to read.

Q- What invitation?- A-The invitation on the main event thread for the first day.
You're Invited!
Please come to Laelia's Christmas party on December 5th!
The invitation is obviously sloppily written and it wasn't very descriptive. You decide to go anyways, what can be the harm? You arrive at the party, bearing no gifts. Nobody ever gives good presents anyway, so why should they get something in return? You deserve to get that nice spa treatment. You notice everyone else was too greedy to waste their money on gifts as well, and you can't help but notice the Grinch-like aurora in the air of the party. You begin to confer with some familiar faces, but you feel as if someone is watching you from afar. Shrugging it off, you notice a rather lovely snow globe with candy people, gathering around in a village. You then go back to conversing, but then you hear the whirling winds of a tundra and everything in sight has been shrouded a bright light. However, one question still remains unanswered: Who are you?

Q- if the whole event is a story, how does this come to play? A- This part of the event is a unique turn, I was thinking it could be a story from before your wolf/character got the invitation. What they might have been doing, what may have led them to accept it. Or a story from a Holiday in their past that didn't go so well. I've noticed also however, that a few wolves wanted to separate themselves from the group in the main event. While this will still be cannon to the main event I will have Nodell's and Snow's help judging. Especially if you guys to choose what happened to your rpw after they got separated from the group.

Q-What can I win doing this thing? A- that's my surprise. But I can say you'll all get something.

Q-can we go offsite?-A- pm me an example to be approved. I don't usually like websites because they are difficult for me to navigate.

Q-Can we add art or coding? A- You can add up to three pieces of art if you wish, but it's not necessary. Coding is also not necessary, but if it makes you feel good, go for it. Please refrain from using bright colors and purples. I have sensitive eyes.

Pm me with any other questions.

The invitations are on the main winter thread, because it is one big story, the stories here will be smaller stories either from a winter in your rpws (or OC's) past. Or what happened to them prior to them recieving their invitation on the main winter thread. Either way, the story has to surround the wolf or oc you chose for the event.

The cold came quickly that winter. It blew in like a stranger, and stayed like a memory. The pines in the forest bent their fronds under the weight of the snow, and rabbits shivered under their winter fur. It was said that winter was cold enough to freeze a beast of ice.

Dec 23
Lykos sat in a clearing, snow settling on his broad shoulders. He sighed softly, whisps of steam rising from his sharp toothed mouth. December had wrapped its arms around the forest, and most animals had found shelter in hollow trees or underneath porches. Not this rpw, however.

Lykos staid in the wood because it was the only place he could call home. He flicked his ear slightly. He could hear something in the distance. It sounded like... Sleigh bells? He shook his head. Surely no sane wolf would go into these woods just for a sleigh ride. He heard them again, louder than before, but this time, they were accompanied with singing.

"Vive le vent, vive le vent,
Vive le vent d'hiver,
Qui s'en va sifflant, soufflant
Dans les grands sapins verts, oh !"

Lykos shook his head. A bridge on the main road was down, as it had collapsed under the weight of the snow. If other wolves were in the forest, he would have to investigate, and make sure they did not get hurt in the wilderness. Lykos flicked his long tail, specks of his glowing blue paint scattering over the snow. He stood, and began trotting in the direction of the Christmas carol. As he approached he had a split second of doubt if he should try and interact with the other rpws. He could see the brightly painted sleigh, pulled by a team of paint wolves in harnesses.
"Hey there!" One of them called.
Knowing it was to late to turn back, Lykos padded over to the wolves.
"Hey." He replied awkwardly before adding,
" Just a warning, a bridge is out up ahead."
The sleigh wolves struck up conversation, yet when they asked Lykos about his family, he fell silent. The other wolves exchanged a glance, worried that they had offended this stranger.

After a painfully long pause, the large blue, grey, and white rpw spoke.
"Is their anyway you could get me to the nearby town?"
The sled wolves nodded, gesturing for Lykos to hop in, and they were of in a burst of jingling and singing.

Lykos arrived in his hometown an hour later. He needed to go see someone. He reached the door of his old house and knocked. A dark furred wolf opened the door. She was frail, and specks of grey covered her snout. Her ribs showed through her fur, yet her eyes lit up at the sight of the rpw in front of her.
"Mother" Lykos whispered, eyes glazing over. The wolf smiled at her son, and dragged him inside. She whisked a bottle from her shelf and poured the last of the wine into two glasses, setting on in front of Lykos and sipping on the other herself.

Lykos looked at his mum and sighed.
"I missed you."
The other wolf blinked rapidly, eyes shining with tears.
"Lykos, where have you been the past three months?"

And so Lykos began his story.

He told his mother of how he became what he is now, and how he was tricked into eating his friend. (A/N if you want his history, search up Lykos in my posts. He is event rpw #23)

His mother looked at him with sorrow in her eyes, and then swallowed. She asked the question Lykos was dreading.
"Do you still eat rpws?"
Lykos turned his head away in shame, the awnser obvious.
" Then you are no son of mine. I am not the mother if a monster like you!" The words hung in the air like a thick, constricting fog.
"I'm sorr-" Lykos was cut off.
"Get out of my house. Now!" His mother glared at him, eyes simmering with rage. Lykos turned, running out the door and into the winter snow, blushing with shame.
"Why are you such a monster?" He scolded himself, wishing he could change who he was. He couldn't, and he knew this. With his ears pressed against his head and his spirits low, Lykos began the long walk back to the forest, the last thing his mother said to him still ringing in his ears.

"I wish you had never been born!"

The cold came quickly that winter. It blew in like a stranger, and stayed like a memory. It was said that winter was so cold it could freeze the heart of a mother who once loved her son.

Some facts to increase your understanding of this story;

Lykos is a wendigo, a cannabillistic monster said to have a heart of ice. Wendigos were originally normal wolves, however after eating another wolf they "turn".

In this story, Lykos has only been a wendigo for 3 months, as he turned on Oct 31st.

The song the wolves sing in this is Vive le Vent, the French equivalent to jingle bells.

Desert.

Sand.

Heat.

Light.

Four elements conglomerating into one, vast trial they must surpass. It began there, in that sea of sand and wind, golden beams of warming sunlight shimmering upon their maroon garbs and turning the earth beneath their paws into a land of lonely beauty. There in that desert, Apotheosis began their journey. They never took notice of the vast emptiness about them, the obvious silence that signaled no other signs of life. They were not entirely sure just what this journey would entail, or what waited for them at the end of their journey, but such small notions did not deter their determination. This journey was one that they needed to make, and make it they did.

Paws grew hot as Apotheosis crossed oceans of barren sand, eyes gazed in awe upon the monuments of ruin their ancestors built long ago, limbs grew weary while they trudged through cool underground caverns; it was all a trial of will, one that Apotheosis was determined to master.

But now they came to a standstill, a single maroon statue stark against the environment before them, and for the first time on their journey, there was hesitation.

'What was this place?' they wondered, casting oddly pupil-less eyes about the forest in which they stand.

What once was heat and sand had turned to cold and snow, and the garb wrapped about their frame did little to stave off the freezing wind. All this time they had been following the sun, making their way to the summit of the mountain in which the great sun sets between twin pillars of stone atop its pinnacle, but some time ago while they had been navigating cool underground caverns and dodging the monsters that lurked there, somehow they must have made a mistake. When at last Apotheosis emerged from the caverns the snow and frost that covered their feet was expected enough, but the mountain, the split summit of which they were journeying to reach, was no where in sight.

Instead of the base of a snow covered mountain surrounded by nothing but stone, Apotheosis somehow emerged in the midst of a great forest. Plants they did not recognize grew there; tall, robust things with large stalks made from rough brown bark, and from above sprouted more leaves than they had ever seen from a single plant. These tall vegetation were all around, their branches weaving a cloth of sorts above their head, trapping falling snow in their embrace.

There was not a sound aside from the whisper of wind in their ears, the summit was no where in sight, and Apotheosis was deeply concerned about this. They had never lost sight of their destination before. Their path had been clearly marked, and they had traveled confidently across large expanses of sand to reach here, but now that they had gotten so close to reaching their goal, how could it be that they could no longer see it? There was no way they could be lost, could there?

Many thoughts plagued Apotheosis' mind. This was a problem they had never considered before, but even in light of this new event, they did not panic. They are a decedent of a nomadic people, ones who made the great deserts they past earlier in their journey their home. New sights are nothing to be bothered by, it was just another step in their journey after all, and this odd forest was no different.

All Apotheosis knew to do was to continue going forward, for that is the only direction that made sense. The end to any journey is always ahead of you, and the only way to reach said end was to head straight towards it. So with that in mind their heart stilled and their paws began to move again, carving a lone path through snow through the unknown. They had made it this far on their own, there was no reason to stop now.

As they traveled through this new and unexplored world, they expected many things. They expected to see many strange sights. The tall, brown stalked plants with millions of leaves overhead became a common theme, while other, smaller plants dotted the landscape; bushes, weeds, vines, among others they had no way of knowing the names to. They came to appreciate the change in sight after spending so much time traversing barren desert with little to no life in sight, however, there was one thing that Apotheosis did not take into consideration while they made their way through this snowy land.

Others.

Now the moment Apotheosis spotted their first wolf, they had no idea just what it was. A four legged creature much like them, but instead of glowing horns and tail, it had an array of unique fur tufts and markings about its body, and an odd liquid dripped from its tail. Apotheosis was startled by this, but not frightened. The strange creature never took notice of them, and it appeared as if they had a destination in mind, for they paced through the forest with confident stride.

'Perhaps they make their way to the summit as well.' Apotheosis surmised and, with no better options in mind, decided to follow the odd character.

It wasn't long after that more of the creatures began appearing, and their appearance startled Apotheosis even more. Unlike the nomads which which Apotheosis grew up with, these beings were all unique, and came in all assortments of colors, sizes, builds... too much for them to imagine. They all appeared to be headed in the same direction, and what first began as one wolf slowly became a crowd. There were wolves everywhere, walking both together and alone, but all of them walked in the same direction, as did Apotheosis.

Apotheosis did not know where they were going, but the creatures around them seemed to know something about the land, and followed them. They did not speak to them, however. Apotheosis hardly ever spoke at all, even to their own kind, and even if they did, there was no way of knowing if these creatures would understand the words they used, so instead Apotheosis kept quiet and silently followed the crowd.

It was odd, being in the company of others after making such a long journey up to this point all on their own, but they enjoyed it. Though nomadic in nature, Apotheosis and their ancestors share a great bond with each other, each leading the next on their own journeys when they become of age, and though these creatures are of a breed different from themself, the connection they have to them is no different. Here were others on a journey, travelers just like they, and as such there is an unspoken guideline that they are to aid each other on their journey, no matter where it is their journey leads them.

And so Apotheosis followed the wolves through the snow and trees, just another member of their growing 'pack', paws never faltering in their journey as eventually golden lights appear before them. As the buildings of a village appear though the foliage, a flare appears in their heart, and the song of their people plays in their spirit.
