Free spot: just a regular day.
It was a rather sunny day out, no clouds in sight as the heat rolled in through the grasslands. Horses were sweating, and the lessons going on were put to halt. fans were everywhere, and horses that were in the pasture were sleeping in shade to conserve their energy. I was sitting in the shade two, patting my horse Rawhide, stroking his dark brown hair. He had his head in my lap, his breathing was settle but he huffed and puffed every so often as he fell asleep.

I heard a rattle, dusts, gravel splitting, and so did Rawhide, his head perked up, his ears alert and forward as a loud thumping silver Ford truck pulled up through the dust, right to the front of the barn. From where I was, I was confused, we hadn't been expecting any horses yet, not till later that evening when it was cooled down. Rawhide was on his feet in a few seconds, his head raised high in the prideful way the rescue horse always did. I got to my feet, stroking his neck than walked off, opening the silver gait and shutting it. I latched it securely. Rawhide followed half way then trotted off to a quiet place to munch on some fresh grass.

I saw a guy get out of the vehicle, walking into the barn. He was wearing a tank top and a pair of jeans with some cowboy boots. I watched the silver trailer behind the silver truck. I grew so curious and I walked up to it, trying to see through the windows, but it was closed off, with padded walls. I sighed and I ran to the barn. I stayed back a bit but when they guy turned around, he seemed ot brighten up.

"You must be June?" I gave a nod and he grabbed my hand. I was offend but he lead me to the back and I suddenly let him drag me. My eyes were wide and he slowly opened up the door. Inside stood a beautiful sabino horse. A smile grew on my face, and I could feel something fall over me. It made my hands up to my face, and I felt tingles running through my body."June, Meet yer beautiful mare!"

What was I suppose to do! I wanted to hug it, but from the looks, it seemed rather frightened so I forced myself to calm down and looked it over. I could see it's rib, it's hooves were in terrible condition.Her chestnuts on the inside of her legs were overgrown and would need attention and serious trimming. I looked at Blake who was chewing a piece of barley. He motioned to me and said in a heavily texan accent,"Wait till ya see her run!"

It took a while, getting the trailer up to the fence. The mare was screaming, neighing, and Rawhide seemed rather distressed from his pasture. When they were to the gate, I opened it, pushing it against part of the trailer. Blake had joined me again as I slowly unlatched the door, but before you could say Mouse, that horse was out, bucking. Grass and dirt flew up as she galloped around and around. The sun blazed down onto the Grullo Sabino mare. I smiled. She was a great horse already, with speed and agility...but her attitude seemed wild and uncalled for. I could tell she had never been broke.

I whispered, my tongue felt dry in my mouth,"Fable..." Blake was looking at me than I said, "Tell me a fable...Her name is Segðu mér dæmisaga "

Adjusting to her new Home
I often sat outside with Rawhide in the afternoon from that day on, in a pasture next to the one that Fable was in. At first, Fable was weary of us, even with a fence in the way. But I had noticed,she stopped bucking less as she got use to the mornings. We hadn't had a chance to move her into a barn, and of course, I felt terrible! Any time we got near, she'd spook and leave.
But today was different. I was sitting on the fence this time. Rawhide was standing beind me, grazing, but he looked up once, his ears pricked and would let out a nigh every now and then. I'd pat his head in return, and would then look back over to watch Fable graze. Her ribs were less visible now, and her chestnuts, we had cut off with force, then we gave her a small hair cut. Nothing fancy, but she had to look nice.
