Meeting a new friend
It is all about finding the perfect friends for Enfonce so she can settle down at her new home. I didn't want to overwhelm her with all the new surroundings, new people and the new horses, so today, I've just bought Maverick to Enfonce's holding pen. Maverick is a calm, nurturing stallion with great leadership skills, so I trust his abilities to teach Enfonce and introduce her into the herd. For the first meeting, I decided to shoo Maverick and Enfonce both into a closed, large pen. Enfonce has become more familiar with me and she is starting to show her cheeky side.
I hustled the two horses into the pens. Enforce nudged my arm gently to show her discomfort. Maverick seems to sense the tense feeling in the air, so he took a calm step towards Enfonce and lowered his head in a friendly and comforting gesture. Trusting Mave, I slowly backed away and let the two horses socialize.
Observing from a distances, I watched on as Mave and Enfonce became familiar with each other. Enforce took a playful nip Maverick's hair as Mave shook his head, as if laughing at Enfonce's funny gesture. Feeling good about this, I watched on.
After a while, Maverick and Enfonce seem to have become great friends, playfully tackling each other. Happy with the result, I went to fetch both the horses and put them back. I praised Maverick for his efforts today and rewarded Enfonce with her favourite treats, carrot biscuits!
