History of AdelaideLong ago, Adelaide was well loved and treasured by a brilliant girl named Clara. She would be showered with love and swathed in the finest clothes, the two even shared matching attire. That all vanished when Clara entered 4th grade. It was gradual at first, like how her peers mocked her when she talked about dresses and dolls. This escalated to the point that her teacher had the audacity to tell Clara that science may not be fit for her, as she wouldn't want to get her dress dirty from experiments. Soon she had heard enough from the cutting remarks. Clara traded her dresses for pants and cleared her wardrobe of anything else that was girly. Adelaide watched the entire transformation from the sidelines. Adelaide felt a sense of pride and happiness that Clara decided to peruse her interests. If that took a wardrobe change, so be it. The doll was tucked away in a box full of dresses and was left to collect dust in the basement. When she made a pact with Ataro, she vowed to stay strong and be herself in whatever she decides to pursue, regardless of what others say. To remember her oath, she tore a piece of red cloth from Clara's favourite dress and tied it around her wrist.
Shadow's HistoryAtaro was part of a key that was used to unlock a diary. Many secrets were tightly guarded by him and he greatly enjoyed being the keeper of such treasured thoughts. When his owner decided it was time to free herself from the burden of secrets, she stuffed the diary and the key haphazardly away, causing Taro to break off from the rest of the key. No one noticed him on the ground and was swept into a nook. It's bittersweet really, he was forgotten for many years, but for good reason, and ended up creating a close bond with Adelaide.
PersonalityThe life of the party as many dolls describe her as. Others describe her as sweet and charismatic. All of these traits describe Adelaide at the best of her moods, or when she puts on a facade during parties. Normally, she is witty and sassy, always quick to retort to insults or comment on matters. She likes to be heard and won't let anyone quell that flame without a fight.
Atti is often quieter than Adelaide, as he seems to be a mere pendant on her belt. He listens and observes others carefully, filing away their ticks, habits and secrets. This way, Atti is loud when he needs to be. Around Adelaide, he is always loud, and talking about the latest news, she is always happy to listen to him babble though.
Day life:The new booming name in the fashion industry. Dolls everywhere want to get their hands on her stunning work. The pieces are only available if they order it from her, as she will custom make the garment for her clients. She even appears at high society functions as a VIP since her commissioners want to show off her latest work. As of late, she released a line of casual wear that is both innovative, yet stylish available to the public. Critics claim that they are perfect for mundane life or as a business casual outfit for a day in the office. They were a big hit and companies are lining up to order from the Puzzling Soul brand, much to her delight.
Night life:Adelaide investigates and possibly assassinate significant figures in doll society. The assignments are usually jobs from Shax, as he pays fairly well. She will only take assassination jobs from clients if she is paid handsomely and there is a justifiable reason to end their life early. It usually results in her declining the offers. The fashion company is an elaborate front to secure an alibi. She even released a belt that modelled her own in case Ataro is spotted during her missions. The skills that she posses now didn't come easy to her. Adelaide trained for many years to reach such a high point in her life. Adelaide started at her roots with ballet and gymnastics, which provided her flexibility and grace. Then progressed to building strength by training in martial arts and weapons of all sorts. Knives have decidedly taken the spot as her favourite weapon. They are versatile and have a plethora of sizes and designs, so she would have no problem hiding a couple under her cloak.
If Adelaide ever finds herself bored, she may do a spur of the moment break in, cat burglar style. When I say 'spur of the moment', it actually means she plans it out and does extensive research about the house until she breaks in, but it's totally done like a cat burglar. By the time she's finished the plans though, it's likely that she already has another job lined up. So she files it away for a later date. Of course, she has already done this multiple times, so sooner or later, spur of the moment, may actually mean spur of the moment.
Her Goals;;One day Adelaide wishes to be as revered and loved as some ladies in history like Sonya, who was well known for her thefts and how she was able to escape some of the most fortified prisons. A statue supposedly marks her grave and is visited by many to seek her skill and hope to be like her someday. Even if women like Sonya are exaggerated fables, they once sprang from truth. The women are famous for being outspoken, frightening, and even a little crazy, but they all made the history books by completing wondrous feats while still being true to themselves.
Other than being well known for her thefts and break ins, she wishes to be famous in the fashion world and build an empire on her own bases. She wants people wearing her clothes to be proud of themselves and be unashamed of their bodies. In addition, she also wants others to feel confident and comfortable wearing her brand.
Where do you live now, and with whom?Behind Adelaide's door is her giant paradise. It costed her many arms and legs, but it was worth the effort in the end (and it is much better than the hovel she started with). There are many interesting features such as the entertainment room fitted with a theatre screen, and a state of the art security system, the two created. She also has a room just for her weapons, where she proudly displays her many knives. Currently, the is working on filling up the library. Many shelves lay bare, but the ones that are full are stuffed with numerous history, fashion and adventure novels that interested the doll. Mysteries and thriller books can be found on the shelves for Ataro. There are also many guest rooms, but only Adelaide and Atti reside in the place permanently.
The rooms aside, her favourite part of the house is the view outside the windows. They differ each time she enters and they always take her breath away. Adelaide's favourite scene is the cityscape of Paris at night, while the city is a light. It is always so beautiful and peaceful when it shows up.
Do you have any allergies, diseases, or past wounds (broken bones, etc.)?She is allergic to nothing, as far as she knows. Nor does she have any chronic injuries or illnesses. Adelaide rarely gets sick, but when she does, it's a mess and she's off her feet for days, weeks even. It won't stop her though, she will still attempt to work, only to find that she can barely form a coherent thought.
As for wounds, it comes with the job. It would be odd to expect to come out unscathed from a mission or find something broken or dislocated. Like when she broke her left leg early in her career from lack of thought, or more recently a painful dislocated shoulder from a mission. Sometimes it might be a voluntary action, like how she willingly let her mentor break her left arm so she could train her right arm.
Are you right- or left-handed?Adelaide started out left handed, but became ambidextrous as a result from training. She uses her right hand more often now since her writing looks neater.
Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?Adelaide is pessimistic most of the time because she usually thinks about the worst case scenario. Atti is the complete opposite and will think on the brighter side of things.
How do you deal with stress?Atti likes to vent. A lot. He usually spouts whatever is bothering him until he runs out of steam or feels better. Adelaide on the other hand either sketches in her book or beats out her frustrations.
What is your most treasured possession?A stunning pair of twin knives that were gifted to her from her favourite mentor. The hilt is beautifully crafted out of gold with diamonds embedded in them. They are purely just for looks, as they are practically priceless and irreplaceable if she breaks or looses one of them.
What is your favourite colour?Adelaide like red shades and grey tones as they always seem to work themselves into her wardrobe.
Ataro prefers vibrant, dark colours like navy blue and royal purples.
What, if anything, do you like to read?Occasionally, Adelaide will read adventure novels and sci fi books. She also enjoys reading about legendary women in history.
Ataro enjoys mystery and suspenseful stories, and always tries to figure out the ending before the great reveal.
What are your pet peeves?Dolls that do not understand personal space.
When others talk over her or interrupt her mid sentence.
What are you afraid of?Adelaide has a small phobia of planes. It's partly because of the small space and partly the problems that may occur during the flight. If they crash, she would be unable to prevent her doom and have to watch the scene pan out and wish for the best.
Ataro has mild claustrophobia. After staying in a drawer for so long, they get anxious in cramped, dark places.
Any tattoos or scars?(Ignore this bit if you do not want cracks in the design.)She has a crack on her back that hurt her self esteem, and is careful about showing it off. Adelaide's thinking about going to the paint shop (doll's equivalent to tattoos) to transform the ugly crack into a thing of beauty.
