It had been a breezy summer day the moment he first laid eyes on her. She was stunning, her mane flowing perfectly in the wind, her coat shining under the sunlight. He absolutely couldn't help but stare, jaw dropped. As she glanced over at him and smiled, acknowledging his admiration, his heart nearly beat out of his chest. This certainly wasn't any other mare, and he needed her.

His first attempt wasn't as graceful as he had hoped. In his mind, he brought her flowers, and asked her on a date, she said yes, they went on many dates after and lived happily together forever. But life doesn't work like that, especially if you're Trael. As he had been walking over to the mare, he took a misstep and nearly fell flat on his face. Luckily, no one noticed but himself, so he continued forward. Almost there, he thought to himself. Of course, at that moment a bee came out of the flowers he had in his mouth, and started flying around his head. Keep calm and it'll go away, he thought. Just stay calm..

It didn't go away. It only got worse, the bee flying faster and faster, until it finally stung Trael right on the nose. He shrieked, and the mare turned just in time to see him bucking like a bull in a rodeo. He dashed around the meadow, crunching the pretty petunias and lovely lilacs until they were compressed. She giggled on the side, watching him with joy. When he finally calmed down, he walked over to her with the flowers still in his mouth. A couple petals fluttered to the ground before he handed them to her. "T-these are f-for you.." he mumbled, blushing. She smiled that radiant smile again, making his insides turn to mush. "Thanks," she whispered. She gave him a peck of a kiss, before saying, "Come find me sometime. And next time, leave the bees at home."

The first day he saw her, he was sure he was in love. She was the most beautiful mare he had ever seen, kind and gentle to everyone. So he, being the awkward stallion he was, couldn't talk to her in the least. When she spoke to him, all he could manage was a flustered stammer that no one could ever really understand. Or he sometimes said really embarrassing things. Such as 'Your mane is beautiful', 'You're so nice to everyone', 'Is he your mate?', etc, etc. It was terrible and apparently everyone found humor in it. A stallion like him in love was very amusing. The day he asked her to go out to the river with him, she was 'busy'. The next time he asked her out, to go to the apple orchard, she said she 'had important personal business'. A couple days and he tried again, inviting her to the waterfall near the farm with him. She said she 'had to attend to something at the moment'. Paint was sure she was avoiding him and making excuses, but decided to try one last time.

She said yes to his idea of going to the forest. On the way, she apologized about to going with him on his other outings, and explained that her father had died and that she had been comforting her family and grieving. He told her it was fine, flustering again and somehow managing to say it. The walk in the dappled sunlight was relaxing, and a calm silence set over them. When he got back, he couldn't have felt better. Weeks went by and they started to go out together more and more. Soon, they were spending all most all their time together and Paint could actually look her in the eye and formulate sentences. He invited her to the forest again. They hadn't gone since that first outing. It was there that he told her he like her in a flustered tone. And then pure undulated joy was felt by both when the mare explained shyly that she liked him to, but had been to scared to say anything. They live as mates now, and can read each other like books. They've never been happier.

A couple years back, a handsome colt in the paddock next to hers caught Rhia's eye.
She pranced over, shaking her mane out and swishing her tail enticingly.

"Hey handsome!" She called out boldly, confident as ever. "I'm Rhiannon, what's
your name?"

The young colt stared at her like she was threatening to steal all his oats and slowly
backed away from the fence.

Rhia moved closer, curious about this odd colt, "What? Do I have something in
my mane?"

"No, I uh, I gotta go. Nice meeting you?"

And so started Rhia's one-sided 'relationship' with the colt next door. Over the course
of several months, she kept chatting with him whenever she could, ever so slowly
befriending the shy colt named Ash. In turn, he opened up and they've since moved past
friends and become mates. One day, they laughed over their first meeting and Ash
admitted he was so painfully shy because he was in love at first sight.

Lolita - flirtatious, confident, former brood mare. She'd seen her share of stallions in her time. Many times she'd had first pick on the crowd, taking a unique pleasure in being able to reject a perfectly fine stud just because she could. It wasn't that she didn't like him, per se, it was that she loved being in control.

So when the new stud came to the farm, she surprised herself by being head over heels.

Oh, he wasn't particularly handsome or tall. He had won some competitions, but it was his blood that made him a valuable stud. She flirted with him over the fence, acting like a silly star struck filly whenever he came within sight, arching her neck as far as she could to try and look more pretty and refined, more than she was already. Lolita wasn't one to be shy, but her every attempt romancing this stallion was interrupted, him and by humans, to the point that she became painfully aware of herself, of clamming up more. But now at least, she noticed he seemed to take more notice of her.

Until one night, he interrupted her newest nerve-wracked flirtations and plainly told her - "You know you're already pretty fantastic, right?"

Now they can finish each other's...sandwiches? "Sandwiches!"

Pixel had always had his eye on the stunning gold-coated mare a few fields over. True, they had not met and he didn't even know her name, but she was undeniably pretty and he was sure she would make a wonderful mate. One hot summer day when he had nothing else to do Pixel tried for ages to undo the bolt on the gate. When he finally released himself he trotted past the other horses in the direction of the one he was sure he was in love with.
"Pix, dude, where on earth are you going? Don't you know the food is that way?" called his close friend Thera as she trotted over, from the field next to his, "In fact if you're stealing some hay will you bring me some?"
"Nah, Thera, I'm going to talk to her." he said as he nodded his head in the direction of the mysterious mare's field.
"Who? Pearl?!" Thera questioned.
"Well, yeah..." Pixel blushed, secretly glad he now knew her name at least,"Why?"
"Just she's a bit... high maintenance."
Defensive now Pixel replied, "Well, I'm going to speak to her" as he turned to walk on.
"Suit yourself!" Thera giggled, not one to be offended easily.
Pixel, being the stubborn stallion that he is, approached the fence of Pearl's field anyway.

As she was fussing over a dead fly in her water bucket Pearl noticed in the corner of her eye a handsome stallion she'd never seen before standing at the fence and she pranced over, flirtaciously flicking her mane in the air and generally showing off. Pixel was speechless at the mare's show of beauty, but his face fell when she opened her mouth.
"What?" she asked sharply.
"I- I- Well... Um- I wondered if you'd like- like to...."
"Yes" she snapped, the acid in her voice like a damp cloth on Pixel's crush
"...me to get you some hay?"
"Not unless it's Donovan's premium brand. The one with the purple label? No, I thought not." she snorted down at him and then trotted away, wondering why none of the stallions here were her Prince Charming.
Likewise Pixel walked away defeated. Thera had been more than right - 'high maintenance' was putting it lightly and he realised that the idea of courting Pearl had been far-fetched. He trotted back past his field and snuck into the hay barn, grabbed a whole bale by the twine wrapped conveniently round it and brought it back to the pasture, where he shared it with the much more manageable Thera.
and they lived happily ever after
