The African Continent - the evolutionary birthplace of the Dusa, and where the greatest diversity of Dusa species are found. You have been given a research grant and the opportunity to travel to two sites to observe wild Dusa in their natural habitat - one in the mountains of Uganda, where packs of Striped Dusa with rare mutations hide, and one in the deserts of northern Egypt, where you may just get a glimpse of the elusive Sable Dusa. Do you have what it takes to find and bring back one of these rare bovids?

Welcome to the Dusa Summer Event! As of June 22nd, there will be rare Dusa with new mutations up for adoption, and even an entirely new species, never before seen by the public. This event will be ongoing throughout the summer.

There will also be activities and challenges that you can participate in for the chance to get your very own semi-custom Dusa! Read on for more information.

Southwest Uganda


Dense mountain jungle. Base camp is located at the foot of the mountain, where there are fewer trees and the terrain begins to meld into the savannah.


There is a large population of Striped Dusa (Dusa dusa) in this area. The objective is to observe their behaviour in the wild, and confirm that the population is healthy and stable. There are also rumors of Dusa with strange mutations in these forests.

Common Name: Striped Dusa, Common Dusa


Near-Threatened.


Up to 1.2m at the shoulder. Thick fur, with short mane running along of the back, long hair on chest and stomach. Tail is long and muscular, wavy hair at the end. Coat ranges from mahogany to black, with darker striping and a white rump patch. Band of white across the eye, another on the cheek.

Pointed (cp)

Causes pigment to appear
only on cooler areas
of the body.

Brahman Ears (Hb)

Causes large, floppy ears.

Double Striping (a+)

Causes faint striping between main stripes.

Northern Egypt


Desert & Scrubland. Base camp located near an oasis, under stand of date palms.


Recent reports of Sable Dusa (Dusa vivus) in the area. Confirm if sightings are genuine. If positive identification is obtained, population size, health and stability must be recorded to aid in conservation efforts.

Common Name: Sable Dusa, Desert Dusa


Unlisted due to lack of data.


Up to 0.75m at the shoulder. Short, sleek coat. Stiff mane along neck and back. Coat is light tan to grey in colour, with paler belly, legs and rump. Coat is usually spotted, devolving into stripping on tail. Horns are short and slim, and point backwards and out. Large ears.

Leucistic (cl)
Causes fur to become a
very light cream colour.
Not albino, but related.

This challenge is a level-based system, with rewards based on the highest level completed at the end of the event. Each level requires different activities to be completed. You may choose a base camp to operate from, which will in turn determine what species of Dusa you will receive. (Uganda site = Striped Dusa, Egypt Site = Sable Dusa). You may not change location once you have started. It is recommended that you create a topic to keep track of your progress. You may submit your form at any time, however you can only win one Dusa, and once your form is submitted for judging you cannot advance your level further.

Custom, any coat colour, no special mutations
Write a short story (min 100 words) and draw a coloured sketch about capturing and tagging a wild Dusa, and then releasing it.


Custom, any coat colour + one special mutation
Draw a half or fullbody coloured sketch with a simple background and write a short story (min 200 words) about how you came across your Dusa and why it had to be removed from the wild.


Once you have completed to the highest level you wish to attain, post your form on the event thread and an artist will claim it.
