A long time ago, there lived a young kind-hearted king. The people of the kingdom adored him. He never did anything for the his own benefit, he only gave and gave to his people.
Many say, that was the reason for his downfall.
This kind King got so caught up in making everyone happy, that he didn't take care of himself and he became very ill. At first it was only a cold, but it worsened each day until he was too weak to walk. As his health deteriorated, the people grew worrisome. Their beloved King's life was hanging by a thread, and there was no heir to the throne.
One terribly stormy night, when the clock struck midnight, the King took his last shaky breath. He had only been 21.
The next morning was pierced with the wails of his people. Women, children, and even the most rugged of men, cried for the loss of their King. The people grieved for many days.
After weeks of sadness, the Royal Council decided that they would try to bring back the King in the form of a divine spirit. They had heard stories of divine beings named "Iquena" that were kind-hearted souls reborn into mystic creatures. They instructed the Kingdom to think of the King being reborn on that the next night when the clock struck twelve.
When midnight arrived, every single man, woman, child, dog and cat thought and believed in the deceased King. They thought of his smile, his warmth, and his love. But there were those who hated the King. They envied his fame, power, and riches. They thought only of hate and blackness.
Suddenly, a large storm cloud formed over the castle, much like the one that cover the castle on the day of his death. A giant fork of white lighting struck the castle. The cloud then disappeared into thin air, and everything fell silent.
There, in the chambers of the king, lay a grey beast. Eyes as orange as a dying sun. The prince was born. At first the Council thought he was perfect. He could outlive any human and rule the land for years. Oh how very wrong they were.

Unfortunately, Ulric was born with a personality disorder. He exhibits both the gentle personality of any normal Iquena, and the reckless personality of a fallen angel. One minute he'll be breaking vases and growling, the next laughing at something only he can understand, then crying while standing over the remains of the vase.
His main personalities can be classified into three different categories:

Most people believe he is not fit to rule. They dismiss him as insane. But that's because they refuse to acknowledge his most predominant characteristic. He's smart. So very
smart. A complete genius. Ulric is so intelligent, a mere mortal could not even begin to comprehend the workings of his mind.

This is the most vulnerable of Ulric's personalities. He desperately needs the comfort if Ethereal or else he might end up seriously harming himself.

Due to his unpredictable behaviour, even though he is the oldest and should be the one to succeed the throne, Ulric cannot be trusted to rule the kingdom alone. His impulsive reactions and sometimes violent behaviour could lead his country to ruin. So it was decided that he must share rule upon the land with his sister, Princess Ethereal. Ulric has never been capable to form healthy relationships due to his sociopathic nature, the only exception being Ethereal. He has grown inseparably close to her, as she has provided him with what one might call, grounding, like the earth is grounding for lightning. It can be almost guaranteed that Ulric will not have an unexpected outburst, as long as Etheral is in the room. Her quiet but strong presence sooths him and keeps him under control. If he is having a particular bad episode, Ethereal will hum the tune of "
The Last Story" to him. This will atomatically calm him down and he'll come to her and lie down beside her, sometimes even fall asleep.
bandages;;Ulric was born with an exceptionally powerful mind and an extra set of short legs at the front. Since energy was diverted to there two areas, his back legs got the short end of the stick, and were born very weak. With nothing to support them, he trembles when he walks and can only travel for very short distances. So, ever since she was old enough to help, Ethereal has been wrapping his back legs in white bandages once every other day. This constant care is the reason why Ulric is so attached to her.
