it isn't it's smell, shape or even the pine tree in general.
the thing they love about their item is the comfort it gives them. for the longest time, lumière's jar was empty, because they were lost. they felt lonely and depressed until they finally found the perfect item to put into their jar. they don't really know why they chose it or how they got their hands on it, but they love it so much because it gives them a sense of comfort, a sense of being themselves. even the small things can make phenomenal differences.
