Version Without Shading

From the moment I finished designing her, I could clearly picture the scene: a mare, standing alone acrest a stark island of stone, the cold and ice battering her lithe, but powerful frame and obscuring her in the bleakness of the storm. She watches for danger, her piercing eyes missing nothing, her nostrils flaring. She waits, but for what, I do not know.

What's she waiting for?: She is waiting for the sunshine to come - she can see it on the Horizon and can't wait for it to arrive - it has been raining for so long and she really has enough of the cold wind blowing around her head and making her freeze so much - same with her life - so many bad things happened and such hard times she went through - there have to be better days now - she is really hoping for a reason to be in a good mood again...

The one thing she is scouring the grounds and the sky for is something as mysterious and unknown as herself, only appears brightly 12 times during a full cycle of the seasons, sometimes half hiding, a guider during the gloomy darkness. The moon.
She is drawn by the mystery around it, and will climb as far as she can go to find it, and watch it, and follow it's steps to where it might lead her. Up colder and rockier habitats, and down valleys and unknown territorium. Through bone chilling colderness that claws at her bones, and heat blazing warmth that burns her skin, she will always follow her guide. The mysterious sun in the dark.

I loved your spin on the concept; The way she's staring off over the ocean, with the sleet battering her... a hopeless scene, yet the sun tries to shine through it all. It's everything I imagined.
