The siblings were separated while their mother sacrificed herself.

The two, Yukiko- Snow. And Yuruko- Night. found themselves separated,
Yukiko, awoke on the moon while Yuruko awoke in the stars,
It felt like eternal wandering, until they found the "cosmic crossroads"
a path made out of stars
It lead home, To earth.
The boy ran ahead, Basking himself in the warm light of the sun.
He smouldered away, in the heat, Transforming himself into stardust.
The girl Ran and collected the stardust he once was, and brought him straight to the crossroads where he took his original form once again.

"Huh? It's so cold here... Why do we have to be here?"
"You almost died! Take more caution."
"Yuki, I've just been really cold..."
"I know but... we have to stay out of the warmth. Or else we'll...
be eliminated"

Facts about them;;

-Yukiko and Yuruko are siblings
-They were separated from
their mother after a huge
storm when they were little.
-In a flash of magical light they
found themselves torn away
-They are still separated; Yukiko
is trapped on the moon and
Yuruko is stuck amongst the
stars. They can only see each
other from midnight-to-morning.
At this time they have free
range and can visit each other or
go to earth. They have to always
stay hidden from sunlight, though.
So they stay on the night-time
side of earth, the dark side
of the moon, etc.
-They cannot stay in the
sunlight for very long;
if they do, their fur
will start to singe
-They both cry bits of frozen stardust
-Whenever Yukiko cries,
the moon shines brighter.
-Whenever Yuruko cries,
the stars lighten up
the sky for a while.
-It is unknown how long they
will live, but they are not immortal
-If Yukiko dies, the moon will
crackle and Yuruko will die.
-If Yuruko dies, the stars
will dull and Yukiko will die.
-Yuki means "snow" or "ice" in Japanese
-Yuru means "night" in Japanese
-They have fur; But it is very slick and usually is not visible.

Moonlight and Midnight, respectively

As the embodiment of their respective themes, they are both genderless
and don't care what they are referred to as.

Moonlight's Personality:
Moonlight is very quiet, yet happy and brave. They don't like confrontation
but they will fight when necessary; but the only brawls that Moonlight gets into
on a normal basis are fights with their sibling. They tend to avoid stressful
situations and prefers quiet to loud. Despite being very interested and curious
about the world around them, they explore safely and would never risk their
life in a reckless way. In short, Moonlight is curious, yet quiet; cheerful, yet
wary; and antisocial, yet brave.

Midnight's Personality:
Midnight is much more shy than Moonlight and finds themself keeping Moonlight
out of trouble more often than not. They are even more quiet than Moonlight,
even to the point of being completely mute. They are extremely cautious and
rarely interfere with mortal affairs. In fact, Midnight tends to avoid any area
with life present. That being said, they are pretty intrigued by nonliving artifacts
and collect whatever they deem interesting (and safe).

- They are about the same height/length of a horse, not including their ears/tails.
- They can survive in space, and like to visit from planet to planet.
- They never leave each others' sides.
- They are the embodiment of midnight and moonlight.
