Cally is a very doubting mare. She thinks life is a lie, filled with illusions and impossibilities that you are told aren't actually impossible or illusions. She's very hard and angry all the time, with a sharp tongue and temper that will flare up very quickly and take hours to calm. If she does bottle up her anger, it will explode with even the slightest touch and could go off at any time, like a bomb that's ticking with numbers you can't understand, so you never know when it will explode. She doesn't forgive and forget- in fact, she can hold quite a grudge, and hates those who cause her grief. Anytime that she finds a lie told to her, she will hold that against that creature for as long as she lives. But, there are a few things that still bring her joy, and that sometimes will bring out a little bit of the old Cally. She loves rainforests, chameleons, and anything green. She especially likes chameleons because they cause her to forget that the impossible isn't true, because they can vanish so quickly that it should be impossible. Those three things bring out the old Cally sometimes, but as quickly as it appears, it disappears as well. Happy and care free Cally can disappear with a snap of your finger and be unhappy and doubting Cally once more.
But, Cally wasn't that way when she was little. She was naive, believing the impossible, making wishes on stars and dandelion seeds, and thinking that anything can come true if you really want it to. She thought she could fly. She thought she could do whatever she wanted. But, she wanted two things the most. She wanted her parents to stop fighting and be happy together, as well as one other thing. She wanted her mother to not be so angry. But, when her mother's anger spilled out on her one day, crushing everything Cally was raised to believe and then burning the dust, Cally was hardened, and no longer believed that her wishes could come true. She became very different, as if the real Cally was gone and a poor imposter was in her place.

Cally always says, "Illusions aren't uncommon to find. In fact, life is a simple illusion."
But, didn't always say that. In fact, there once was a time when Cally thought that the only impossible thing was something, other than that, being impossible. Back when she found herself naive enough to buy that lie...
"Mother! Mother!" I called, running towards my mother from across the meadow, eager as ever.
"What is it now Cally?" Mother's reply was tart.
"Mother, I think I can fly!" I said with a grin. "I think, if I run fast enough, I can!"
Mother eyes narrowed at me, and she sounded frustrated. I'd never heard her like it before.
"Cally!" She snapped. "Stop spouting such nonsense!"
I took a step back, surprised, and stammered out, "N-n-nonsense?"
"Yes, nonsense." Mother spat, and her voice was hard and cruel. "Oh, I think I can fly! Oh, I think I can make this happen! I can make that happen! I'm sure I can do this! I'm positive I can do that!"
I let out a cry of pain, as if she'd kicked me, because her words stung, and I begged and pleaded with her to stop. "Mother, stop, please!"
"No, Cally!" She said. "Do you want to know the truth?" I shook my head, tears forming, but she plowed on. "Life is full of illusions and impossibilities. You can't fly. No one can. You can't do any of the things you think you can! Impossibilities are very common in life Cally! Very very common!"
She took a breathe as if to continue, but then as suddenly as the outbursts began, they stopped. My mother had always had a temper, especially with my father, but she'd never taken it out on me before. When she stopped, she looked at me as if she didn't realize what she had done before.
"Cally..." She began, her voice soft and lulling, like a mother cooing to a baby.
But the damage was done. It was then that I realized that hardly anything was possible. That life liked to paint pictures and illusions, and that the truth would be in simple black and white. Tears pouring down my face, I fled.
"Cally!" My mother's voice came, and even though awhile later I returned, I knew now that everything I'd been raised to believe was one word.
A lie.
