『S』ince birth, Verdant has always been an energetic bundle of joy. She was the fifth of her litter, born into a large, tightly-knit family. Many enjoyed having her company, albeit often energetic to the point of being annoying. Often times she acted prideful, which annoyed other just as much. Though there was someone, her best friend Vermilion, who never seemed to be rubbed the wrong way by the way she acted. He grew to like the way she acted, and she grew comfortable being herself around him. Overall, Verdant's life began as a joyful explosion.
『I』t wasn't until a few years after her birth that things began to change. At that time Verdant was starting to amass a short-temper. If someone rubbed her the wrong way, she would most likely explode in anger. This, eventually, caused her to discover something that set her apart as the odd-one-out of her litter; the black sheep of the family. One time, when a sibling had pushed her past the boiling point, her fur started to fluff up, leaves appearing between many tufts of hairs. These leaves flew as a rainbow-colored flurry at her sibling, injuring them. This awakened ability began to always trigger whenever she became mad.
『M』ost everyone, even her friends and family, began to label her as a freak of nature or a menace to society. Others wanted to be around her less and less. That was, everyone except Vermilion. Even through this 'rough patch', he stayed her friend. When news of Verdant possibly being sent away got out, both her and Vermilion were terrified. Eventually, he offered to run away with her. But before they could actually go through with that plan, Verdant was taken away in the middle of the night after a tiring day, forced to live and walk on her own after being left far away from her home, family and friends. Now, Verdant's life had become a small whisper.
『S』he became somewhat of a drifter or nomad. There wasn't any place she stayed in for too long, and there wasn't anyone she allowed to get too close to her, because she had become untrusting. The only possession she had with her was a red pillow her old friend Vermilion had given to her as a gift. During this time she had become a very quiet, secluded doughnuter. Keeping to herself, she did her best to not be energetic, prideful, and most of all angry. Instead, she became humble and kept in the shadows.
『W』hat ended up humbling her was this entirely horrible and terrifying experience she had just been through with her family—the place and friendships she had grown up with. After all of this, she would constantly ask herself, “Where did I make a mistake…?” She wondered what she had done wrong. This led to her thinking she was someone horrible, seeing everyone else as better than her. At least they didn’t have some power that hurt others out of anger.
『A』t first, she hated her newfound power. It had caused her to lose her old life; who else wouldn't hate it? But, eventually, this resentment, through contemplation, slowly became intrigue and desire. A desire to control her power fueled by a general curiosity. Learning to control it wasn't easy. Day and night, in secret, she studied this mysterious power of hers, and tried to figure out how it worked. This meticulous studying gave her an analytical personality. Soon she learned that in order to control this power, which she herself named Magical Leaf, she would have to properly channel her anger. This became easier and easier, and after time she was able to use it on command. However, it had a cost of making her exhausted after so many uses. Once she even passed out, sleeping outside on the dirt.
『T』hrough her studies, she created, or rather discovered, a second power which she called Synthesis. Her entire body would glow, appearing to literally soak in the sun, and heal any ailments whether physical things like cuts or more internal things like a sickness. However, it couldn’t fix her exhaustion after overuse of her powers, which she had now decided to call moves. This exhaustion seemed to be a reoccurring theme.
『S』till untrusting and slowly trying to merge back into society, Verdant was starting to become a bit more like her old self again after coming to terms with her powers and situation. She started to become more energetic than she had been, and because of her being shy, shutting others out for so long, she was often easily embarrassed or flustered. Though she acted stubborn at times, this was only so she could hide her untrusting nature around others.
『N』o longer frequently moving from place to place, she settled down in a small, quiet village. An old, poorly conditioned abandoned house caught her eye and, after prettying up the place, she decided to claim it as her own. It was placed in the center of a small but empty and open square of grassy land. It was here that she chose to embrace a guilty pleasure of hers; kiwis. Though most doughnuters could only eat sweets and such, and found fruits and vegetables to be very poisonous, Verdant absolutely hated sweets, and very much loved kiwis. And now that she ‘owned’ a place hidden, all to herself, she eventually started growing kiwis there in a garden.
『D』uring her time managing this garden, she discovered something about herself. There was no doubt that she had become very hasty. No matter what she was doing, she liked to do it quick and often without much thought. This showed whenever she, for example, moved at a fast pace when walking or, of course, became impatient with her kiwis not growing fast enough. Of course with gardening, her analytical side made her very meticulous, as to not make a mistake. Nonetheless, she was still impatient to a certain degree.
『O』ne day, however, something happened while she was gardening that could be considered a huge mistake, depending on how you look at it. As she was gathering freshly-grown kiwis, there was something on the ground. Picking it up, she wiped off the dirt and tried to figure out what this object was. It was circular, almost disc-like in appearance, hole in the middle and everything. The entire ‘disc’ was tinted in a purplish color. And to Verdant, it smelled like some sort of donut. A fruity donut. So, she decided to eat it, and down the hatch it went. But that was a very bad idea. Mere seconds after eating it her body felt tingly. The icing on her neck faded to a sickly purple. And, out of nowhere, she spat a purple liquid from her mouth onto her kiwi plants. Afterwards, the plants wilted and died very quickly, as if poisoned. She took this as discovering a third move, which she called Toxic. After use, the icing on her neck would return to its natural green color.
『T』hough she was furthering her knowledge and control of her powers every day, she still had, at times, a hard time controlling them and her anger. Still, mental scars from her abandonment by friends and family lingered, and kept her trusting other very little. Because of these two reasons, though she was letting herself slowly merge back into society, she still prevented herself from getting to close to anyone. She feared being abandoned or hurt again, and dreaded the possibility of hurting someone she cares about. This made her rather lonely, never really having any close or ‘real’ friends.
『T』here was one thing she hadn’t anticipated; something which was guarded by her untrusting ways acting as a barrier. In her studies, she speculated that she would only be able to ‘learn’ four different moves. If true, three of those four slots had already been filled. What she didn’t know is that a certain wish would have to be fulfilled in order to unlock the mystery behind the fourth move. Now, I ask this of you, who will come along and help grant her a Healing Wish?
