I'm just me. I'm different, in my own way.
Let me be who I am.
Respect my beliefs and I will respect yours.
Do remember that violence leads to no peace.

Will you let me be who I am?
I promise you won't regret it.
Don't worry, little one, I mean no harm.
Will you be my friend?

I know I may not be the greatest,
But I will be a steadfast friend.
Just trust me, give me a chance,
Neither of us will have to be alone anymore.

One chance, one chance, that's all I need.
No more do I ask from you, rid me of my greed,
Will you be my companion,
If I pledge to be yours?

So while taking a deep breath, I ask you once more,
Will you be my friend?

Username ;;
Image

Thunder.. I'm afraid that I'll be going into philosophical overdrive if I begin to explain why I chose this username. Thunder was a cat of mine, a yellow-eyed, lively black tom who was, was loved by all my family members. Unfortunately, he died of a disease years ago, and I terribly miss him. Still, enough sob stories.

However, I am planning to change this username once in a while. I have edensor ; in mind; a book title from my country which I appreciate very much. Now, let us get on to the Kida... shall we?

Kida's Name ;; Ling, meaning the spiritual world. As you progress in reading my form, you will see why I named him as such. Ling is also the name of one of my highly favored characters, Ling Yao from Fullmetal Alchemist. Not a bad name, I must say. If I were to give him a surname, it would be Zhuo. I can't seem to explain why; it sounds odd but I like it.

You'll see why I chose this name for him as you progress towards his personality.

Kida's Personality ;; With a distinctive personality, Ling is easily differed from other Kidas, but he does not mind the contrast he has. He is very spiritual and believes that both his heart and soul reside in his mind, and he meditates from time to time in belief that he could gain 'balance and a spiritual state of mind,' as he says it.

From time to time he is seen with his eyes closed in a sitting position; his two tails upright and the lantern moved closer to one tip of his Bura tail, so that when lit, the red light shines directly
Image
above his head. During these times, Ling never moves, and could remain so for hours. An expression of solemn concentration would be plastered on his face.

In certain circumstances he can be found under a cherry blossom tree, sitting close to a pond and staring deep beyond his own reflection. He has no actual goal in life; for now he is content with finding his 'true self.' His reflection, according to Ling himself, was his first step to finding out what he was and why he was as such.

"When you look for something, you must first think of where you would find it. Sometimes it is beyond your reach. Sometimes you must work hard to obtain it. But in other cases, what you truly look for is yourself."

Some say, life is mere. Some claim that we live because we make a community, and that if one of us is to perish, another will appear. Have you heard of the phrase, 'When one leaf falls, a thousand more grow?' Ah, it may seem foreign to you. But there is no truth in the words I have recited."

We live, but to what extent? Why? My opinion states that we are searchers, or that a part of us is an explorer, but the rest would be up to you."

Such were the wise words he spoke, though to whom this message was spoken remains unknown. He never speaks clearly and his tongue is twisted. When he opens his mouth, he speaks poetry. He knows not of the regular friendships a Kida could have, but he is a loner type and is therefore undaunted by having no form of Kida company.
Image

Other creatures, however, spark his interest. Ling never had a pet, but he has had many an encounter with animals. He recalls many of them, and most end up in a tangle of confusing yet intriguing stories, all told in Ling's point of view.

-----------------------------------------------

Image

"This one rabbit, he had cotton fur. But did he know what it meant? Probably not; it takes years to find the true meaning of oneself, and this particular rabbit had not lived that long. But he had white fur; did it mean something? I would have told the rabbit; he was Shuang, he was bright. However, the quest of finding is in himself, and I must leave the task to him and him alone."

Image
Image

"She was a fledgling sparrow. Her feathers were little more than a mix of light and dark brown, and her beak was sturdy. The meaning of her simple appearance was easy to tell; she had a great life ahead of her, therefore her true self is Shi. Ironically, 'shi' means 'death' in Japanese, but I gave her my Chinese blessing, the word that meant 'lifetime.' She was simply trembling with life! She must learn to control it."

Image

"You may say that he was just a fish, but that was exactly why I observed him. He was of a kind that cared for beauty, and he possessed that. With his orange and white painted back, how could one not think of him as a work of art? A masterpiece created by a being high above us. But my job is only to find himself. And he is Fei, the luxuriant."

Image
Image

"For a bat, she had an interesting persona. She had leathery wings and spiky fur, but she was harmless. She was made of strength and power, spiritually, but she also had a connection to appearance. Therefore, she is Tiao, to gaze at, for she was beautiful."

-----------------------------------------------

As such, Ling can easily lounge with a new animal companion, quietly studying his or her personality before finding a word that could lead to the animal finding his or her true self. However, as he stated before, Ling does not believe that telling the animal would do him or her — the animal — any good, as the journey to find one's true reason to live is a sole quest.

"I am no spellcaster, nor do I possess any wizardry. All I do is find out more about life and what it means. And animals are easy to practice with, as they have simple minds. By finding out what others mean in this world, I hope to find myself, not only as Ling, but also as a role player in life.,"

Animals are just like us, and I never call an animal with 'it,' for an animal has as many rights as we do. Therefore, only 'he' and 'she' can be applied to animals. I respect them, and so should you."

However, the saying 'the saddest people smile the most' is true in Ling's case. He was once laughed at for being a disfigured, two-tailed, odd-maned lame Kida. He was born with a sort of leg injury that was surgically healed long after his teenage years. Those times had were rather hard for him, but in the end, they made him stronger.
Image

"Why must I be laughed at, only because I have two tails? I an different, and I am proud of it. If you cannot see how being different makes you special, then I would say that you are Wushi — in other words, oblivious. Which means I would like for you to explain why being alike would be good.

Being different is one thing I know about myself, but that doesn't mean that I already know all of myself. It's just the tip of the iceberg, really. A fragment of the puzzle that I'm trying to solve. If one were to ask me a question about me, I wouldn't answer. Right now, I only know of myself as different. That's why I carry my lantern; to be even more different."

And carry the lantern he does. Soon it became his signature item, and he wears it for as long as he can remember. Now other Kidas consider him as regal, but they still talk behind his back. Of course, Ling knows of these, and yet he still ignores them. He refuses to be shaken and will not let go of what his passion seems to be. Even when Kidas insult him for finding obvious things and phrases. For if his meaning in life is to speculate, what else will be there to speculate but life itself?

"This is what I live for. I am an asker, a finder. I will not stop until I find what I've always wanted to find; myself. And when I find who I am, I will continue to search; to search for another day, another week, another month, another year. I will not stop, not until my last breath, and I will find things from the Kidas, the humans, the earth, and the greatest mystery of all, the moon."

-----------------------------------------------

The moon itself was Ling's greatest questions. How was it made? Who made it, and why? What light comes from it, so cold and daunting? Why does it glow at night, and why does it have the company of millions of stars? What is the moon's purpose in life? Was it even a living creature, or was it an illusion that it moved?

"Maybe I will never know..."

Why I Want This Kida ;; Agatha, Pandora, and Detak need a special friend! And besides, I think I could make a great story with the four. Kidamburas have fished for my interest, and I may create more stories for myself, and eventually publish them with the permission I need. And to have the 50th Kida would be amazing. I know that he/she has no name or gender at the moment, but I will continue to address him as Ling throughout this form.

Ling represents the Chinese culture, if even slightly, and I greatly appreciate that. I am partly Chinese and I think that I could relate to this beauty you've made — despite him being far more regal than me. I love the fact that he has two tails, and the way you've colored him is fantastic.

As for the lantern, for some reason I believe that it could be a completely separate story. Despite having little mention in the above text, I could expand that and eventually create a story devoted to no more than the lantern. After all, it's easy to describe just a flame. I could call it fire, a flare, a brilliance within the translucent red paper that hung from his tail. With him, I could write a masterpiece, one as good as he himself is.

I simply adore his mane; it makes him look far better. The color palette was unique and fell perfectly into place without any visible contrasts, therefore it's not too harsh for the eye. And that one leg with the tree branch — how did you come up with that? It's a great touch! The Chinese on his shoulder as well as the ring — is it a ring? — on his ear, the little things we can appreciate.

Haiku ;;
Winds blow from the West
As the sun rises, morning
Dawns another day.

Sparrows are chirping,
I walk, and cherry blossoms
Fall surrounding me.

And so they swirl round,
Making circles round my paws
With the forest veil.

So April, tell me
Why am I so alone here
I need a new friend

Lonely, I crouch low
Pitter-patter goes the rain
It makes me run far

I seek the shelter,
Among the fallen leaves
I see the new face

Eyes that looked like mine,
New friend I have found, I knew
She was just perfect.

And the spellbounding,
When we met under the shade
A miracle, ours.

Forevermore knows,
Image

We shall not part, nor leave one
To fend for oneself.

Perfect we will be,
Always remember, companion
We will never part.

The first encounter between Agatha and Ling. They would be great friends, close to each other's hearts. Ling is almost Agatha's secret friend. He is her guide, too. And when they first met, what struck Ling was how frightened Agatha was.

Pandora and Detak were her only other friends, but Agatha was letting the world know about that. She didn't want anyone knowing about Ling. A hidden relationship that must never be found.

Lyrics That Describe This Kida ;;
And then
When the Empress ran aground
And my eyes turned blue and green
I heard a gorgeous sound
And that's when it became a dream

When the sky fell in
When the hurricanes came for me
I could finally crash again
And that's how I became the sea

How I Became The Sea by Owl City

"For even though I do not see myself as the sea, these words I can relate to. When I finally regained function of my leg and no longer was I a lame Kida, ecstatic I became. And even though I was still laughed at, I struggled and became what I am now; a vast ocean of life and spirit."

The Empress? Well... she's a little friend of mine, no less and no more."

-----------------------------------------------

It's amazing how you
Can speak right to my heart.
Without saying a word
You can light up the dark.

When You Say Nothing At All by Ronan Keating

"How I speak to animals... it isn't really talking, but somehow I interpret their feelings and emotions. Despite not yet having a significant other, I read expressions, so I am content with animals for now. Maybe one day..."

And then, the one I would truly sing this song to? Ah, she would never want me to reveal her name. A fair young maiden, she is. The perfect lady for me, who dreams of skies and stars."

Kida's Theme Songs ;; I have singled out two songs in particular which, in my opinion, can capture the essence that this Kida has given me. And with these lyrics I will describe why I think these lyrics are appropriate for the said Kida.

-----------------------------------------------

Is it a kind of dream,
Floating out on the tide,
Following the river of death downstream?
Oh, is it a dream?

This opening matches Ling's thoughts and his philosophical personality. He questions, even though he does not know who to ask. He simply utters what's on his mind at these times, and wonders what it is he's looking for. The river of death, he thinks, but in truth, there's probably no river at all. He merely acts as if it is a river or a tide. Perhaps it is only a line of painful occurrences, one he has trouble going through.

There's a fog along the horizon,
A strange glow in the sky,
And nobody seems to know where you go,
And what does it mean?
Oh, is it a dream?

Ling is lost. He feels like he is trapped in his 'dream,' his situation. The glow, of course, is unidentified. Chances are, the glow is his choice. To run after it or leave it be. A decision that would change his future. And that is why Ling hesitates, asking for help, and that help is lost. He's looking for an assisting friend, someone to support him during his loneliness. He is different from other Kidas and is desperate for a mental look-alike. Someone who shares a mind like his.

Bright eyes,
Burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
How can you close and fail?
Image

How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.

Now Ling is... afraid. He is losing faith. Nobody knows what sort of faith is slipping away from him, but he is losing it, and fast. It used to burn, like a wildfire. Now it's dying. It used to be so strong, unwavering, and now... we'll, he's disbelieving.

Is it a kind of shadow,
Reaching into the night,
Wandering over the hills unseen,
Or is it a dream?

Things he would have gladly believed in; spiritualism and the fair magic that hung in the air he breathed in, and now, he's facing a choice. To keep his faith in ancestors and Chinese histories, or to accept that this so-called belief was no more than a dream; a bubble, one that burst in front of his face.

There's a high wind in the trees,
A cold sound in the air,
And nobody ever knows when you go,
And where do you start,
Oh, into the dark.

And then he realizes — it's more than faith. It's his love, too, someone who he cares about. And there's something wrong about this said person, even though he tries to keep her secret.

Bright eyes,
burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
how can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.

He knows things would turn out okay, but he can't help but worry. All he can say is, 'I'm sorry, I'm sorry,' but he can't fix anything. What's done is done.

Bright eyes,
burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
how can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.

-----------------------------------------------

This next song, unfortunately, has no English lyrics. However, it would be lovely if you took your time hearing it. I will provide links for you, and they can be found either here or here.

The first link will lead you to a video. I do not own this video; it was composed by V.K. It is Taiwanese, which I hope you like. Its title is Hua Sui Yue. The second one is the same, except it contains lyrics. I'm sure that the song would accompany you well as you read my next entry, a story told in third person.

Kida's Story ;;

Garden of Eden

Ling looked at the sky. Clouds crept across the blue scene. The two-tailed Kida sighed. He could feel the wind ruffle his fur ever so gently. Savoring the air rushing through his mane, Ling stood up, his double tails rising. Their soft tufts touched the branch of a low-hanging tree.

There he was, in the Chinese garden, where he could finally meet with tranquility. A place for him to rest, to relax and gaze upon the little things in life, or the little things that lived. Somewhere nice and peaceful, where he could spend time to himself and the animals, not to other Kidas. Here, he would be alone, with friends almost nonexistent to others.

Enclosed by walls, the garden still appeared widely spaced, which Ling suspected to be caused by the trees. They were close to each other, their branches meeting to create a canopy. It gave the impression of an endless forest, but it also had statue's and figures that diverted one's attention.

Paths stretched from one section of the garden to another. They divided the grassy patches of land, smoothly running over them, winding around the trees like rough, gray-brown snakes. They provided visitors with a way to enjoy themselves. It would be nigh impossible to walk through these trees and not feel the need to pause and look around. Here and there, the flowers were planted to make intricate patterns across the garden.

A line of bamboo stalks, bushy with light green leaves, stood behind Ling. The Kida himself was standing at the edge of a small pool. Fishes swam beneath the surface, but Ling couldn't pay attention to them.

The garden was definitely not made to be taken all at once; its many aspects were too much for one to process correctly at first glance. Each quirk would have to be studied closely, for every one had its place in the garden.

Ling chose a pavilion as his example. This pavilion was designed to have a structure much like any other pavilion; in other words, it was the same as any he'd seen before. And yet it was still different. It stood out, its red markings a contrast to the green landscape. It was breathtaking. It had no walls, a green roof and thin red pillars. The shade it provided was intentional; it must have been built to give visitors a place to rest.

Historically, it was a typical pavilion. Small, circular with a path leading to and away from it. But pavilions in old times dated back many years ago, used as normal buildings, larger and grander in size and shape. They would probably arch high above a mere Kida, such as the Song Dynasty's remains.

This pavilion, in itself, was an ant in a colony, but with a specialty of its own. Ling could not say how or why, but he knew that this one aspect existed. He then decided to dismiss his thoughts on the said pavilion and move on to another topic of this garden.

What of the rock garden? Ling's head swiveled to one side, intending to view it. Odd as it was, the actual concept of a rock garden's origins were partly from Japan.

Smooth gray rocks, that was what the average person would have seen. Except Ling knew that there was more to the gardens than just that. They were not sculpted, but they represented a landscape. It was a zen garden, with sand raked to form an impression of rippling water.

Splash. The fish in the pond made the sound, but Ling hardly turned his head around.

The rock garden was as magnificent as the pavilion. Moss had grown and had crept up the stone, so that it looked like a tiny forest. If it actually was a forest mountain, it would be very hard to climb up it. Ling imagined himself atop the cliffs, like an ant would be. Was it scary?

Splash. Ling's concentration wavered.

Still, Ling's attention was taken by the pond once more.

Light was reflected by the glassy surface of the water. It had gone still after the winds had calmed. No fish swam beneath the surface. And yet, Ling could almost feel an odd rush as he neared the pond. It was the water.

His reflection was dilated, distorted. But Ling settled next to the small pond either way, snuggling with his chest rested on his forepaws. The sun blazed, and for a moment Ling's eyes were blinded. Then the water was back to normal, and one fish leaped up to greet him.

Ah, Ling thought. Tranquility.

Kida's Diary ;; I yawned and stretched, making sure I kept my tails suspended in the air so that my lantern could stay safe. I found it amusing that whenever I tried to move only one tail, the other one did the same thing. It got annoying sometimes, but for the time being, I didn't mind.

The sun was high above my head as I walked through the gardens. My paws gingerly touched the ground as I avoided the grass and kept to the paths. I was careful not to hit anything with my tails. Today was just like any other day, and I planned to meditate for hours later.

For now, however, I would go to the pond.

Of course, it was a small pond with a school of koi, but I was always amazed by it. And so I approached the little pond, and I let the tips of my tails touch the water as I lay down next to the pebbled shore. What a lovely day. The fish ignored me and continued to swim, but they kept well away from my shadow.

As usual I admired their patterns. With their painted backs and shiny scales, they represented beauty far beyond their name. If I could recall correctly, koi meant colorful cloth. They didn't look much like cloth, did they? They shone.

Cherry blossoms shook off the trees as I noticed a little squirrel. She had petite hands and her tail was extremely bushy. Her brown eyes were beady as she examined me. I did not move; I was no threat to her, but she didn't know that.

Slowly, she approached me. I averted my gaze from the koi and met the squirrel's eyes instead. She scampered down and then climbed on my back. I kept the lantern high above us, so that she couldn't touch it.

Image

Maybe I could observe her, and I did. She represented forethought and readiness; she was Ren; benevolent. I sighed, and she froze in caution. Finally I got up, grunting, and she ran off. I didn't mind. She had tasks. I didn't.

China was glorious. The people, the environment, and the many animals inhabiting the country. I padded down the streets far below, where one could hear the usual hustling and bustling of the citizens.

For once again I thought; who was I? Just another Kida and nothing more at the moment. But one day... one day, I'll prove myself worthy and find my true self.

One day to change it all...

Highschool Kida ;;
Ling. Zhuo Ling, the seventeen-year-old student who lived alone. He was a Chinese transfer student and stayed in an apartment, but he enjoyed talking to his foreign friends. Despite the differences he had, nobody minded that much. They got along easily.

It was odd how the girls of the school often had crushes on him. Some of the other boys simply said that they fell in love with any transfer student, which made Ling feel better. He wasn't one for lovey-dovey romance yet.

Another thing was the subjects. Ling, of course, managed to ace every test. He enjoyed the feeling of becoming top student over the weeks, and even though it made new rivals, Ling felt special. Even though he didn't like being popular, he didn't mind if every other student knew him for his perks.

Today, Ling was getting ready for school. He had already put his jacket on, but had hardly finished his breakfast. The sandwich hung from his mouth as he frantically searched for his pencil case. Even though he was smart, Ling could never be on time.

His ruffled hair was quickly combed down, and Ling sighed as he grabbed his backpack, still consuming the sandwich. He put on his socks and shoes before heading off, sandwich remnants scattered all over the jacket. Annoyed grumbles came from him as he brushed the crumbs off.

School again, thought Ling. He'd rather be back in China, under the cherry blossom trees and being with animals again, spending his time with a kitten or a bunny. He missed stroking the soft fur of an animal while letting it nuzzle him. Alas, he would have to go.

Today would be typical for him. The past few weeks led him to delve into the life of the plain student, getting far too accustomed to the boring routine. Ling found it mildly amusing that his classmates found meditating even more boring than the lessons they had.

Walking to school was something Ling enjoyed. Along the way he could watch as the neighborhood woke, aroused by the sun and their daily tasks. Children in uniform ready to go to school, mothers waving at their kids to stay safe, men waiting for a bus.

Detak was a boy who sat to Ling's left at school. He had blue hair and light ocean eyes, who eagerly joined Ling on the walk. His house was located closer to the school, which made them get to know each other better.

"Hey," Ling greeted, glancing sideways at Detak.

"Hey," Detak replied. The boy was shorter than Ling by roughly a head, and for some reason he was far more childish than the rest of his friends. He never spoke much and kept to himself, but Ling could see through that play and knew just how fantasizing the boy was. It was hard remembering that they were the same age. There was just something about Detak.

On the way to school, Detak talked about how his lessons were going and that he would require help. He explained to Ling that he would like for Ling to help him. As they approached the school and its usual chaos, Ling said he'd try.

Students were everywhere as they entered the doors. Some were on their way to the lockers, some were chatting with other, and some panicking over upcoming tests.

Ah, well. Ling and Detak made their way together to the lockers, where Ling's stood farther away. Detak had already taken what he needed and stashed what he didn't. By the time Ling had mustered all his required items, Detak had already gone into class.

Ling knew that he would have to hurry.

He grabbed what he needed and headed down the corridor, looking for his class. Detak had gone by pretty fast. Halfway through, Ling almost crashed into another student.

She was small, with a petite figure and was a little shorter than Ling, but taller than Detak. Her eyes were a shade of peach-pink and she had similarly colored hair. "Eep!" she squeaked in surprise. By the look on her face, Ling could guess that she almost dropped the books she carried with her.

"Sorry!"

"It's okay," Ling replied. He read the name written neatly on the book covers in her grip. They read Agatha. Ling, of course assuming this to be her name, didn't really think it mattered. He just backed off and continued to his class.

"Hey man," Detak greeted as soon as Ling had taken his seat. "Where ya' been?"

"Nowhere," Ling responded. He looked sideways and noticed that the previous girl wasn't in his class. Not that it mattered, it was just that there had been a chance to know here better. Agatha, Ling thought. A classic name, from one classic author if I remember.

Meanwhile, Agatha was sitting in her own class, next to a dark-haired girl named Pandora. She too looked downwards and pretended not to notice when Pandora asked if she was okay. She still crashed into obstacles as the clumsy lady she was, though. She'd be nowhere near the ladies' man, and she never even thought about him since that day. Not until some force decided that she collided into him next summer.

And just as he thought he'd never see her again...

Well, fate bound them together, and as teenagers, they were true friends.

Other ;; Thank you so much for this opportunity! I can tell you that it's been amazing, working on this form, drawing the art (despite the shabby result), and most of all the stories. I really enjoyed myself. I'm going to wish everybody else some luck, and of course if someone else wins, they'll be free to use my art.

Still, it'd be amazing to win this guy. But I'm not going to go any further; I'm just saying thanks again.

Congratulaitons on winning ling!
