Name: Brooke
Gender: Female
Back story: All koidyrs swim and some like it more than others, but Brooke loved swimming more than anything. Over the summers, she would spend entire days on the beach; gliding through the waves and laughing with friends. When the sun would start to set, she would wind down and walk back and forth across the shore, letting the soft waves run up under her paws. Brooke didn't really like winter since the waters were either freezing or frozen over. But she always looked on the bright side of things, counting down the first days of summer or last days of spring to roll in. Brooke was also a huge daydreamer; she would imagine everything and anything. How would the waves be today? Which koidyrs were going to join her on beach days? Would one maybe stay a little longer to walk with her at sunset? Brooke's optimistic mood always kept her smiling, even on the bad days. She knew exactly how to cheer her friends and her self up in really any situation. But this was all before the accident. Brooke was swimming alone in the very late afternoon sun. She was simply easing her way around and something bumped her back paws. She stiffened and stayed completely still, paralyzed with shock. She looked down cautiously and spotted the long, looming shadow swimming beneath her. A shark. She screamed and fought her way to the shore as fast as she could. The shark zipped up and grabbed her back paw experimentally, testing to see if Brooke was food. The small koidyr writhed and tore and scratched at the shark's head in panic, trying to get away. The shark let go after a second and swam back out to sea. It had lost all interest in Brooke. Brooke, heaving and dragging herself onto the beach, called for help and lay in the sand, catching her breath as best as she could. After a few weeks of rehabilitation, she was back on her feet, but not all the same. Now Brooke was more timid and cautious about doing anything. She didn't swim very often ever since the accident. Would anyone be able to coax her back into her old skin? (367 words)
