"I am Shikoba, At least thats the name my Raven mother gave me after i returned to her, for i had forgotten the name my wolf mother had given me so long ago. It means feather in choctaw native american."

Gender:
How she found the raven:
"It had been one of those bitter fall nights, the early cold breezes of winter had chased across my fine puppy coat. I pressed closer to my mothers flank begging her for warmth. her coat was hot and sticky with sweat. Her fever hadn't broken over the dawn and high sun like she had promised it would. My stomach snarled again and i cringed from the pain of my bitter hunger. Mother hadn't been strong enough to hunt in days and it had taken its tole on both of us. I feared we wouldn't be able to last much longer.

The swishing of feathering wings was barely heard over the howling of the wind. I opened my eyes and lifted my gaze to the darkening sky. A black shape flapped its way towards us, its form was clearly showing signs of exhaustion from fighting against the strong gusts of wind. The bird landed carelessly next to me. its silky black feathers were ruffled against the bitter wind and small eyes squinted at me. The Bird was A raven. It made a gentle warbling sound and took a few hops towards me. there was a weak growl from behind me as my mother noticed the bird. she swung her head towards the little black creature. "Don't come any closer" she snarled, the illness was thick in her voice, and the raven tilted its head inquisitively. "I mean to offence she-wolf, i merrily hoped you would share some of your warmth with a stranded young raven lady" she qwarked gently. my mothers head swayed. "You are not well" observed the she-raven "If you will bring me and my pup food I will repay you with more then warmth through the night" my mother slurred, the desperation in her voice was rich and sickly. "The finest meat from my kills once I'm strong enough to hunt again" My mother begged. The she-raven hopped closer and dipped her head in silent agreement. nestling in next to my in the curl of my mothers tail. This is how we braved the terrible fall storm.

Like the agreement had stated the kind she-raven brought my mother and I what she could, mice, voles and craps of meat she had torn from the kills of other wolves. I grew stronger and larger, but my mothers condition only worsened. when i found her cold and still i knew in my heart that her suffering was over. In my grief i ran away from the only one that would have given me the care i needed at that time, My Raven Mother. For two years i learned to hunt and survive on my own. But i was lonely and something clawed at the back of my mind. When a large male raven landed on one of my kills and began to peck at the rich red flesh i remembered my mothers promise to the She-raven. I owed my raven mother to fulfil this promise.

I returned to the raven's territory where i had come from. after a few days of searching i found her. the she raven had aged more then i had expected but it was not just from the years that had passed but she two had fallen under the spell of the same sickness that had stricken my mother. she was leaning over the craning heads of three baby ravens. their beaks were open hoping for food. But the she-raven had no food to give them. "Raven mother, let me care for them like you cared for me" i cried. The warm hearted bird smiled gratefully and rested her weakened body.

I cared for the hungry little hatchlings, but like my mother my sweet second mother could not beat the fever. I morned for her, but not alone, I had three raven siblings that morned with me. They had all grown into stunning young birds with noble hearts and wild spirits. When it came time for them to find their own territories to start their own families, The single female raven watched her two brothers disappear over the horizon. She looked at me with saddened but proud eyes. "Sister, i do not wish to settle down yet, I want to see the world first" she called to me, gliding down to land on my back. "I don't want to leave you" she cried her voice shrill and warm. Here we made a pact. We would travel the world, together, till the day we could no longer walk. then we would care for each other till our dying day.

~~~
I stood upon my wolf sisters strong shoulders, my claws were gently tangled in her thick warm coat. the same coat that had warmed me and my raven brothers in the coldest nights. I used my beak to scratch gently behind her ear, the spot where she could never reach. she gave a thankful grunt and glanced at me. "where to first?" she asked and i gave an excited qwark of laughter as she lurched forward and began our journey"
Raven's name:
"My name is Kangee, given to me by my ill mother. It is the human native american name for Raven"
congrats! I liked the creativity and sister-like relationship between two. :3
