FD #2

Postby Firefly. » Sun Jan 05, 2014 1:27 pm

Alright, here's the next one with one of my favorite color pallets! To win her/him, you must give me anywhere from a few sentences to a paragraph about how s/he found the raven. Prettying up the form or rearranging the order of the form is fine, but please don't add any extra categories like personality, ect. Oh, and you can tell me the raven's name if you like.

Name:

Ballet

Gender:

Female

How s/he found the raven:

Since Ballet was young, she enjoyed dancing to the call of the songbirds. Their beautiful voices filled the air and provided the perfect melody for her dancing. One evening, she noticed a scraggy looking raven observing her. He wanted to join in with the other birds and be able to sing just like them. Upon gliding down from the branch and landing next to her feet, the other birds scattered into the sunset. Ballet tilted her head; the raven cawed - a screeching noise rattled. But she thought it was precious. His voice had a certain...ring to it, a melody like no other.

Name:
Hujo (Who-Joe)

Gender:
Male

How she found the raven:
One early morning; when the freshness of spring was turning to the piping hot summer, a young pup known as Hujo was prancing along side the damp, spring rain coated tree’s calm and quietly. Hujo was allowed only allowed this time to go out and explore when he behaved and his mother and father accepted it, so he was going to waste it on looking for other creatures whom might live in this fast plain. The young brute was nearing the small gathering of streams flew down the center of the border of plains and forest, Hujo was just slow enough when he picked up a faint smell of bird. Chirping, he could hear it from his left where the stream drew into a group of puddles just a few yards from the lake. Slowly Hujo approached the strange sound and scent, with his nose leading him to a small raven chick.
This young pups parents always say to run if any large birds were near, but this was a baby raven that had fallen from it’s nest and he guessed it waddled over to the stream. Hujo couldn’t bare to let a small, helpless thing die in such a hard world and he knew it had such a long life span and if he left it for dead.. It wouldn’t mean anything to the world anymore.. Quickly Hujo darted through the dew covered fields with the raven chick carefully gripped in his mouth, gentle with his long canine teeth so he wouldn’t hurt the poor creature.. And this story goes on with our friends but that is how this young male had met his companion in time..

U s e r n a m e:

I'm Cheetawitch, the hopefully new owner of this wolf and her small raven

Tris
Why I picked this name is irony because in the book Divergent, the main character, Tris, has a scene in her fear landscapes where she is attacked by crows which are very similar to ravens.

In the late fall, when all the leaves had changed their colors and fallen to the ground, and the wind has chilled, whipping at your ears, a younger version of Tris was taking a walk. She admired the colors as she walked along the dirt path, leaves crunching beneath the pads of her paws. then she heard a strange, noise, like nothing she had ever seen before, and when she look up to smell the air, she sees a black streak in the air. She hears the cawing sound again and backs up, frantically looking around for the black beast. She grows frightened and start to run. The leaves crinkle and crunch beneath her as she runs through the woods. She's hear's the fearful noise again behind her, and a breeze above her head as it flies, faster than her legs can run, and lands in a tree in front of her. Her paw collides with a small fallen branch, and she closes her eyes as she tumbles to the ground. A tear breaks through the surface of her eye and drips down her face, just before something lands on her nose. She opens one eye and then slowly does the same with the other, and shakes the thing off her nose. When it falls to the ground she realizes that they were two jet black feathers, from a bird. She looks up at the tree before her and see's a black bird perched above, it swoops down to the ground in front of her, and she hops back a couple of steps. At this point, the far had been replaced with curiosity, and she takes a few step towards it before it hops over and perches on her shoulder. She lays still to not frighten the small bird,, and places the young birds feathers behind her ear and whispers her greeting to the mysterious thing she had been afraid of not two minutes ago.

She then picked up the small creature in her jaws and placed it on the ground lightly, with as much care as she could. It tilts its head to the left a it as she pads away, it hops towards her, but she had already disappeared into the brush and was not in sight. Hidden from predators, and also sadly, the small bird.

That winter, she was sleeping, cuddled in the far corner of the place she calls home, when she hears a loud caw. She perks her head up and smells the wind. It was the same scent the small bird was carrying last time she saw it, so could be nothing other other but the bird itself. She slowly raises herself up, but when she hears it again, more desperate, but with pain in it's voice, she springs up and runs out. The bird she will later know as the raven was laying in the snow. When it looks up and sees her, it hops up onto a small brach, sticking up out of the snow, and tucks its wings in. Then it lets out another strangled caw, full of pain and she sees one of the wings is mangled, and broken. It could not fly.

She runs over, grabs the black bird in her jaws and runs to the safety of her home. There she mends the small birds wing, licking its wounds, collecting food for it and dragging it down to the river to drink. They were, and are practically inseparatable. That day though, when she brought him to the warmth and safety of her den, she whispered, "Its ok my sweet autumn child."

R a v e n ' s ♥ n a m e:
Tris named her raven Akiko
It was the fitted name for the companion who had found her in the fall
The name is Japanese meaning "autumn child"

One windy fall day, when the leaves had only just started falling, and they speckled the ground here and there, Zoe was walking on a small winding trail in a forest collecting feathers. She saw a trail of raven feathers, and being as curious as she was, Zoe folowed them. She emerged into a large clearing surrounded by tall oak trees with a murder of crows above her. She stared up at them. Then felt a gust of wind blow against her pelt. She shivered. "Better get home." She sighed and gently picked up the feathers. Suddenly she saw something shoot out of the sky and plummet down beside her. Zoe rushed to it and gasped. It was one of the crows, it's wing missing most of its feathers. She dropped the feathers she had been carrying and slowly inched closer to it. I-is it dead? she thought silently. The little crow gave out a sigh. "Oh! Y-you're okay?" Zoe yelped. "Ow." The little creature mumbled. "I-It's broken. Broken wing" It squirmed a bit. But Zoe picked it up as gently as she could and set it on her back. "Don't worry. Don't worry." She whispered to herself the whole time she walked back to her cabin. From that point on Zoe fed, and cared for the little crow. It grew up strong, and it's wing mended. Zoe let the crow go, but it refused, and just came back later that night. The freindship that they had formed was too strong to just let go, and they lived happily ever after. (I couldn't think of a good ending. :S)

Name: Inigo
Gender: Male
How s/he found the raven:
Inigo was flouncing around in the forest when he found Cortez. Inigo was bored, so he decided to hunt. He came across a large murder of ravens. They were densely grouped together, but there were a few that had ended up separated from the black mass of feathers. Inigo stalked up on a sparse cluster of such birds, and they all fluttered away, except for one. It's back was to him, it did not hear him. Inigo stalked up on the deaf raven and snatched it into his teeth, but when he heard it's terrible, panicked cries, he dropped it immediately. He expected it to try and flutter away, which it did, but with its wet And tattered wings, it couldn't, so it just huddled against Inigo's leg. The pity still lingering, he named the bird Cortez and kept it with him.

"Greetings from the far north, I am Inupait and I am in love with this design"

Name:
"I am Shikoba, At least thats the name my Raven mother gave me after i returned to her, for i had forgotten the name my wolf mother had given me so long ago. It means feather in choctaw native american."

Gender:
How she found the raven:
"It had been one of those bitter fall nights, the early cold breezes of winter had chased across my fine puppy coat. I pressed closer to my mothers flank begging her for warmth. her coat was hot and sticky with sweat. Her fever hadn't broken over the dawn and high sun like she had promised it would. My stomach snarled again and i cringed from the pain of my bitter hunger. Mother hadn't been strong enough to hunt in days and it had taken its tole on both of us. I feared we wouldn't be able to last much longer.

The swishing of feathering wings was barely heard over the howling of the wind. I opened my eyes and lifted my gaze to the darkening sky. A black shape flapped its way towards us, its form was clearly showing signs of exhaustion from fighting against the strong gusts of wind. The bird landed carelessly next to me. its silky black feathers were ruffled against the bitter wind and small eyes squinted at me. The Bird was A raven. It made a gentle warbling sound and took a few hops towards me. there was a weak growl from behind me as my mother noticed the bird. she swung her head towards the little black creature. "Don't come any closer" she snarled, the illness was thick in her voice, and the raven tilted its head inquisitively. "I mean to offence she-wolf, i merrily hoped you would share some of your warmth with a stranded young raven lady" she qwarked gently. my mothers head swayed. "You are not well" observed the she-raven "If you will bring me and my pup food I will repay you with more then warmth through the night" my mother slurred, the desperation in her voice was rich and sickly. "The finest meat from my kills once I'm strong enough to hunt again" My mother begged. The she-raven hopped closer and dipped her head in silent agreement. nestling in next to my in the curl of my mothers tail. This is how we braved the terrible fall storm.

Like the agreement had stated the kind she-raven brought my mother and I what she could, mice, voles and craps of meat she had torn from the kills of other wolves. I grew stronger and larger, but my mothers condition only worsened. when i found her cold and still i knew in my heart that her suffering was over. In my grief i ran away from the only one that would have given me the care i needed at that time, My Raven Mother. For two years i learned to hunt and survive on my own. But i was lonely and something clawed at the back of my mind. When a large male raven landed on one of my kills and began to peck at the rich red flesh i remembered my mothers promise to the She-raven. I owed my raven mother to fulfil this promise.

I returned to the raven's territory where i had come from. after a few days of searching i found her. the she raven had aged more then i had expected but it was not just from the years that had passed but she two had fallen under the spell of the same sickness that had stricken my mother. she was leaning over the craning heads of three baby ravens. their beaks were open hoping for food. But the she-raven had no food to give them. "Raven mother, let me care for them like you cared for me" i cried. The warm hearted bird smiled gratefully and rested her weakened body.

I cared for the hungry little hatchlings, but like my mother my sweet second mother could not beat the fever. I morned for her, but not alone, I had three raven siblings that morned with me. They had all grown into stunning young birds with noble hearts and wild spirits. When it came time for them to find their own territories to start their own families, The single female raven watched her two brothers disappear over the horizon. She looked at me with saddened but proud eyes. "Sister, i do not wish to settle down yet, I want to see the world first" she called to me, gliding down to land on my back. "I don't want to leave you" she cried her voice shrill and warm. Here we made a pact. We would travel the world, together, till the day we could no longer walk. then we would care for each other till our dying day.

~~~
I stood upon my wolf sisters strong shoulders, my claws were gently tangled in her thick warm coat. the same coat that had warmed me and my raven brothers in the coldest nights. I used my beak to scratch gently behind her ear, the spot where she could never reach. she gave a thankful grunt and glanced at me. "where to first?" she asked and i gave an excited qwark of laughter as she lurched forward and began our journey"
