Name
Tycho Hven
Given that his owner is a bit of a space nut, it shouldn’t seem so out of place that this little Newton was named after Tycho Brahe, an astronomer widely celebrated for his “accurate and comprehensive astronomical and planetary observations.” This is pretty impressive, considering Brahe never used a single telescope in the creation of his map of the universe! Hven is the name of a small Swedish island where Brahe built two observatories, Uraniborg - a literal palace - and Stjerneborg, a smaller, mostly underground observatory. Of the two, only Stjerneborg (whose name literally means ‘castle of the stars’) still stands.

Gender
He’s a handsome little gentleman~

Height/Weight/Length
53.5cm at shoulder, 75cm at eartips/14lbs and some change/218cm

Age
Ten and a few weeks; his birthday is May 11th, which makes him a Taurus.

Music Playlist
1. Space Junk, by Wang Chung
2. Satelite, by Smash Mouth
3. The Scientist, by Flux Pavilion
4. Light and Night, by Tally Hall
5. Major Tom, by Shiny Toy Guns
6. Live Your Life, by Mika
7. The City, by Madeon
** With the new FAQs I figured I should mention that these are songs that match his personality and that have tunes he can at the very least appreciate.

Personality. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
(+) OPTIMISTIC: Tycho is the kind of Newton who believes the sun is always brighter in the morning, that just a little good faith and a positive attitude has the power to move mountains. And maybe he isn’t wrong; being able to fully enjoy even the most minor of good news and letting the bad slide away like water off a duck’s back has allowed him to live quite a full life. Maybe it’s a bit foolhardy to stubbornly ignore the challenges in one’s life, or the personal gain that can be achieved by recognizing how negatively things could possibly become, but so far his methods have been working for him! His never endingly upbeat attitude can be both endearing or incredible annoying, however, especially when it seems as though he isn’t taking a situation seriously…

Not everything can always be sunshine and butterflies, however, and while he experiences misfortune very rarely, the impact can be extremely hard on him; in moments like this, he is the complete polar opposite of his usual sunny self. He doesn't really know how to deal with misery, and can be in quite a slump for a very long time if left to his own devices.

(-) IMPULSIVE: Not a whole heck of a lot of thought goes into Tycho’s day-to-day decision-making processes. If it feels right, then shoot, he’s gonna do it! His argument is that one never knows how much fun one can have unless they leap in headfirst, grabbing life by the horns so to speak. What good is it to sit and analyze with theories and numbers when it’s so much easier to get firsthand experience? Obviously, this lands him in more hot water than the regular Newton would have to deal with; one can only tease fate so many times before it lunges, after all, and he has a few telltale scars underneath all that black fuzz. Luckily for him, he thinks scars are cool ways to remember the awesome things he’s done!

(+) ADVENTUROUS: Keeping Tycho in any one spot is incredibly difficult, if not completely impossible when he gets the itch to go explorin’. He loves his owner, he really does - but her flat is just soooo small, and the world is far too large for him to ignore! He isn’t satisfied with the tame life of a house pet, and as such, he is often squeezing out the window to roam the mean streets or sniff out new treats in the forest. Occasionally he’ll make his way as far as the ocean, which is a good few days’ walk for someone with such short legs; he doesn’t really enjoy swimming, so much, as he does exploring tide pools and bothering whatever sealife he happens across. One day he’d like to try climbing a mountain, if he can find one close enough to home.

Travel is his one true guilty pleasure, and he values the sight of something unknown almost as much as his owner loves her stars; however, no matter how far he may roam or how long he may be gone, he’ll always return to their little home, where she’ll be waiting for him with a warm meal and a bath.

(-) MEDDLESOME:Tycho doesn’t generally believe in the sanctity of privacy or the lawlessness of breaking into someone else’s house; as far as he is concerned, he can go where he pleases, do what he pleases, and take what he pleases. Sometimes it’s little things, like the buttons off a stranger’s jacket or a sip of someone else’s tea, but other times… let’s just say his owner has had to apologize to many neighbors whilst returning their phone chargers and small electronic game devices. Tycho loves to have a laugh at someone else’s expense, and has become very talented at the art of picking pockets - though he does love the thrill of the chase, as well, and will steal in plain sight just for the rush of adrenaline that comes from being pursued. He’s nimble and slippery, and almost always gets away with his high-speed escapes - then again, sometimes he doesn’t. That's all part of the fun!

Humans are much easier to escape from than other animals, and he knows better than to play his ‘games’ with anything that could possibly make a lunch out of him, but sometimes pulling that dog’s tail is just so irresistible, and tickling that sleeping cat's whiskers? They're practically tempting him to pull on them! He just doesn't think they should fuss so much at him afterwards.

(+) IMAGINATIVE: As smart as Tycho likes to think he is, his understanding of the stars is shaky at best and the inherent importance of their study will forever elude him. That being said, he is a clever little thing; his owner is quite fond of books of all sorts and will read them out loud to him, and while the fictional ones are his favourite, he enjoys listening to just about anything. What he understands is limited by his understanding of the human language, with picture books being the easiest for him to follow, but he knows a good adventure novel when he hears one. When the tone of his owner’s voice turns to that of wonder and intrigue, he can almost imagine himself in the place of the story’s hero - a brave warrior on a quest, or perhaps a spaceman exploring the stars, whatever a spaceman is! Instead of simply dreaming about these things, however, he will often take his fantasies to a whole new level by acting out the most action-packed parts of the stories wherever he feels is best. Oftentimes this is done during his wanderings/pillagings, but occasionally his owner will walk into the room just in time to see him valiantly fighting against one of her many plushies.

(-) VAIN: Maybe he was pampered a bit too much as a fawn, or perhaps he’s always been a little narcissistic – whatever the reason, Tycho is very particular about his looks. His wonderfully dark coat is easily mussed by sand, silt, or dust, and his beautiful neon O’s tend to get a bit dull if they aren’t perfectly groomed each and every day, sometimes multiple times. He can be nearly manic about keeping his hair shiny and straight, and always makes time for polishing his hooves and horns until they glitter; his owner has always praised him for being a very handsome fellow, and he certainly wouldn’t want to prove her otherwise!
This doesn’t mean that Tycho will avoid situations if it means he might get a bit messy – he still loves to truly enjoy playing rough and getting dirty whilst on any of his magical adventures, but half the fun at the end of the day is seeing if he can remove all the mud and briars from his fur and hair before settling in to sleep. His fussiness only bubbles up when it seems as though he might have to be in contact with others, whether they be human or animal; he does so love to make a good impression.

Life Story. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Tycho’s story begins with a box. Not a very large one, or a very new one, as it was a bit worn and the corners were all soggy, but at the very least, it was his. Someone had put him there, though he couldn’t quite remember whom, and it really was all he knew; that someone had taken the tiny fawn before he could even open his eyes and boxed him all up, with only a small blue blanket to keep him company. It was soft, and he liked it, but it wasn’t very good at keeping him fed, and it could have been a bit warmer.

The girl’s name was Tara, and she was a student of the stars. She had enrolled in a university rather well-known for its courses in astronomy, and she absolutely loved what she was doing - though her parents weren’t quite so thrilled by her choice in studies. She wasn’t so fond of the college experience, however, and more often than not, she felt horribly alone. The move had uprooted her from her hometown and taken her many, many, many miles from everything she had known, from quiet country living to the boisterous - and sometimes frighteningly fast-paced - lifestyle of the big city. Maybe she was kind of shy, maybe the other students were a bit standoffish; whatever the reason, she didn’t make many friends her first year. All she had was her one-bedroom flat and the internet, which did offer the chance to communicate with the friends she had left behind, but it just wasn’t the same.

She hated being so alone. She hated it so much that, on the week after classes ended for the summer, she decided that maybe she would be better off if she moved back home. The local college didn’t support astronomy, but it would definitely be worth it to have friends again. With that thought cemented in her mind, she gathered up all her study materials - her notes, star maps, and everything that went with them - and placed them all in a box. There weren’t many trash bins that supported the dumping of large objects near her apartment block, but by the school there was a dumpster that would be just right; she could drop off her garbage and resign from classes all in one trip, which was convenient enough for her to make the drive. With her box in tow, she flipped open the dumpster lid and shoved it in so that it fit nicely amongst the other boxes and bags. One did fall over, however, landing on top of hers, but she didn’t think much of it. She would have walked away and thought no more of it, if she hadn’t heard a little squeal.

She wasn’t sure if she had imagined the sound, as it had been very quiet, very muffled - but then, the box began to wiggle.

Slowly, a little paw emerged. A hesitant little nose followed, then a shaggy head and pudgy body tumbled free of the box - and a blanket, she saw, a rather grungy-looking one. The muddy-furred, squinty-eyed Newton fawn mewled again, nuzzling about until he found a new box flap; promptly deciding hers was a much more inviting box, he rolled himself right on in and settled amongst a virtual nest of papers. It was warm, and that was all he really cared about.

Tara had never seen an actual Newton fawn, though she knew some folks liked to keep them as pets. The fad never really made its way to her hometown, and even then, she'd only known what an adult looked like. Here was a tiny, tiny little baby, hardly old enough to be on his own, and she had absolutely no idea what to do. There was no one around to ask about it's parentage or ownership, and she didn't know of a number she could call that would come to pick him up...

She didn't want to handle the tiny Newton, afraid she might accidentally injure him, but she knew she couldn't leave him in a trash bin. She didn't want all her notes and maps, but he was far too content for her to bother trying to remove him, and so she fished out her old box, fawn and all, placing it in the passenger seat of her car. She even went as far as to buckle the seatbelt for him, driving as cautiously as possible.

Tara never moved back home. Instead, she spent that summer in the company of the tiny Newton she named Tycho, doing the best she could do with the resources made available to her through the local pet shop and the Internet; she's even gone as far as to search out other Newton owners in the city, making friends both for herself and for Tycho. The city became less a terror and more like home with her little companion - they've been there for nearly ten years now, plenty of time for Tara to get both her Bachelor's and her Master's degrees and become a teacher in her own right. Tycho doesn't much care for the passage of time, because as far as he's concerned, it doesn't matter. He's got a warm home and an understanding owner who not only loves him, but spoils him halfway across the galaxy - what more could a Newton want?

Favourite Things. . . . . . . . . . . .
1. Tycho is an avid, almost obsessional collector of coins, buttons, and other small, round baubles that shine. Often these are the spoils of his many escapades, stolen when their owners aren't looking or found after being dropped from careless pockets; rarer still are the things that he snatches from houses and public buildings, though those are often his favourite trophies. He keeps his treasures in the cavity of an old tree not so far from where he lives, as his owner doesn't really approve of his sticky-fingered ways and will often try to return anything she can. He also has a tendency to hang his treasures on bits of wire and string, and has become quite deft at tying a knot. He loves watching the light glitter over his homemade windchimes as a good breeze makes them sing...
2. His owner owns a globe. A very big, very expensive wooden globe with a brass axis. Tycho plays this game where, when his owner isn't looking, he climbs his way to the North Pole and spins himself about as fast as he can; the longer he can hold on, the more points he can give himself! There are so many scratches covering that poor globe from where he's held on for dear life that some of the countries' names are hard to read, and he often gets in trouble whenever he's caught, but it's totally worth it~
3. Sweets just aren't Tycho's thing. Now, give him something so sour it feels as though his cheeks will cave in, and he'll love you forever! He absolutely loves that pinching feeling on the insides of his cheeks, the way his toes curl and his ears tremble - even the runny nose is totally worth it. He's always on the hunt for the next big name in sour candies, and can often be found hanging around sweets stores, either begging or digging through their dumpsters.
4. Despite having been abandoned in one, Tycho genuinely enjoys cardboard boxes. They're nice places to take naps, perfect hiding places, and fun to chew on, to boot. His owner, in an attempt to give him something constructive to do while she studied or attended classes, began building all sorts of play places out of boxes - tunnels, castles, high-rise apartment buildings, anything she could come up with that would hold up well enough with some duct tape. The idea worked so well that she now goes out of her way to collect boxes for Tycho to play with, much to Tycho's delight.
5. He really likes those little Arpakasso Alpaca toys that recently gained popularity in Japan. Or, more accurately, he likes to chew on these poor little alpacas. To be honest, he likes chewing on all manner of plush toys - it's just that his owner has a small obsession with this particular brand and has a very impressive hoard in the makes. He has a tendency to play hard, and so more than one of his owner's precious collection has had to be patched up or restuffed...

Least Favourite Things. . . . . . . .
1. If there's anything Tycho actually loathes with a passion, it's cages. His life is free-range all the way, no collars or leashes or bars; of course, when he gets caught for doing something naughty, the feds often lock him up. he's become especially handy at maneuvering the locks on most animal kennels, and is quick to make his escape, but for the times when the security's too tight, all he can do is wait until his owner comes to pick him up - depending on how far he managed to travel, that could take days. Luckily, he's been micro-chipped.
2. Tycho isn't very fond of large bodies of water. This is a bit silly, considering Newtons were originally an island breed, but he never learned to swim, and therefore has a healthy fear of getting in over his head. Tiny hooves aren't very good at paddling, and his stubby nose hardly breaks the surface of the water no matter how hard he tries to keep afloat. Luckily for him, his owner isn't really big on swimming, either, though she just doesn't have the time or the interest. A nice bath is more than enough water contact for Tycho, thanks.
3. Please, oh please don't ever ask to meet with Tycho until he's had a chance to tidy up his fur and his things. He's very particular about what goes where, and has been known to snort at folks who get too close to his personal stash of goodies; his tolerance for other Newtons trying to stick their noses in his business is even thinner, and he isn't beyond biting anyone who tries to take something from him. He's a bit territorial, though he'll avoid starting a fight if he can.

Piece One: A young Tycho contemplates the vastness of the night sky. Since I am incapable of drawing night skies, however, I used this free wallpaper and jazzed it up a little with some colour and a few new stars.

((Uuuugh I wanted to draw so much more but have been trying to do too many things at once ;3; I guess a wall of text will have to make up for it! Also, I hope I've made him sound a bit more like an animal, as per the FAQs~))

Aaaah thank you so much!! I absolutely love this little boy to pieces, writing for him was just a, lot of fun! I didn't even start off planning to do much with his owner, but one thing led to another XD I've already got a few ideas for the two of them that involve my other Newton (the pretty reef girl, also by you) and her owner, too~

I would have liked to see a few more finished forms, though... So many reserves!

Ah, same here, I'm super glad though that you like your new Newton though :)
I think Newtons and their owners just need to get more into the community through art and role-playing or just sending their friends here to check out the species.

You're absolutely right XD I mean, Newtons as a whole are just incredible; each one is so unique! I guess I don't talk to too many people on CS, hahah, but I do post in a lot of places, so I'll just have to spread the word <3
